    Geek Squad Fails

Agent had great personality. Also great salesman. Convinced spouse to add on sound bar (SB) mount. Big mistake. TV mount installation was OK. Was planning to set the sound bar on a shelf below TV and run optical cable to it though the wall (existing channel used for HDMI to cable box). Agent told spouse use of sound bar mount would keep cable to sound bar out of sight - well, the wall channel also keeps cable out of sight. Now, while installing the SB mount the LG optical cable was crushed between the mount & TV mount (both mounts Rocketfish). So, optical connection didn't work. Agent told spouse "some LG TV models don't work with some LG sound bars." The sound bar and TV were purchased as a package deal recommend by Best Buy. So, the agent sold spouse HDMI cable to bypass optical problem (cable agent crushed). I'm hoping to return the SB mount and use an optical cable (through the wall) to SB on shelf. Challenge is agent took all the "extra" hardware for mounting TV so I don't know how to get around the spacers needed to just attach TV to TV mount only. I won't be using Geek Squad for future installs - I'll a friend to help me lift the set next time. Save a lot of aggravation and unnecessary expense. Oh, the SB mount doesn't hold SB in place, looks cheap and gets in way of adjusting TV. Oh, if there were any installation instructions for either SB or TV mount, those are gone with the agent, as well.

Total disaster for a business install. I'm not sure where these 2 came from, or if they had ever installed a TV before. They were not from the Geek Squad. Thanks best buy for using subs! They left their oddly marked van parked in the middle of our busy driveway where we have big truck traffic coming and going. No one could figure who's van it was. Strike one. They didn't come prepared to hang the screens or followed our instructions. Strike 2. Both screens are hung appart from one another at different heights. Terrible experience. We will have to redo this entirely. Sadly this will tarnish what was a good relationship with Geeksquad in our area. Previous experiences were great.

We had to pay up front for the TV mount and an additional 249 dollars to have our TV by Geek Squad, but they showed up at our home with the wrong TV mounting bracket and ended up leaving the TV on the floor of our Livingroom. I ended up doing my own research and found the correct tv mount.

Waste of Money. Hire a real professional.

This was the worst “professional” mounting I have ever experienced. An absolute waste of money. The agents were very unprepared and started the visit by saying they had never set up my kind of mount before. After I told them the height I wanted the TV mounted, they marked the wall and “measured” all of the screw mounting points on the mount and the TV. When they positioned the mount on the wall prior to drilling the first holes, I questioned them about the location, because it very clearly looked like the mount was going to be too high. They said that they were sure it was correct because they marked the wall and measure everything. They then proceeded with screwing all 6 screws into the Sheetrock and studs, and after hanging the Tv on the mount, guess what- it was 5 inches higher than it should have been. They then had to redo the entire mounting process, drilling another 6 holes in my wall and barely filling in the holes created by the first wasted mounting attempt. I purchased this professional mounting so that I wouldn’t have extra damage on my wall. I could have done a better job myself. On top of that, they knocked the TV over when it was half out of the box, causing there to be internal damage that is now leading to TV operating problems 1 month later (of course right after my return window ends). They also scratched my TV console and left without cleaning up the Sheetrock mess on the floor that they created while completing the install.

The agents mounted my tv and connected it to all my devices. The thing that they did not do is zip tie the wires. It looks a mess and I'm not completely satisfied.

TV off center, room looks terrible

I had a 65-inch TV mounted and it is 4 inches off center on a wall where this very noticeable. The installers explanation was that the studs are off center and that this was the best that they could do. I am a rational person. I understand that if this is the case it is not a problem they would solve. I did not make them pull it off the wall and show me like some people would have done. I just said "ok, I will look into my options". They had already been there for 3 hours and I saw them use a stud finder as soon as they got there so I figured they probably are being honest. However, the more I think about how this played out I begin to get skeptical about the explanation for the following reasons: 1) Installers did not mention that the TV would be off center before mounting it. The job took them almost 3 hours. If they had to hang the TV off center they had to have known at the start of the job that this would happen. 2) When installers asked me to sign off on the job they still did not mention the off-center elephant in the room. 3) Not until I asked about the centering on the wall did they mention that the studs were off center and this was the best they could do. I am going to pull the TV off the wall with help this weekend to see if it can be moved and still have stud coverage. The installers were nice guys and I feel bad narcing on them but this is a major pain that I now need to deal with. In the future I advise them to inform the homeowner of any possible issues at the start of a job so they can have an option to proceed or cancel the whole job. Thanks

The representative gave me an awesome deal on the price. Was very attentive and helpful. However, even though the geek squad was nice people. They dropped my old tv and damaged my printer and entertainment center. They had to google a lot of things and never concealed any of my wiring leaving them hanging in plain sight. I do think they could have been more attentive and had a little more experience in their job. 5 ⭐️ For the representative and 2.5 ⭐️ For geek squad

Bad Installation Projection Screen & front speaker

A consultant came out and said I could upgrade my theater room to a 120" screen and get in-wall speakers. I told installers to let me know before they put up screen so I could tell them where I wanted it for proper viewing. They said they would tell me; however when I went to check on the room I saw they had installed the screen as high as they could right against the ceiling. I wanted a border of wall between the screen and the ceiling. It is a borderless screen and doesn't look good high up against ceiling and not proper eye level either. They also didn't put the front surround speakers out far enough and half the speakers is sitting behind the screen; and the screen doesn't sit right against the wall and projection 'leaks' out between the gap of screen and wall. When I asked about the front the front speakers they seemed not to care and just said the screen was big. They should've measured properly before installing front speakers. Again, the screen is too high, as the bottom picture from the projector is outside the bottom of the screen by about 5 inches. They tried shifting the and keystone but lost alot of picture/scene and was still outside the screen. They just said I needed a new mount, but I shouldn't have to pay for a new mount/installation. I hired geek squad to professionally install my equipment and they said they could, but I am disappointed in the results. I don't even feel like going into my theater room and wish I had left it as it was or hired someone else.

The agents mounted my TV, but didn’t double-check to make sure how high/low I wanted it. I was in my home office working (and trying to keep the dogs quiet). The tv is too high up and my neck hurts when I watch tv. I can only move the couch so far back.

Do not mount LG TVs through Geek Squad

I spoke with the technician before the appointment and had asked if he could install the included ultra flat wall mount that came with the TV, and I was told yes. When the technician came he had no idea how to do it with the new layout on the back of the tv and said he can only do it with the generic mounts he has in the van which would not allow the LG tv sit flat on the wall as designed. So not only was I lied to about being able to mount the TV flat, I was upsold on a new mount because the TV did not come with a stand.
