There’s no mistaking that this is an entry level gaming laptop. The specs and the build quality affirm that statement. Picture quality from the monitor is okay and I don’t have any problem with the refresh rate. However, fan noise at full computational power is too loud to my liking. Fan gets so loud because this laptop doesn’t have the bells and whistles of cooling tech that we find in the more expensive line-up of gaming laptop. Sound quality is nothing special though the volume is loud enough for playing games in a small room. The spec bears previous generation of CPU and GPU so yeah, entry level. This laptop is also quite heavy as it is quite expected for gaming laptop at this price range. The good news is, it’s no worse than other entry level gaming laptop I’ve used before. In terms of performance, however, this gaming laptop does quite well when the graphics setting is set optimally. Monster Hunter runs well with good framerates and it feels smooth. I somehow don’t really like the tactile response of the keyboard but that’s not something major. However, some players who rely on more responsive keyboard for e-sports might want to try the keyboard to see if it is up to their liking. Overall, I think this is a good budget gaming laptop that performs as intended by the spec. This laptop is useable for playing latest big title games, just don’t use max setting. Low and some medium setting is okay. And not only for playing games, this laptop is quite capable enough to edit photos and videos and of course running typical office apps. I think this laptop is geared more toward younger generation looking to get their first gaming laptop while using it as their school desktop at home. They will like the color LED illuminated keyboard and it will play Roblox and Fortnite without problems.

Punch line: great laptop! I have never owned an Acer brand before and this Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop FHD-Intel with 12th Gen Core i5 caught my attention while I was browsing BestBuy.com First of all, this is a Gaming notebook (model AN515-58-57QW), it comes with beefed up specifications that are more than enough for casual gaming (runs Fortnite, Borderlands 3 wonderfully). You get full HD 15.6 crisp ISP 144Hz display, 16GB DDR4 3200MHz of RAM, 512GB PCIe NvMe SSD and NVIDIA RTX 3050Ti with 4 GB GDDR6 of dedicated VRAM. I think those specifications are definitely on par with the needs of most notebook users. I don't run any heavy duty applications that need 4 times of its RAM, and this notebook has performed absolutely how I expected it. I like its design, the slim bezel looks clean and modern, the keyboard does not flex and thanks to the backlit feature I can use it in the evenings without any issues. I find that this Acer has great cooling implemented and it does not get hot when I play games on it. This is definitely a very affordable notebook, and I know Acer has even higher end models if you need a power house, however I am more than satisfied how it runs and glad I picked it up!

This computer is by far one the best computers that I have owned, The processor is fast which makes for uploading and downloading things effortless. When you want to pull up content you don’t have to wait anytime. Some of the features on the computer is the fact that the umber are on the side of the key pad. Not having to fo into the top of the keyboard to input numbers is a plus for me, it is like data entry style. The backlit keyboard is a feature that makes it sleek. I love the fact that you can change the colors to what you like. When you are laying in the bed at night, you can change the colors so it isn’t that bright. The computer is very heavy. If you plan to take it outside or carry it around just know it has a little bit of weight to it. The screen on this computer is unbelievable. It is bright, and the optics are crisp an clear. The gaming graphics are amazing on this computer it makes for a real life show when you play your games. if you are looking for an economical computer but puts out expensive features, this is the one for you.

When I got home, I tried to turn on the laptop and it never responded. I had it plugged in also and the light for it to show it was charging never came on. Tried a while later and nothing. Returned it to the store. This is pure foolishness that it’s a new laptop and doesn’t work at all. Never heard an I’m sorry or the inconvenience or anything.

    Great for architecture students

Had to make a quick decision when my previous laptop of 10+ years died the first week of semester. Knew I'd have to replace it eventually, but not on such short notice. Very pleased that I was able to figure out all the parameters of this laptop. Incredibly pleased with the core speed, though I still get a bit nervous when the primary fans come on at the same time. Technically can change the speed and response time of the fans in the Nitrosense, but haven't got the courage. Just reminds me of my old laptop trying to run the Sims 3. Also very happy with the graphics settings and fidelity. I can run the blender and 3D render software for my architecture classes without lagging/fuzzing. So far, the battery life is fine -- not great, and I prefer to keep it plugged in anyway; I don't always need to bring it around campus, so there's no issue there.

Powerful Enough for Any Game; Useful Network App

This laptop has enough GPU and CPU power and memory (16GB) to play any game. I tested it out on my favorite MMO (massive multiplayer online) and FPS (first person shooter) games and it performs flawlessly. The game video rendering is sharp and smooth, and the color is vivid. The Intel i5 CPU and the Nvidia RTX 3050 ti along with the 144 Hz display panel refresh rate is good enough for this laptop's full HD 2K resolution. It has a 512 GB SSD which is sufficient for at least a half dozen games, I only have 2 or 3 that I play regularly anyway. Features that I like include DTS X Ultra sound that is very good with headphones, a camera, a number keypad, and an app called Killer Intelligence Center, which can analyze and optimize the laptop's network performance. That is a very useful app, I wish I had it on my other gaming laptop! It has all the necessary ports, 3 USB, 1 Thunderbolt C, ethernet, 3.5mm jack, HDMI. There are a couple of features this laptop doesn't have that I wish it did. The ability to change the keyboard backlight color, its color is an intense red, not my favorite. Also is has no visual settings for game types or color temperatures. These are minor but nice-to-have personalization features that I wish Acer had included. Overall, the above notwithstanding, I would recommend this laptop for any casual gamer. You really don't need to spend more money for a higher end machine to enjoy great gaming experiences. The only reason I would step up is if you thought you had to have 4K resolution, but to me the full HD 2K resolution on this laptop is good enough for an enjoyable gaming experience.

The Acer - Nitro 5 15.6" Gaming Laptop FHD-Intel 12th Gen Core i5 is a good laptop for gaming and other tasks. It comes with NVIDIA GeForce RTX3050, 16GB DDR4 RAM, and has a 512GB SSD. This laptop is plenty fast for the games and tasks I use. It has a good screen with a matte finish. The matte finish is great while using it in areas where a light or window is behind you. It has a good keyboard with keys that are tactile with plenty of key travel. The keys are backlit in a red color. The backlit keys will only last about 30 seconds or so, then they will turn off. I haven’t found a way to adjust it. Perhaps it’s in the settings and I overlooked it. Swiping the trackpad does not bring the lights back on. I have to press a physical key on the keyboard to get the lights on the keyboard to come back on. It has several USB ports, Ethernet port, USB-C port, HDMI port, and Headphone jack. The laptop has a fast processor and the fan noise is at a minimum. I can barely hear it at times. When it does ramp up, it’s not as loud as some of my other gaming and Windows laptops. I do have several gripes. The bottom of the screen has a large screen. It looks kind of weird to me because all my other laptops don’t have a chin that large at the bottom of the screen. The charging brick provides plenty of power to charge it up, but it’s quite heavy. There is no Windows Hello and no Fingerprint log in options. The speakers are also lacking bass. They are OK, but not great. With that in mind, the laptop serves my purpose well.

Beautiful right out of the box, including the foam holding it in place. The sleek design, the red glow on the keyboard. It's just so cool and I love this laptop. And obviously we're going to start with gaming and how great and easy it is on this laptop. I have owned mini computer and console in my day but this is by far one of the fastest. I was smart enough to reserve it strictly for gaming and nothing else. In the past I have had that issue where I have loaded other programs onto it and it slowed the computer down. Obviously between not shutting down programs properly and overrunning my previous computers that made for not a great ownership experience. Now being a little smarter taking I plan to make this gaming laptop last for a while. Next design. First of all I love that there is a power attachment on the back and not on the sides. Also an HDMI in the back the way I feel like most laptops should be designed. Your typical USB ports are on the side like they should be. Booting up the first time accessibility will reach out to you if you need it first. Just sit there and the computer will introduce itself and tell you what to do. This is a must-have. So have it.
