Great value with a few flaws

For $380 this is a huge TV for the price. I'm coming from a 80" projector so in size it's a downgrade but in quality it's an upgrade - you can only pull so much black from a white screen with a 500 lumen and I didn't want to put the big projector in a small bedroom because of the heat output. This TV fit the bill. Sure its blacks don't get as dark as a higher priced set and some of the shadow detail is washed out but after tweaking a bit it's pretty dang good for a sub-$400 unit. My original plan was to get the Hisense 4k, but I figured I'd try and see if I can live with the Insignia and put the $200 into something else. I've got no 4k content and can't stream it since I've got slow rural internet access. So far I'm glad I did. It's surely not as good as the Hisense, but it's "good enough". There's a good bit of backlight bleed on the edges when you have more solid scenes or darker scenes but it's not too distracting; I've actually gotten used to it. So if you don't mind giving up a little quality and saving a good bit of money don't hesitate to get this TV.

I bought this tv to replace a Samsung that acquired the "dots" . This tv is a great value and has a very good picture. I'm glad that I didn't spend more money on a tv that works no better than this one.

Can't beat the price of $299.99 for this 55". I've added an LG sound bar with a wireless sub (even though TV speakers were adequate). I like more bass than what the TV offered. Picture is incredible. Especially when I'm tuned in to BAMA football. Thanks Best Buy for the great deal.

I purchased this TV on 12/1/2016. Considering the price, I really had low expectations, but I wanted a bigger TV in my man cave. After setting it up, which is very easy btw, I was BLOWN AWAY by the picture quality and the sound. PS4 Gaming graphics were great. Blu-Ray quality looked good too. Streaming video was not as crisp as I liked, but I found out today that it was not the TV, but my ISP. When I upgraded to Comcast Blast, the streaming quality was much, much better. I would DEFINITELY recommend this TV. Might get another one for the bedroom. At $299, this is a STEAL!

I just bought my 55" insignia led TV and it looks and sounds fantastic. I was worried I'd have to purchase a sound bar too, but the sound is full and clear with the two standard 10w speakers. I hope it lasts longer than my rca did (turn your backlighting down to improve the life of your TVs!). Great value for 410 after tax.

Only lasted for 3 years and then the screen turned permanently blue. It was a great TV for the first 3 years before that happened.

I've had this tv about 6 months, having upgraded from a 40" Insignia. The picture quality is stunning- once you tweak the settings. NO tv looks good out of the box. You have to adjust the brightness, backlight, contrast, sharpness, color saturation, etc to your liking. Once I did that, I have to say that the picture on this tv better than than the one on my Sony Bravia. The sound also isn't bad for a flat screen. I have this mounted on the wall, and I have a Raspberry Pi hooked up to it for streaming. For the money, you can't go wrong with this tv.

This tv has a good picture and ok sound. It's more of what you get for your dollar. For the price I paid with this tv on sale it is a good deal.

This tv is great. It has amazing quality and an excellent picture. I would recommend to anyone for this price. I wanted it to be a 'smart tv' so I bought a Roku for like $50-75. Have had it for like two weeks and it has been well worth it.

I am writing this out of anger. Bought in April 2016 and it died December 2016. Bought the Geek Squad warranty. No one on Geek Squad could come fix it so they sent another maintenance company to fix. After waiting 4 weeks they finally came and the parts they bought did not fix my TV. Instead of getting a new TV, as I was told by a Geek Squad representative, the maintenance guys are taking it to their shop for another week to try and fix it. Not sure why I bought the Geek Squad warranty to be honest and lost confidence in this TV, Brand, and company. I feel like this is too much for a TV that is not even a year old. Feel like I bought a Lemon.

My husband is thrilled to finally get a 55" tv. I don't think that the picture quality is as good as other brands, but I can live with it. It might be better if we used it in a larger room.

I bought this TV for my room to pair with my 47" vizio running on my PC. for $300+tax. its ok. I didn't noticed the difference before I put them next to each other. Huge Quality difference especially in the color department. I mean Massive, I'm gonna sell this to my room mate for $250 and get a quality picture brand that has been well reviewed for the extra $ in name brands. its well worth the visual quality especially when I see every unsmoothed, off colored pixels. see the picture quality, left - insignia and right - vizio attached.

I was looking for a 55" TV that wouldn't be overly expensive but still have decent quality. I didn't need a smart TV as I have an appletv connected. This set was the right price and is a solid performer. I can't rate the audio because I immediately mounted it on the wall and connected it to a sound bar, but it looks great in my living room. I like that it has three HDMI inputs, so if the kids move the PS4 into the living room it won't be hard to connect. The picture is bright and clear, and I actually prefer that it has the 60hz refresh over the fake looking 120hz.
