    Love the fridge but the water filter is poorly des

    I really love this fridge, however changing the water filter is a not an easy task, after the first change with a samsung filter it started to leak water :( so we'll see how this goes..

    So I bought a GE French Door Refrigerator from Best Buy August 2022. The unit was delivered October 2022. The unit stopped working March of 2023. I called Best Buy and was directed to contact GE for service. A technician diagnoses the issue as a bad compressor and ordered and installed a new compressor. The unit stopped cooling again September 2023. Called GE again and a tech was dispatched to repair the unit again. The unit stopped cooling again - January 2024. Called Best Buy who dispatched a tech on Thursday, January 11th. The tech diagnosed it again as a closed system cooling issue that he wasn't qualified to repair. A new company was dispatched for an appointment on January 16th. I received a call on January 15th that they too were not qualified to repair closed cooling systems. I called Best Buy again asking for a new replacement machine for this clearly bad unit. I was told that dispatch was looking for a qualified technician to fix the GE refrigerator. An appointment was scheduled for Monday, January 22nd. The same GE technician from the first visit came to the house and diagnosed the problem as a bad compressor AGAIN and ordered several new parts including a new compressor. This unit is 15 months old and has broken 3 times in 10 months. Each system failure has caused all the food in the refrigerator to spoil. I have repeatedly asked for a new unit. Today I was told that the "lemon" provision of my warranty is only good after the 3rd breakdown under the extended warranty. Since the first 2 breakdowns were under the factory warranty THEY DONT COUNT! BEWARE OF Best Buy and their geek squad extended warranties. They are clearly a waste of money. I spent $2500 on a refrigerator that has cost us hundreds of dollars is spoiled food and now we have no kitchen refrigerator for a month. Do not shop at Best Buy. They clearly dont care about their customers.

    Geek squad protection for the next 3 years is a peace of mind I can have for my new kitchen appliance. Although I believe my purchase is of the highest quality and reliability, you never know with appliances or machinery, so having this protection is certainly assuring.

    As of now I have not needed to use my extended protection. However, I have peace of mind knowing that if my refrigerator breaks down, I can have it fixed. The plan is very affordable, a lot more cheaper than other competitors. I checked around before making my purchase, and I definitely saved a lot of money.

    Always get the extended warranty for appliances because you never know. The price was cheaper than getting it through the appliance manufacturer, plus I have never ever had a problem with the geek squad protection plans

    I don't normally buy extended warranties, but on such a large dollar-amount item and one that I can't just throw in the car to take to a repair shop, I thought it was worth buying. I hope I never have to use it, but I breathe a little easier knowing it's there.

    This is the best purchase! My washer and dryer are under the geek squad warranty. My dryer broke down, made a call and it was fixed, nothing out of pocket.

    I had some issues with my Insigna refrigerator that requested calling the Geek Squad. It took about two weeks for the technician to get here to check things out but he fixed it straight away! Paying a little bit more for the extended service is well worth it! It like having a brand new refrigerator again!

    When I was researching our new fridge, I was terrified by the reviews of manufacture warranty whoas. This convinced me to go with the Geek Squad warranty because on the rare occasion that I have needed it, they were always easy and convenient. Don't know any other store that offers a better program.

    The price of the 5 year protection plan was fair. I like the fact that it is backed by the retailer. I have never had to collect on a Geek squad protection plan so I don't know how good it is, but I will be happy if the item lasts longer than the 5 years of the plan.

    Wouldn't recommend this service to EVERY product, but on a fridge for example, having the backing for 5 years for a product that can be a pain to fix is worth it.
