Just buy the protection!

I like how Best Buy gives you the option to buy the protection at a discounted price yea its ONLY for that particular device but its so worth it! if you don't purchase the geek squad protection with any purchase (that's eligible) from Best Buy then your going to be coming out of pocket for repairs and possibly a new item and it will end up being a pretty penny!

Disappointed customer
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I purchased a protection plan along with a TV purchase to ensure I had a working and functional TV for at least 5 years. The purchased TV was the high end of the brand at the time and we've enjoyed it. Unfortunately I cannot say the same regarding the protection plan. In my first year, we ran into issues with the TV. It was under manufacturers warranty, so they covered a motherboard replacement. Within a few weeks of the manufacturers warranty ending, ran into more issues with the TV. This is the reason I purchased the protection plan and thought I was covered. It was easy getting someone out to inspect and determine another motherboard replacement was needed. That was during my last week of my remote job. I have since started a new job that's 45mins away. I communicated this and the technician said it wasn't a problem and scheduled a Saturday appointment. The date rolls around and no communication from Best Buy all day. I call and am told no agent was assigned and would escalate my issue. It cascaded downhill more and more from here. I had a total of 5 escalations and >12 interactions with Best Buy customer service via chat, call, and in store. Then I'm finally told by someone at corporate that they don't have Saturday appointments in my area and said I should take PTO. It's a new job that I haven't received any PTO yet, so the rep was basically putting me in position to call out sick and hurt my reputation and employment status with this employer. I ask about options like exchanging or returning for store credit and was told that's not an option because they haven't gotten a chance to fix it. They won't work with you for Saturday appointments. So I've been stuck with a malfunctioning TV for months and am told my only option was to mail a complaint to corporate. I mailed a letter to corporate and still haven't received any type of communication. I've been a long time customer of Best Buy. Very disappointed by this situation and I feel cheated being stuck with a malfunctioning TV. Why would I ever shop at Best Buy again after an experience like this?

Insurance is a very good thing to have
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.While we haven't taken advantage of this yet, we decided to get it for our new Roku 43" 4K television because it was affordable and two years, which is a good amount of time, and often within the timeframe that if something is going to go on the fritz, it will. Well worth taking the worry out of the purchase!

Needed plan.

BB kept trying to repair it but then something else came up. I was kind of ticked off as it was costing more to keep trying useless repairs. Finally after over 3 months of failed attempts they called it a wash. I took the full credit and upgraded to a better set. It was a pain but in the end they apologized when they reveiwed my purchase history. I got another 5 year plan for the new TV.

A $799.99 They gave me my choice of a new tv of the same amount of money. So, when I got my new TV, I took the same Protection on my new tv. A very good deal.
