    Depending on the cost, the extended warranties can be a life-saver. You have to weight the cost of the plan verses the cost of the product and the likelihood of failure...I almost always buy them.

    Best deal of the year. I like having the Geek squad service agreement. Our family uses the service for manning of our electronic devices. The savings versus regular cost is worth the up-front cost.

    I recommend getting insurance for your gadgets especially if you have little ones that gets into everything. Geek squad will help and little less frustration on your part when it breaks .

    I purchased protection for my printer. The printer cost a good chunk of change so it only made since to purchase some protection because you just never know when things can take a turn left.

    We've had very good experiences with our GS warranties. My wife is exceptionally hard on electronics and the GS warranty has save us multiple times. We buy them for all of our devices from BB.

    Protection plans are worthwhile. I buy one with each computer, printer, and appliance. There have been some instances when they were used. Once it covered a replacement printer.

    I was not going to spend the $10, but i saved so much money on the printer,i figured why not. Plus, the fact, it would cost more to ship within the 1st year back to HP with the 1 year I have with them. it is easier to bring it back to best buy, should i have any issues.

    Had an issue with a printer I purchased the previous year went to the store not knowing what to expect..had the Geek Squad warranty ..left the store within 10 min with a new printer anf a gift card..EXCELLENT..service..couldn't believe the customer service..

    Basically you pay for the coverage and if something happens to it, best buy replaces it and you can buy the coverage again for the next product. Just like car insurance, an added expense but nice to have when needed.

    Protection plan not what it used to be

    Bestbuy charges for a protection plan depending on the cost of the item purchased. They used to take the manufacturers warranty and if the item was defective in to account before applying the protection plan. So they would only use the protection plan in extreme cases. They don't do this anymore. If anything happens to your product you only have 15 days to return it. After that they apply the protection plan to any issues with the product and if you want to keep the protection plan after the issue you have to repurchase it. I had a HP printer fail from a manufacturers defect after 6 weeks of use. I took it back and told them I need to get another printer. They took it back with little question but also used up my $50.00 protection plan in the process. I asked them why are you using my protection plan on a defective item? They said if I don't want to use up my protection plan then I would have to deal with HP directly. In addition they would only offer store credit and refused to give me a refund. I understand that a company has to make a profit to stay in business but there is something just not right about how they are handling this now. Essential if you want the option and privilege of returning an item no matter the circumstances you need to buy a protection plan.

    the replacement program is great! i was able to get a full refund from the purchase of my printer on a gift card and apply the credit to something else which is easy since best buy offers a lot.

    I usually pick up the product replacement when I buy a product on the more expensive side as an insurance against damage. I have not had any bad experiences when it comes to replacing a damaged device.

    I have purchased several Geek Squad Product Replacement plans in the past. They have served me very well when a product has experienced mechanical failures due to manufacturing. I was able to return the item in exchange for a new one—or a different product, altogether.
