Coming up on the fridge's 2-year service with no complaints. This is what triggered my desire to write this review. LG assumed my warranty was already expired (1 year after purchase) To add an extended service plan now through LG… 2 years = $552.84 & 3 years = $783.19. I was smart this time and purchased the Geek Squad's (standard) 5-coverage for $599.99 at the time of purchase. Good until June 2028. Smartest move ever!

3☆ But NOT because of the freezer...!

...even though BB sent out a guy to measure the tricky, tight space this freezer would have had to navigate to get to my basement, the ONLY place in the house where I had space enough to house it, and he assured me it was doable, my own measurements and analysis seemed to indicate otherwise. As soon as the delivery truck pulled up, I talked with one delivery guy, he talked with the driver, they came to the basement landing door with a measuring tape. In the end it was determined by the driver that there was no way this fridge was making it down the basement stairs. He stated he was not going to risk accepting liability for damage, cosmetic or otherwise, to the merchandise and apologized, I waved that off, told him I had lost sleep over this, pretty much KNEW it wasn't going to work (I didn't want them to take it off the truck because I just knew...), and would figure something else out. They drove away with Freezer #1. I promptly got to work researching this website and finally found Freezer #2 (Frigidare 13cf upright freezer model #6369435... 3.7cf smaller and about $100 more, and not an Insignia, unfortunately. But what are you going to do when you really need a freezer?). I headed back to the same BB store the next day, paid the difference, and now I wait till December 23. Freezer #2 allows 7/8" leeway, so cross your fingers. My advice: If you doubt it's going to fit and your ARMG (Advance Recon Measurement Guy) insists it will, have them SHOW you how it will work, taking your own measurements along the way. Rmember that the delivery guys work for a different company and, like you, will not do it if damage is more than a bit likely.

A little loud, but a decent medium-sized fridge.

Delivery and setup were done well by the crew. We also paid to have them remove our heavy broken-down old one. This is a little smaller than the fridge we had before, but I think it will work for us. It's kind of loud when it's running, and the fridge doesn't get as cold as I expected without turning it to the coldest setting. It is working well now though and getting as cold as we want it (we have a digital fridge thermometer in it). Now we'll see how much the temperature varies to see if it gets too cold and freezes produce. If you have more than 2 gallons of milk (yes, we drink lots of milk in our house): we found that it works best to NOT have the top shelf on the top height so we can put milk gallons on top. The door shelves can also hold gallons, but to make them usable you have to remove one. This makes it so you don't have to lower the drop-down shelf (using the drop-down shelf makes half of that shelf practically un-usable). My biggest point of feedback is that it is a pain to move the shelves. The doors don't swing all the way open which makes it very difficult to move them. I went through and adjusted the doors according to the manual and still not much/any difference. Make sure you figure out where you will put gallon jugs and other tall containers before you put all your other food in.

The night the lights went out

So it came about gradually. Every time you opened up the refrigerator doors it was like a light show or maybe a disco party. Since purchase it as a Christmas gift for my daughter in December when it arrived in January I was so excited. Then in February that’s when the party started. First lights to go out was the top only and then the bottom secondly, until there were no more lights. Now here is the funny part we call GE warranty to set up an appointment and the guy came out and said he thought it was for the stove. So now he’s equipped for what’s or need to be done to the refrigerator. But he do order parts that he believe he might can fix. The parts come in he shows up no appointment may I say and still no Fix. Now here come our refurbished refrigerator and so far so good only a couple of weeks in and there’s no light show. Other than that, it is quite spacious. I love it, but I did have to use a flashlight just to see what I had in the refrigerator. I did notice that the installers installed the doors unevenly, and maybe that has something to do with it. One was slightly higher than the other. But the second area installers the doors were straight across. Now appointment just called and said that they’re on their way. Well until the lights go off again enjoy your GE products.

    Good freezer, 3 issues

Next day delivery by 3rd party (not Geek squad) arrived before 9:00. The box is large and had to be tipped for the basement door, but went into the storage room with 1/2 inch to spare. Easy enough to unbox and level. 3 complaints. Current temperature is not displayed. Bins in the door should be twice as deep as in my older Frigidaire. 2 drawers should have been 1, and they are too deep - need to unload to get to the bottom.

I have purchased these plans with each major appliance that I bought from Best Buy. Simply, it has given me peace of mind ever since I had a computer virus and Geek Squad saved our hard drive. Since then, I have purchased a TV and a refrigerator from Best Buy. In another week or so, we will be purchasing a new washer from Best Buy. We have and will be purchasing these service plans for any such item we buy. It is a nice bonus to what has always been a great purchase experience with Best Buy.

    Great Fridge

PERFECT counter depth fridge for my tiny kitchen. It surprisingly has tons of space. There is no light in the freezer and the shelving in the fridge has to be adjusted to fit milk or other tall items. I do not use an ice maker so I can not review that component.

    Regrets

This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

If you plan on using the ice maker or water dispenser, I do NOT recommend this model. After about a year the ice maker started making a loud knocking sound every few hours. It works, but it’s super annoying (especially when you’re trying sleep). The water dispenser is a poor design. You can’t fit most water bottles or tall cups in the opening, so naturally you tilt it but the water shoots diagonal towards the fridge making it hard time to see how full the cup is. Speaking of water shooting, it comes out fast enough that most small cups end up causing a splash mess. To top it all off, the warranty is only 1 year and labor on repairs is a fortune. $159 just to show up and $20 EVERY 6 MINUTES!!! So now we’re stuck with this ice maker problem. Fortunately the rest of the fridge is pretty great, but for 3k I have regrets.

    WASTE OF MONEY

We bought a refrigerator and the Geek Squad 3 yr Protection from you Nov. 2017. The frig was delivered and we noticed right away that the right door would not stay open. Your delivery person assured us that once we put food in the bins that it would. It would not. We adjusted it and still it would not stay open. We went to your website and read that if it's under a year old to call manufacturer so we did. They first tried to convince us that it was normal but as we looked closer at the hinge we discovered it was cracked. So they came out and inspected and ordered a part. Great! They came back out and showed us that the very thick metal of the hinge was also cracked but they had replaced it too. I called Best Buy the next morning and shared that it was obvious that the frig had either been dropped and something had fallen on it. We had paid for a new one not a damaged one. We wanted it replaced. You guys said sure. Your squad brought one out and stood in my kitchen arguing with me not to replace it. Saying I should have never called Samsung first and that they don't know what they are saying. And to always call the Geek Squad and they will take good care of me. Then I was told that there is no way for me to know if the new frig on the truck had been also damaged or having something faulty about that on too. I replied that if I do discover any thing faulty that I would be so happy to call them back at fix or replace the new one too. They then went on to tell me that I was sticking Best Buy with a damaged frig and that someone was going to have to pay for it implying that I was hurting Best Buy. I replied that Best Buy needs to then be more cautious who they buy their friges from but Best Buy was not leaving me with a faulty frig that I bought new not "open box". They did finally replace it but not without an attitude and lots of tape in and around the frig for me to find for the next few weeks. After a few months past a bin cracked. I called Geek Squad and a new one was sent to me. Then July 2018 2 more cracked and I was told that once the manufacturer coverage ends that I would be stuck paying 80 to 90 dollars for myself. Today another one was found cracked and I called again but this time I was told policy has changed and that Best Buy will not replace bins anymore. And that I do need to call Samsung even though I was told earlier that that was bad and they were bad and ignorant. Your policy states: Normal Wear and Tear We fix failures from dust, internal heat and humidity, plus defects in materials and workmanship This is obvious a defect in the materials and/or workmanship but apparently you can change your policy at your discretion but that is how the policy reads for new buyers so you are deceiving your customers. The gentleman I talked to today was very combative and I kept having to let him know that I wasn't calling to argue or be disrespectful but that I needed a new bin and that Best Buy should stand behind their policy.

This freezer is the best. I have not used it as a fridge because I can’t get it empty of freezer foods. It’s big and holds a ton of food. Still going strong after 4 years
