Customers enjoy the Nitro 5's performance, graphics capabilities, and backlit keyboard. Positive feedback also highlights its price, display, and storage options, along with its sturdy build. However, some users note that the battery life could be improved, and that the fan noise and heat generation are potential drawbacks. The weight of the laptop and the sound quality of the speakers also received some negative comments.

      Dear Michael,
We are sorry to hear this. When you plug the AC adapter into the laptop make sure you press firmly until you feel/hear a subtle click, to make sure it is completely plugged into the jack. If you've done this and it still will not charge, please contact Best Buy to inquire about a replacement/swap so you can get a working laptop.
We appreciate you taking the time to write this review.

I bought this for my son, along with a 2 year Geek Squad enhanced protection plan. The computer started producing blue screen of death after a few weeks. Best Buy said their warranty was worthless and I needed to send it back to Acer. Why did I buy this computer? Why did I buy a $300 worthless warranty? Why would I ever shop at Best Buy again?

I do not live in the US and I bought this laptop a couple days before returning to Ecuador so I did not have the time to test it. When I arrived to Ecuador, I started using it and quickly noticed that the touchpad did not work correctly while charging, it slowed down and it was really hard to use the computer like that. Couple days later, I was trying to play online and noticed that the microphone didn´t work at all! I sent it to repair using the Acer warranty about a month ago and I still haven´t got my laptop back so I´ve been using my old laptop to work!!! I´m really dissapointed as I spent good money on this product. x Expensive product x Faulty product x Terrible Acer support

    Great for gaming while travelling

This is a very strong gaming laptop that isn't as pricey as some other options but still offers plenty of power and bang for your buck. I know many PC gamers prefer desktops but if you are a gamer on the go and travel a lot, this is a great solution. The resolution on the screen is crisp especially for a laptop. Don't expect it to keep pace with a high end gaming monitor however. There is a built in number pad which is nice as many other models I have owned have not included this with the keyboard. There are often some suspect choices of where to put plugs for USB and power with any laptop but the Acer Nitro 5 does a great job with keeping things convenient and out of the way. The power cord is actually on the rear which I like. Fan can be a bit loud sometimes, but I use a headset so it rarely makes a difference. I've tried a few different games out of my steam library which all run smoothly, and even some more modern games like Halo Infinite feel smooth even if the same type of power you'd get from the Xbox itself or a top tier desktop. Again, a great value for a mobile PC gaming setup.

We have been shopping for a gaming laptop for my daughter for quite some time now. With all of the shortages going on it has been a struggle to find anything she likes that checks all of our boxes. The Acer Nitro 5 has done that and more! The 30 series GPU really does a great job with her favorite games like Fortnite, Minecraft, and even the first person horror games that are more graphic intensive. I even borrow it sometimes to play Warzone and it doesn't miss a beat! The display is great and doesn't get a glare when we hang out on the porch which has been a problem with a lot of other laptops and tablets we have had in the past. The RGB keyboard is an excellent touch as well! She really likes being able to customize the colors on the keys, just something fun to set it apart from other laptops. Noise level is not bad, of course if you are gaming the fans spin up a bit but that is to be expected! The battery does pretty good as well, but she does carry the charger with her if she is going to be using it a lot, running games takes a lot of juice! Overall this was a great option for her first gaming laptop and we couldn't be happier!

This is a laptop i definitely recommend for heavy gaming, with the right storage device. I was able to have over 30,000+ files for my sims game and over 15 packs while also having WoW on it as well, and it still ran as smooth as it did when i originally bought it!

My experiences with Acer have been pretty good over the years. They make solid laptops targeted towards specific audiences. The Nitro line is targeted at the gaming community. Unboxing the Nitro 5 was pretty normal – sturdy box with tight-fitting foam. It gives you the feeling the device has been well protected during shipping and handling. Remove it from the box and first impression is.. it looks like an Acer Nitro. Large, sturdy, slightly pushed forward hinge, with hints of red throughout the design. It has a bit of heft to it, but it’s somewhat to be expected in a gaming laptop. I would prefer it to be a bit sleeker, but I’m not terribly disappointed in the overall aesthetic. There are ports aplenty on this laptop. There are 3 USB-A ports and once USB-C with thunderbolt in tow. There is an ethernet port, HDMI, and headphone jack. I really like the location of the HDMI port. It is in the rear of the laptop rather than the side. I feel this is more natural for setups where a monitor is added. It gives me more flexibility with device and monitor position and cable routing. Open the lid to find a full keyboard with 10-key on the right. The full keyboard is a welcome sight. The trackpad is large enough. It could be a tad bigger, but it feels about right in use. Power the Nitro 5 on and you are treated to the keyboard servicing as somewhat of a progress bar, or at least I think that was the idea. It begins to light sections in succession from left to right. This went on for a few seconds before the screen came on. It puts you in the mind of a progress bar or bar wait graphic. This laptop came with Windows 11 installed. This is actually great, in my opinion. It is my first experience where I wasn’t asked to upgrade to Windows 11 from a factory Windows 10 install, and the experience was significantly improved. Flawless startup, information capture, synchronization of devices via account sign in, and update process. If you don’t like Windows 11, this may be the one area it shines over its predecessor. The Nitro 5 performs admirably in every way. Games install and load quickly, and in game performance shines for an i5 device – should, with that fire Gen 5 RAM and Gen 4 SSD. I like the high refresh rate on the screen, and prefer it over the higher pixel count. A good 1080p screen with 144Hz refresh is optimal for gaming on a laptop. The smaller screen doesn’t need the higher resolution, and the higher refresh rate gives smooth and solid gameplay. Tomb Raider, Rainbow Six Siege, and Call of Duty perform nicely on the Nitro 5. The Nvidia 3050 lives up to its billing with not only stunning visuals and smooth performance, but fantastic color accuracy and detail. Are there better experiences out there? The answer is yes, but at this price for this hardware it’s gonna be hard to beat. Add to that easy upgrading (lot’s of screws though) and Thunderbolt to enhance your gaming experience – this is great stuff. The keyboard is actually very good as well. I like it much better than my older Nitro, and other gaming rigs I’ve used. The Nitro 5 also performs well when doing video and audio editing. In short, it can handle the heavy lifting needed by gamers and content creators. If you want a strong laptop for gaming, content creation, and more, at a fantastic price, the new Nitro 5 should be under strong consideration.
