About 3 TV's ago I started buying the Geek Squad 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection plan automatically with the purchase of a flat screen TV regardless of the brand/model. I learned that modern day TV's are only rated to last 2 to 3 years. Now while all have outlasted the 3 year mark, they started to fail in the 4th years. In both cases the tv's begain to show faint lines in the picture. Upon noticing the lines I called Best Buy's Geek Squad and my protection plan got me my money back on the TV's! I was then able to use that money to buy a new replacement TV. Not only that, I was allowed to keep the failing tv until both screens went completely black. So in these cases this plan was worth every penny.

If you are buying an Open-Box TV from Best Buy, do yourself a favor: do not leave the store without the 5-Year Geek Squad Protection. I recently picked up a high-end 65" OLED in "Excellent" open-box condition. While the savings were massive (nearly $600 off retail), open-box items are inherently a gamble. You’re often dealing with a limited or already-running manufacturer warranty, and with modern TVs, if the panel goes, the repair cost usually exceeds the price of a new TV.

Hah! Just in time! I forgot that I had purchased the 5-Year Standard Geek Squad Protection plan until the other day when I found my receipt for TV. 11 months ago we bought a new 55" Insignia Fire TV. For the past month it has been changing channels in the middle of movies/programs and going to the TV Guide. Sometimes the TV just shuts off. So anyways, I found the protection plan, called Geek Squad and had an in person service call within 2 days! Now that is awesome service!! They come tomorrow. I hope they can figure it out as this new TV has been a lemon since we bought it last December 11 months ago.

I had the extra protection on my previous TV that after four years stopped working. They give me a brand new compatible TV so I am purchasing it for this TV that I just bought. From the time I called to report the problem to the resolution was less than 30 minutes.

Make when you get an open box tv and you're getting it delivered. Take the power cord and remote with you. Best buy warehouse lost the power cord and remote. I called samsung directly and they said they don't have one. How the maker of samsung don't have parts to their own product? So I'm returning it. I asked for a gift card for the inconvenience the warehouse mgr told me if I keep the tv he will order me a universal cord and give me a gift card. For $3100 I want the original. And the sale person Denziel W. gets 5 STARS Not best buy

Never filed a claim but the insurance on expensive electronics is definitely reasonable if the had catastrophic damage.

I bought this TV to replace an older one that was on the fritz. I love how light this TV is and how it looks in my living room. The sounds is amazing and it works at my lower volumes than my old TV. I wanted a non-smart TV since I already have any Apple TV and this worked perfectly.
