    I buy protection plans on all of our TVs and computers and have used them on both. Best Buy doesn’t mess around and takes care of things if there is a problem. This is the only company I buy protection plans from because of this. No headaches and hassle free.

    I have always purchased the Best Buy Protection Plan on big-ticketed items like TVs, laptops that could easily get damaged. I had been advised not to get it as it is a waste of money since products are built to last. But not all products do. For the $500/5yr Protection Plan I purchased in 2010, I have called Geek Squad several times to fix my broken TV. Paid $0 on all those house calls. When they could not fix the TV in my last service call, they replaced it. What did I get? A $1000 credit to go towards the purchase of a new one...Of course, I purchased the Protection Plan, thus this review :)

    Always get Geek Squad Protection for new installs

    I always add Geek Squad protection for expensive new products like big flat screen TV installed by Best Buy, but don't let anyone else touch the device or they may not honor the protection plan! (Which is why I put 4 stars instead of 5). Found this out with a TV purchased 2 years ago and installed by a handyman, then when there was a problem Best Buy would not take responsibility for it. So new TV installed by Best Buy and will only let them deal with it from now on! For portable items like laptop computers I also love getting Geek Squad protection as then can bring it right into any Best Buy store for problems.

    Great fast service from the Geek Squad

    I was able to get my tv delivered the next day. It was soo fast. They delivered it for free. Someone from the Geek Squad contacted me right away in the morning. I was there first delivery. It only took them 15-20 minutes to get to my house. When they got here. They asked me where I would like it. They placed the tv where I wanted it. Then they were gone it was quick and painless. I would for sure recommend the Geek Squad.

    Comes in a box that is not properly reinforced

    The TV is put in a box without adequate protection. FedEx damaged the box and the TV inside. I called Best Buy and they gladly replaced the item. However, I had to return the broken one which I told them that I couldn’t do alone since I have back problems and live in a high floor in the middle of NYC. So Best Buy made arrangements for a UPS driver to come to my place and pick up the broken TV. A UPS driver came to pick up the TV and neither bought the labels nor scanned it so now I’m stuck with having to pay for garbage. It’s been 3 days and the UPS system now reads that there was an attempted delivery to bring the labels even though the TV was already picked up. Unbelievable!

    The Geek Squad is at the store!

    I am hoping this Geek Squad Protection is a lot better than Allstate's. It wouldn't take much to be better than Allstate. I like that the Geek Squad is part of Best Buy and not some corporate insurance company that is far away and difficult to contact. With the Geed Squad I can go right to the store and start the process with actual human beings.

    I always get my Best Buy items covered with Geek Squad. However, the turn around to have something repaired needs be improved upon. I have an 82 QLED, that failed on my on the 11th month of the manufacturer warranty. So I'm at the mercy of Samsung throwing parts at it and Geek Squad scheduling appointments until the issue is resolved. By the time the techs come back out to my house it will be two months of waiting.

    Good people but not easy to get in touch

    The agents who actually came in to help were good at what they did and were reasonable and good to talk to and help me with my problems. The only problem i have with them is getting in touch with them was way too time consuming. I had to call 2 different hotlines which took over 3 hours to get in touch with an actual human being then eventually was told to call another hotline I gave up and scheduled an appointment online which after another 3 hours of waiting finally got me in touch with someone who could help me. Again the service is great, but it might take you an entire day just to get the help.

    The price of the warranty has doubled however down the line I will definitely appreciate having purchase the warranty should the tv have issues.
