    A year ago this service was phenomenal. This time the quality of work and service were not close to a year ago. Cables behind mounted TV were not tight and close to TV as they were for the TV they removed. Other TV had cables EVERYWHERE for a simple add-on of Sonos Connect. As photo shows, Geek Squad made no effort to put cables behind the furniture as was the case before the add on. Compliments of the local store manager, he asked his team to submit an order for a re-do.

    I paid to have my TV hung by Best Buy to minimize the damage to my brand new wall. The first crew that showed up hung the TV off center and 6 inches lower than I had asked. When I complained to the technician a second team was sent and when we took the TV down I realized the first team had actually tried twice to hang the TV making 16 extra holes in the wall. The second technician then measured from the wrong pencil mark and hung the TV 6inches too high. At that point the TV could only be moved down 3 inches without revealing any of the 24 extra holes drilled in the wall. It cost $500 to fix the wall so now I’m out $750 and my TV isn’t hanging,

    … got the measurements wrong and had to put extra holes in my apartment walls which will cost me. Very nice guys tho.

    I recently used Best Buy’s TV setup and mounting service, which costs $249 for delivery and wall mounting. However, I was disappointed with the overall service. It appears that the actual installation is carried out by a third-party contractor and bad communication between them and Best Buy, which may explain the low level of service provided. While the installation itself was completed, several issues arose. Many additional services—such as cable management or proper alignment—were not included and came with extra charges, despite initial impressions from Best Buy’s promises. Furthermore, the installers did not clean up the mess left behind from drilling, which was something I had expected as part of the service. For those considering this option, I would suggest exploring alternatives. Many specialized installation companies offer similar services at a significantly lower price, often for two-thirds or even half of what Best Buy charges, with potentially better customer care.

    The agent did not really have all of the tools needed to mount my TV correctly and now it leans over and I have to use something behind it to have the tv level. He also broke the cover that hides the wires and had to use tie straps to keep it on. See below pictures.

    The two techs that showed up were totally inept. They flatly refused to install the TV on the wall and wouldn't listen to my instructions. They said they only had 30 minutes allotted to the job and that my TV could not be mounted. Despite my protests the tech attached the legs and left my 65 inch TV on my brand new dresser. He threw his tools around on the dresser with me cringing each time he did so. He left a huge hole in my wall and scratched my expensive dresser with his carelessness. I tried repeatedly to speak to someone at Best Buy but kept getting the run around. I was told that I couldn't get a refund until the end of the day and the status of the job was reported. End of day they classified the job as 'completed' which was a complete lie. 30 minutes? I paid for expert installation and did not get it at all. This experience was nothing like the previous two wall mounts done for me. The tech was rushed, rude, and careless with his tools he kept slamming on my new dresser. Never again. I am beyond frustrated that I didn't get what I paid for.

    Agent had great personality. Also great salesman. Convinced spouse to add on sound bar (SB) mount. Big mistake. TV mount installation was OK. Was planning to set the sound bar on a shelf below TV and run optical cable to it though the wall (existing channel used for HDMI to cable box). Agent told spouse use of sound bar mount would keep cable to sound bar out of sight - well, the wall channel also keeps cable out of sight. Now, while installing the SB mount the LG optical cable was crushed between the mount & TV mount (both mounts Rocketfish). So, optical connection didn't work. Agent told spouse "some LG TV models don't work with some LG sound bars." The sound bar and TV were purchased as a package deal recommend by Best Buy. So, the agent sold spouse HDMI cable to bypass optical problem (cable agent crushed). I'm hoping to return the SB mount and use an optical cable (through the wall) to SB on shelf. Challenge is agent took all the "extra" hardware for mounting TV so I don't know how to get around the spacers needed to just attach TV to TV mount only. I won't be using Geek Squad for future installs - I'll a friend to help me lift the set next time. Save a lot of aggravation and unnecessary expense. Oh, the SB mount doesn't hold SB in place, looks cheap and gets in way of adjusting TV. Oh, if there were any installation instructions for either SB or TV mount, those are gone with the agent, as well.

    No worth it and mounted tv myself

    The first try the guy couldn’t mount it, showed up alone and it was an 83” tv, he tried to charge me $120 extra even though I was told at Best Buy when purchased it was completely covered. The second try after rescheduling, the new guy showed up alone as well to mount an 83” tv (impossible as the tv is much too large to lift alone), then didn’t know how to open the box and tipped the tv over by lifting the cardboard box over the tv instead of releasing the side locks (luckily I was standing on the side and grabbed the tv before it hit the floor), he was also preparing to drill holes and use hole anchors for brick after I told him several times it was wood completely behind it (you don’t use anchors for wood as they could pull out from the wall since the tv is so heavy), wouldn’t align the tv like I had requested and eventually got upset after I repeatedly asked him to and said he wasn’t comfortable mounting the tv (I had already stated before any of this if it was too much of an ask that he didn’t have to mount the tv and I would reschedule it wasn’t an issue or personal). The first try I didn’t have properly spaced studs for the tv mount so I fixed the spacing and rescheduled so it was his fault it couldn’t be mounted but the charge was not correct. The second try I only requested that the mounting stencil that came with the tv be used as I wanted to visually see where it was going to sit so if there was any adjustment I could do it before mounting it. Afterwards I didn’t trust for a third attempt and mounted the tv myself and saw that from the marks from the measurement of the second mount guy it was gonna be off by more than 1” and would not have centered on the wall as the mount does have that much alignment mobility as the holes only had .5” at most for variance so would have been off. I am glad I mounted it myself as it is how I wanted and meets my expectations. Wish I never paid for the mount def not worth it and they really just try to throw the tv on the wall and go to next job. I understand they are paid by the job and not the hour but really affects customer care. So honestly should even be one star but def a lesson learned and will never get this service again.
