Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the excellent performance and large screen size as major strengths of the Nitro 5 gaming laptop. Positive feedback also highlights the good graphics, RAM, keyboard, and overall value for the price. However, some users mention that the battery life could be improved, and the laptop's weight and potential for fan noise are recurring concerns. While some users find the laptop runs warm, others report it as easy to use and upgrade.

I got this to run HPTuners, and it runs everything I need to flawlessly. Other laptops sometimes have overheating issues while sitting on the front seat of a car with no ac while data logging, I haven't had that issue with this laptop.

I am NOT a pro at computers. Quite the amateur really. The Nitro worked right out of the box, set up was EASY and fast. You don't have to pay anyone to install everything or wait hours on end (if you do that stuff yourself). I was up and running within 20 minutes. Graphics, internet speed (load times much quicker vs. my older Toshiba), clean screen, etc. I do some gaming on Steam, and it works flawless so far. My son recommended the SSD, which I didn't know anything about, and I can't recommend that you get a laptop with an SSD! The load/start time from the power button to actual laptop "work" is less than 7 seconds. The memory is a little on the short side (512GB SSD), but I have a few external hard drives that work well with the Nitro. No issues at all. Love it so far!

Do your homework if you're looking for an affordable gaming laptop and avoid this one. This laptop can pretty much run most games without issues and also works fine without any problems. The only downside that its battery life span is very short. The battery will die within months of use and will have to be replaced. I have only had mine for 9 months and have been having battery and charging problems with it after the first 6 months. A quick google search for this specific laptop will show multiple results of customers having similar issues that I've had.

I bought this for my fiance as a birthday present and she loved it. Its a great gaming laptop. It wasnt too fancy which was perfect, because that made it less complicated and it was still upgraded enough to play all of the newest games smoothly.

this laptop is very nice for the price. you also get a sleeve type case with it. will play every game so far. granted some might be medium to low specs but still playable. I played on about medium settings on black ops 4 and ran about 80-90 fps. so I could probably have gone with medium to high settings and still get about 60 or so fps. another game I enjoy is Ring of Elysium and same specs ran about 40-60 fps. (that's good for that game as the game is poorly optimized.) they left room to expand for ram or hard drive. a few things I am not impressed with. they have the plug, headphone jack on the right side. those are usually 2 plugs you use and if gaming with a mouse can get in the way. a plus is that at least the power plug does not stick out to far and it makes a 90 degree turn so it does not come straight out. the monitor seems dark to me. I have tried to find how to get it brighter but cant. it is all the way up. the keyboard I don't mind the color. red and looks pretty nice. however my gripe with it is that the backlight does not stay on at all. and does not even come on if using a mouse. it has a timer that if not used it goes off. I would have liked to have an option to keep it on all the time, or at least turn on if I move the mouse. it can get on the hot end, especially on the left back area. this is where both the gpu and cpu spot is. not sure why they did not set it up so that those are on different sides farther away. the system pulls in from the right and out the back. I believe it also pulls in from the bottom. at least from what I felt, my right side vent did not blow out hot air nor could I feel it blowing out like it was the back. overall though, I love it, I love the color scheme of the whole system. one of my favorite color combos is red and black so perfect. it boots up fast with having a ssd. gaming it got on the hot end even with fans maxed but not over the limit that computers can get too. if you are looking for a laptop under 1000$ that will play games and not to thick, this is perfect. and you have a little room to by more ram, more hard drive space, or a mouse or maybe even a cooling pad. I don't know why laptops don't have feet like keyboards do that would raise the back a bit so a cooling pad helps a lot. overall love it. kids and wife do as well and usually on it while at home (as I have a gaming desktop).

Bought this for my mother-in-law. She loves the extra large screen. With the SSD, it boots exceptionally fast. Probably a bit overkill for her but it should fit her needs for years to come. And the value is excellent.

is fast and good specs ... the only thing is that the camera is kinda low resolution which i can always get a better one for it but as a gaming pc is fast and good quality for the price. i'd give it 4 and half stars .

The Acer - Nitro 5 17.3" gaming laptop is perfect for an entry level gamer. To start, the screen is huge, it comes equipped with Nvidia's GTX 1650 graphics card and Intel Core I5 processor, which make for a really smooth gaming experience. All at a price of around $850. It has Multiple USB connections, one USB-C, one HDMI, and one ethernet port. It has a nice design to it, with red and black being signature colors, and good size vents to keep things cool. After playing multiple shooters game, I found that this gaming rig kept up pretty well with the fast action games. One thing that I am not too happy about is the sound quality of original speakers. The sound was somewhat low. As for battery life, if you keep the keyboard backlight off, you can squeeze a few hours worth of game play. One other downside to this budget friendly gaming laptop is the lack of memory, coming in at only 512GB (SSD). If you want to install an HDD, Acer includes the necessary hardware to make that possible (they recommend you take in to an Acer Service Center to have this done). In all, this is a great budget friendly laptop. I would highly recommend it.

Fantastic laptop, and can handle most modern games on decent settings. Just watch the heat on prolonged high demand games. Comes w a temperature gage and fan control to help monitor that temp.

Still new at about a month or so but love the screen sharpness, he illuminated keyboard, and the overall sleek black look. Much lighter than my previous 17" laptop and much slimmer. Performance is very good, but Ill review more as I use it.
