Protection

I also had the extended warranty on that tv. Geek Squad was unable to repair the tv so they replaced it with a brand new comparable model. They made everything simple, installed the new tv and removed the old one. I would highly recommend purchasing the extended warranty for any high end model tv. One year standard warranty isnt enough.

Disappointed customer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a protection plan along with a TV purchase to ensure I had a working and functional TV for at least 5 years. The purchased TV was the high end of the brand at the time and we've enjoyed it. Unfortunately I cannot say the same regarding the protection plan. In my first year, we ran into issues with the TV. It was under manufacturers warranty, so they covered a motherboard replacement. Within a few weeks of the manufacturers warranty ending, ran into more issues with the TV. This is the reason I purchased the protection plan and thought I was covered. It was easy getting someone out to inspect and determine another motherboard replacement was needed. That was during my last week of my remote job. I have since started a new job that's 45mins away. I communicated this and the technician said it wasn't a problem and scheduled a Saturday appointment. The date rolls around and no communication from Best Buy all day. I call and am told no agent was assigned and would escalate my issue. It cascaded downhill more and more from here. I had a total of 5 escalations and >12 interactions with Best Buy customer service via chat, call, and in store. Then I'm finally told by someone at corporate that they don't have Saturday appointments in my area and said I should take PTO. It's a new job that I haven't received any PTO yet, so the rep was basically putting me in position to call out sick and hurt my reputation and employment status with this employer. I ask about options like exchanging or returning for store credit and was told that's not an option because they haven't gotten a chance to fix it. They won't work with you for Saturday appointments. So I've been stuck with a malfunctioning TV for months and am told my only option was to mail a complaint to corporate. I mailed a letter to corporate and still haven't received any type of communication. I've been a long time customer of Best Buy. Very disappointed by this situation and I feel cheated being stuck with a malfunctioning TV. Why would I ever shop at Best Buy again after an experience like this?

Best Warranty

Great protection

Thankfully I have only had to use it a couple of time, sure glad that I had it. Some people don't care to or say not purchase. I personally always feel better when I do.

Can’t honestly review yet, but…

However, if the protection plan provides service that’s equal to our installation service, we’re not worried about our ever having to use it!

I recommend everybody to get it especially if you know how your kids are and they like to throw things and stuff like that. This is a must have for your TV you guys.

My Assumption
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.What amazes me is the engineered life span of a new TV that makes getting this coverage virtually mandatory. My 42" Insignia died almost 5 years to the month of when I got it. I was then told my new 49" Sony would have about the same lifespan - if I'm lucky! If it dies within 5 years and they cannot fix it, I get a new one "free" if you don't count the cost of the Geek Squad protection. Go figure. When you add things like this to the fact you pay $200+/month for Comcast TV & Internet, the cost of entertainment has become an absurdity. It's enough sometimes for me to think about buying a TV at a thrift store and using "rabbit ears" antennas for actual free TV and save myself a lot of money to the tune of $3,000+ per year when you amortize it out to the TV's life span. Did you know that with FHA you can put a down payment TO BUY A HOUSE with what you spend on TV in 2-3 years??? Just the same, even if I just had TV "rabbit ears," the Internet has become a necessity the way a telephone is, it's a form of velvet-gloved robbery. So, hat's off to the Geek Squad for being there, to save us from our big, expensive TV's that have an engineered life span not unlike the cast from Blade Runner. I recommend it because it's now mandatory and no longer an option unless you're into gambling odds, with your TV lasting more than 5 years, not much different than the state lottery. Haven't needed Geek Squad to set up my TV, however given my past experience with them, with my computer, I expect no less than 5 stars.
