Customers are saying

Customers consistently note the excellent performance and large screen size as major strengths of the Nitro 5 gaming laptop. Positive feedback also highlights the good graphics, RAM, keyboard, and overall value for the price. However, some users mention that the battery life could be improved, and the laptop's weight and potential for fan noise are recurring concerns. While some users find the laptop runs warm, others report it as easy to use and upgrade.

So far so good. Lots of preinstalled crapware, but after cleaning it up there's been no major issues and no problems. Assuming it performs well for several years, I'd say it's a very good product.

I got this laptop for both gaming and online school, everything works perfectly, it doesn’t get too hot. The battery life isn’t too shabby, and it’s overall a wonderful laptop.

Keyboard would randomly shut off. Died mysteriously due to motherboard issues that cost more than the laptop to repair. Short warranty. Decent spec ran games perfectly

Well it runs great, for a few days. It was purchased on 9/4 and the keyboard failed on 9/16. I purchased it after browsing all of the reviews on Newegg and Bestbuy, nothing super awful was posted. However upon googling "Acer Keyboard ______" you immediately get a million posts on a vast amount of their models with the same issues and dating back as early as 2015. It seems to be a common problem with Acer products, I advise to simply purchase a comprable ASUS, Dell, Alienware, etc.

Very Good Value For Entry Gaming Laptop

I really like this laptop. It is a bit over 6 lbs. It is definitely what we used to call "Desktop Replacement" class. It has a 17.3 inch screen, 1080p display at 60 hz, a current generation Core i5 Intel processor, 8 gigs of system RAM, a speedy PCIE NVME 512 gig Solid State Drive in 2280 length and a dedicated GTX1650 video card. Pretty decent components for this price range. It has an all plastic body build, but seems pretty sturdy despite that. One Con is that the body is pretty angular with some sharp edges. I happened to get this laptop right after the E3 electronics show kicked off, and Microsoft announced the Xbox Game Pass PC. So since this is advertised as a gaming laptop foremost, I upgraded to latest version of Windows (1903, required for the Xbox beta app) and Nvidia Video Drivers, and then downloaded the Xbox beta app. I installed We Happy Few, a fairly recent First Person perspective video game. I connected an Xbox One controller to the laptop through bluetooth and off I went. The game played very well on the laptop and I encountered no issues. The cooling fans kicked on and were noticeable when I didn't have a headset on while playing. This computer is upgradeable, but it doesn't have smaller hatches for component access like some other recent Acer Nitro laptops. It has a solid piece that covers the entire bottom of the laptop. You have to remove 12 little phillips screws, and then slowly pry (I used a smaller nylon composite no-mar prying tools) apart the case starting from below where the front of the keyboard is, i.e. the space bar area. Little plastic catches will release as you pry and you can work your way around both sides and to the back side, and take the whole thing off. Inside you will find space for a second PCIE NVME 2280 length SSD drive next to the 512 Gig stick drive it came with, a space for a 2.5 inch SATA SSD or HDD (screws and the cable are included in little baggies inside your laptop product boxs), and a second open system RAM memory slot next to the 8 gig stick the laptop came with. I had the chance to upgrade a few things about a week after I got the laptop. I put another matching 8 gig system RAM memory stick in to give a total of 16 gigs and enable dual channel memory mode. I also put in a 2.5 inch SATA SSD I had on hand for storage purposes. All in all, this is a fairly cost effective way to get into laptop gaming with a basic setup (1080p 60 hertz gaming), and also makes a very good productivity machine.
