Great detail and color. I play a great deal of video games and it has a great picture.

You get what you pay for. The screen went dead after 3 months

When it comes to gaming, monitors tend to come in every different size imaginable. However, the one thing that’s remained consistent is 1080 resolution for gaming with most GPU’s on the market. Acer has continuously delivered monitors for the vast majority of gamers, at a lower price than most of its competitors. At $159 (at the time of this review), this falls squarely in the middle of the 1080p gaming monitors in terms of price and feature set. In the box, you’ll find the monitor, a stand, the power cable, an HDMI cable, and the user manual. Oddly, Acer chose to include a standard flat head screw that will require the use of a screwdriver to properly install. This lacks the thumb screws that have been used for most monitors made in the last 5 years, so it was surprising to see them skip out on a tool-less installation. The benefit here is the VESA mount compatibility, with many thin monitors choosing to use a separate VESA adapter. At 23.8” this will serve most any gamer looking to upgrade from a standard 60 Hz display, offering a slightly higher 75 Mhz after updating your Windows display settings. On the right hand rear side of the panel, you’ll find the various menu toggle buttons, and a joystick controller which makes navigating menus much easier. This monitor also only includes 1 HDMI input and 1 VGA input for older PC’s, making this compatible with those who have an older system and only need a new monitor. The real benefit of this monitor is the inclusion of AMD FreeSync (not to be confused with Nvidia’s GSync), making this a great choice for those with console gaming systems or AMD based GPU’s that support this feature. The 1 ms response time make this monitor great for fast paced gaming sessions on First Person Shooters, keeping you freshly connected to a game session. A few gaming sessions, and I can confirm the monitor does a great job keeping pace with CoD WarZone, allowing me to follow the action a bit faster than my older 60 Hz monitor. Picture quality is as expected for a monitor in this price point, although I did notice that darker images tended to stay much darker, and colors were a bit more vibrant compared to others in this price range. The backlight does a good job of avoiding too much light bleed all over the screen but is more noticeable in darker scenes. I also appreciate the thinner bezel around the screen, which would likely make this easier with multiple monitor set ups. Just keep in mind that it really only has 1 HDMI input, so you’ll need a GPU that has more than 1 HDMI output to use more than 1 monitor. Overall, for the price, you’re getting a much better value, with an overall better picture compared to others in this price point, a faster response time for gaming, a 75hz refresh, and a VESA compatible option for those looking to mount your next display. If you’re using the stand, just make sure to have a flat head screwdriver nearby!

This HD Monitor worked smoothly for all games I tried, it does have FreeSync technology. Key design point is the 1 ms response time - colors were very sharp and changed fast. I used a few monitor test programs like EIZO. I thought this monitor worked great under test and for games. One game where I saw ghosting on other monitors did not appear on this monitor. You should note that IPS monitors will be a little more vibrant color-wise, but the IPS monitors don’t achieve the 1 ms response time that enables the super fast pixel color changes you need in some games. The unit is compact, solid and fits my desktop nicely to allow other monitors and my security camera display unit, phone etc. I did appreciate the Acer EyeProtect’s Flicker-less, Blue Light Filter – I did feel less eye strain; so that is another major design point I felt. The 24 inch size was what I wanted so everything about this monitor including the price worked well for me. Excellent technology at this price point. I do highly recommend this monitor.

75hz refresh rate really makes a difference. My fiance uses a non-gaming monitor for work out of the home and when she tried it the motion blur effect she normally gets is gone. So, as a gaming monitor, this is a really great one. I booted up Crysis and the in game motion is buttery smooth. I was pleasantly surprised by the omission of light leak around the bezel. The colors on this display really pop and the gamut seems very accurate that is to say not overly exaggerated like some displays. I will say that the feature set and settings on this display are very skimpy. You have one HDMI and one IEC cable port. Thats all. It is very nice that the power supply is embedded in the display itself to cut down on bulk around your desktop. This really is a great monitor. My only complaint is that while the setup and build was super easy, the actual build quality feels just a bit flimsy. Not a deal breaker by any means but just something I noticed. The silver lining is that its a super-light weight monitor!

I bought this to go with my other matching monitor so I could work from home. If it had the ability to adjust the height and angle like my other one, it would be perfect. I would recommend this though, it does what I need it to do and the picture on it is great.

Decent screen for the price! I play video games and my usual screen broke, got this as a temporary fix for a 2nd monitor, I might actually just keep it permanently for my build.

This is definitely not a gaming monitor. I would say that it is a very good work station monitor, but I would recommend against gaming on it. There is terrible ghosting, and also tearing, even when forcing v-sync. Just running the mouse across the screen, you can tell something is off. It sorta of stutters across the screen. I will say that the picture quality is very good. The colors are vibrant, and the blacks don't look washed. Running the Blur Busters UFO test is where you can really see it's issues. I was trying to play Crew 2, and it was very difficult because of how bad the ghosting and tearing was. It was also stuttering, which has me scratching my head. Forcing 75Hz refresh rate didn't help at all, as well as turning overdrive up or completely off. Likes: 1.) Easy to setup 2.) Good picture and black level 3.) Easy menu navigation Dislikes: 1.) Terrible ghosting and screen tearing while gaming 2.) Screen wobbles easily. 3.) VRB makes screen dark, doesn't work in game

Great price, very good monitor. My only complaint was the difficulty in getting a good combination of settings for spreadsheets. It has beautiful graphics but has been difficult for clarity of numbers on excel!!

Unboxing is very simple, you only need to open the box, remove the monitor with its respective cables and it's ready to connect and start using it. Once connected I was able to try the different image settings, a few default options and there is also the possibility to modify the settings to personal taste, nothing out of the ordinary. Regarding performance, it seems to me that despite being a 1080p monitor, it does not represent the colors very accurately, in addition to the fact that the refresh rate is very low, which causes the image to not be so smooth at all. I can say that when playing video from different sources the result is the same, a decent but not excellent image, you can enjoy watching movies or multimedia content and images but do not expect a super definition, in this section it is ok. Turning to the gaming part, I did tests with 3 known games and the performance left much to be desired, despite having configured, in this case Fortnite at more than 75fps with freesync on in alpha performance I couldn't get the image to be smooth and consistent, it can be played but I don't think it is a convenient monitor to compete, it is more for a casual player, in the case of Warzone and Rocket League with basic settings and at 70fps it is a little more smooth and playable, like I said before it is not enough for the competitive scene but yes It is possible to enjoy not very demanding titles, the base of the monitor does not allow you to position it at different angles, it only stays in a single position, in my opinion this monitor is not very expensive so if you do not plan to use it for professional use or for competitive gaming it can be a good option, however if your needs are higher it seems to me that there are other options out there.
