Damaged package

Pump the brakes, it’s not the only thing she got. The package was damaged when we got it, Best Buy did a quick exchange. The ice machine we’ haven’t used yet ( sub zero temps here in the dakota) but I’m confident it’ll be just fine. I do recommend the extended warranty. I have a friend who’s a stataticion for warranty companies. This is the main appliance to get an extended warranty on. I’ll let you know if I have to use it.

Nor would an ice maker be able to get added to it. We were very used to having one in our rental apartment. I bought this as a surprise for my husband and we love it. We keep it on the bar in the recreation room and always have a bag of cubes in the freezer upstairs.

Don’t know if I can reattach the end of the plastic tray or not. It malfunctioned. 1 1/2 yrs old was a gift

I ordered this item online, which I sometimes I am a little worried about. Well, it arrived quickly but when I pulled the ice maker package out of the shipping box, the package that the ice maker came in looked beat up and worn, it was all taped at the top and edges. It looks like it was a returned item that was now shipped to me. I am not happy at all with this. It will be going back to the store and I will give them 1 more opportunity to ship a second one but if it looks the same I will be done.

Frigidaire doesn't actually make it, made by a company called Curtis International Ltd. After a month of emails, providing info and pictures as requested, they then wanted me to destroy the machine, take pictures again. Then, and only then would they even discuss what warranty solution they would give! Not worth any of the trouble, still no ice maker.

Ice maker, not freezer.

You are correct, the ice storage area is not refrigerated. It is intended that ice produced be periodically transferred for zipperlock bags for storage in a conventional freezer.
To make firmer/larger/drier ice, use colder water. Tip, let the first couple of batches of ice fall into the water reservoir to chill the water.

Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I didn't see anyone review this machine as producing WET ice anywhere - by that I mean the ice is slick with water and when you dump it to put in the REAL freezer it makes a giant clump that needs to be broken apart. I didn't want to spend $350 to have my ice maker replaced, thought this was a decent option. It's also fairly noisy in the kitchen. It's better than trays but that's as far as I'll go with the positives. Who want WET slick ice? The way the thing works the water that drips off your cubes drops below to be refrozen - so the ice literally sits above the water reservoir. Poor design and not worth the money. Will do more research. Not cubes either, long donut shaped ice with a hole in the middle from the ice fingers in the machine.

Doesn't work

However it doesn't work & we have to contact company which naturally you can't do on holiday. This is very disappointing to get something and try to use and it doesn't work
