    A warranty worth getting

    My last machine was double the price and broke down just past the manufacturers warranty. It was not purchased at Best Buy and store said all the people who bought those machines saw them broken beyond repair within 3 years. No remedy was offered.

    I purchased 5 Year Geek Squad for my Kitchenaid dishwasher in January 2020, as I've had some bad luck with major appliances/ electronics. Sure enough, in November 2021 the dishwasher stopped working. I called Geek Squad and the helpful person (it turns out correctly) diagnosed the problem as either a pump or motor. A repair person wouldn't be out for a week or so, however. The repair person came out and said, "Yep, looks like a pump or motor." But did he have that part in his truck? No, even though that was the suspected issue. "It needs to be ordered & we'll repair it in two weeks (mid-December). Mid-December came and the parts hadn't arrived. I inquired with the Geek Squad-assigned repair shop, and they said it was "backordered." Of course, I was able to find the part myself in 10 minutes, ready for next day delivery, on major supply web sites, but that did not matter. Geek Squad informed me only after waiting 30 days (late December) could the repair be cancelled and a whole new dishwasher installed. I called in late December, and the person agreed to the replacement as long as another dept agreed; they did later that day (instead of within 3 days). Success! However, when I called to schedule the replacement, they said it wouldn't be until January 26. Frustraitng! But I waited. At 8:30pm on January 25, after previously receiving multiple emails confimring my appt, a person from XPO (?) Services, who does the actual installation, told me they had to cancel the appointment. Why? "The computer had accidentally assigned too many appts" ; I was being bumped to January 29. Unfortunately, January 29 was really difficult, as I had moved 2 other appts to that date to clear my schedule for Best Buy on Jan 26th. So on Jan 27, I called Geek Squad to see if I could at least move the Jan 29 appt to 7am-1pm ( instead of 12-8pm). The rep said "her calendar was gray" and she couldn't see what other times were available but would talk to another department, who would call me back. I said Ok, but I wanted to be clear to not cancel my current appt without verifying with me what the other time would be to make sure I'm available. She condescendingly said, "Of course I'm not going to do that." Within 2 minutes of hanging up the phone, I received a text asking me to schedule a new appt. Alarmed, I called Geek Squad, and the (different) rep sheepishly told me my January 29th appt had been cancelled...with no replacement. There was no record of why. The earliest he could schedule is February 16. I explained this should not be, but all he could do was send me to an "elevated" dept. After an hour talking and on hold with this elevated person, she accomplished nothing additional -- my appt was still on February 16. So I am going on 3 months without a dishwasher, and no assurance my wife and I will get one soon. To summarize: why pay $199 for service that doesn't actually perform? I just hope to finally, in February, get my dishwasher replaced and be done with this.

    I have Geek Squad protection on everything it's offered on! Bought a washer and have already used the protection when the lid cracked. Someone came right out and fixed it. No problems!

    So, the five year plan is actually a FOUR year plan because I am required to utilize the manufacturer warranty within the first year. This was not explicitly stated when I purchased the protection plan and is quite frustrating because Best Buy sells you a five year plan not a four year plus manufacturer warranty plan.

    Rolling the dice on this warranty. Hoping I never have to use it, but if I do, it will hopefully save me the hassle and expense of dealing with a repair company.

    Love the price discounts with this memebership, and for 2 years is a no brainer. I bought the switch and have saved a good chunk of money on a lot of games new. Obvious the more you buy the more you save, Depends on your addiction to video games.

    Protection is important. I only had to use it once . But, it saved me the cost of having to purchase a new TV. I will always cover my items with Best Buys protection plan.

    The Geek squad protection is so affordable for the peace of mind that you receive. They are always quick to respond when you are having issues with an item. I add it to all of my larger purchases.

    This is a must have! I was never a warranty person but products just aren’t made the same anymore and it is worth the price to ensure longevity. And the service is always quick and easy!

    I have it currently for my washer as I haven’t had to call on. However, years ago had the protection for my tv and they tried to fix the tv but when they realized they could not, they gave ma a new tv.

    They are very responsive but nothing was accomplished. They never followed up on things they were supposed to follow up on. My floor is damaged from the faulty installation from their installer.

    Yes geek squad is worth it! Once anything goes wrong Best Buy is there to save the day. Had plenty of experiences with them and every time they have come through with ease.
