Customers are saying

Customers recognize the Predator XB272 monitor's exceptional picture quality and high refresh rate as significant strengths, leading to overwhelmingly positive feedback for gaming experiences. Many appreciate the G-SYNC compatibility and vibrant colors, while the sturdy stand also receives praise. However, some users point out that the speakers are subpar and the price may be considered high by some. A few isolated reports mention minor issues such as dead pixels, but these appear to be less frequent.

This test was nice and easy and this monitor has found a permanent spot on my desk. I first played a few xbox FPS where you can truly appreciate the response time on a good connection. I was impressed that it feels quicker; I was not expecting to be able to tell but you actually can to a certain degree. Playing any console on a monitor is a win but the color output feels like it enhances even older games. Next, as a PC monitor it is clear, clean, and quick. Everything you expect and more. I will not ramble on here but in short, this is a GREAT monitor. My only two gripes are the speakers suck (why even have them) and I would have like a remote control. Other than that solid buy here.

    A Solid, Gamers' Monitor

The Acer - XB272 27" LED FHD GSync Monitor was a notable improvement for my semi-casual gaming experience. The 240Hz refresh rate and 1ms response time eliminated blurring or hiccups in the on-screen movement. The form-factor is effectively bezel-less, and the substantial stand provides a wide range of movement and solid, secure support. The built-in options for screen settings was also a plus. A couple of things to remember: The resolution is 1080 HD and this is a monitor for gamers. You can get great monitors for normal computer use for less. But for gaming, you need something like the Acer - XB272. A solid, Gamers' monitor.

    An absolutely great gaming monitor

This is a great monitor, with some minor settings adjustments. But let me go into more detail. First the monitor is made really well. The base is really sturdy and adjusts very nicely. You can raise and lower the monitor a good deal (somewhere in the range of 8-12" or so). You can also rotate the monitor 90º which is a cool addition. I wouldn't mind a little more tilt, but it's adequate. The footprint of the base is a bit wide, but since it has more of you might call "legs" rather than a base, you can kind of arrange your desk items around them. One nice feature is a hole in the stand to pass your cables through. The monitor bezel is so thin it's nearly invisible, which is visually pleasing. The finish on the screen itself is a matte finish which works best for my office with the direction the light comes in. The USB ports are also helpful for other peripherals that might need temporary connections for charging. I have connected it to my GPU via display port. I find that the display is incredibly sharp and at 240hz it's buttery smooth. Out of the box the colors were a bit muted and required some research and tweaking. I found some user made ICC profiles on Reddit that proved helpful. But after some time tweaking the display it looks really great. If we had some more manufacturer support in this, that would be great. Thankfully there is a community out there to help each other out. Also an area that is lacking with this monitor is the documentation. The quickstart guide that comes with the display essentially just tells you to plug it in and you are ready to go. There is some documentation about the various settings, but it completely leaves out a few or has descriptions that do not elucidate anything. (i.e. "Overdrive: Allows you to set overdrive" but what does this setting even do?) When looking online this seems to be the only "manual" available, even from the manufacturer's site. I had to do some research about how to get GSYNC enabled, but once I did my games have looked absolutely stunning. No screen tearing, and buttery smooth motion. I am a big FPS lover and I have been really enjoying the personal performance improvement I have been seeing. One last thing, the included cables feel a little short for my set up, I couple of extra feet would have been nice. So be aware of that going in. Overall I have really been enjoying this upgrade to my set up. It is a really fantastic piece of equipment, but I would enjoy some extra manufacturer support to help us out getting things set to their optimum out of the box.

      Dear George,
We appreciate you taking the time to write this review. The LCD panel on this monitor is indeed TN, but that description is not referencing the panel type. The reference to IPS is comparing the color quality to an IPS panel, but we understand how this can be confusing. We have notified the appropriate team to address this reference, and make corrections where necessary.

Still use this monitor to this day as a daily driver! colors are excellent for it only being a TN panel and it being 100p helps me drive a higher fps with my system [not that a 3090 couldn't handle higher resolution]

I am a believer in 240hz monitors after getting this one - absolutely incredible. I cannot state enough how much this helps when playing FPS games like COD or Battlefront 2. I don't know that I could play FPS games again without a monitor like this. Can't wait to see what Madden 19 for PC looks like on this as well - I'm sure it will look gorgeous also. The colors on this monitor are great, and of course the refresh rate is the primary selling point. All in all, HIGHLY recommended.

Best non-4k screen, terrible audio but who cares

Coming from a 23.5" 60Hz monitor to this 27" 200Hz beast really showcases the features that separate a true gaming monitor from just a regular monitor. Running 3D Mark before and after on the same video card was like a night and day difference with respect to screen tearing. And the size is right at the sweet spot to fill my field of vision when sitting at my disk, without having to move my head to see everything, especially gaming UI elements/HUDs typically located at the sides/bottom of the screen For some reason, they included some truly awful, tinny sounding speakers into this monitor. There is also a headphone/aux jack built in. Since both DisplayLink (required for GSync) and HDMI carry audio, this means that I could hook up both my computer and my spare Nintendo Switch dock to the monitor and connect my desktop speakers to the monitor, allowing me to listen to whatever I was playing without using the audio switch I had employed as a workaround. I loved that the monitor was VESA ready (previous monitor required an adapter) and that both DisplayLink and HDMI cables were included in the box. The 4 USB 3.0 ports should also prove to come in handy. The controls located on the backside of the unit, however, are sort of annoying and require way too many button presses, especially when trying to lower the terrible sounding audio. The fact that this display maxes out at 1920x1080 doesn't bother me in the slightest, since I'm still rocking a GTX 770 from the stone age. 4k gaming, while pretty, isn't quite at a point yet where I feel it's a must-have, since I'd rather have 1080 graphics at 60+fps than 4k graphics at 30fps.

The Acer - XB272 27" is an excellent gaming monitor. It is very easy to set up and looks sharp. It has everything you'd want to maximize your gaming experience. Multiple picture presets, G-sync, 240hz refresh rate all contribute to sharp, virtually blur free images. If you are looking for the perfect gaming monitor this is it!

    Not Perfect ... but ...

    Posted .
This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.

This gaming monitor is not perfect by any stretch of the imagination but it comes darn close to being great and the compromises are minimal. Acer claims it approaches IPS color profile performance and I found this to be true ... even before putting my calibration colorimeter on it. Yes these TN panels can have limited off-angle viewing and various degrees of light bleed on completely blacked-out screens but I've compared a bunch of these so-called gaming monitors and this one is pretty close to the level of perfection I expect for my hard earned money. I am also cost conscious and prefer my monitors to draw 30 watts or less for the performance I am looking for. This gaming monitor meets that metric! Important note: Make sure to adjust your Windows 10 display properties right away to reflect a minimum of 144 Hz operation or you will be unhappy with the clarity of video, text and edges of the displayed view. I forgot to do this straight away and almost returned this monitor. If you do forget to make this critical adjustment you will find that gaming performance looks fantastic but the more day-to-day stuff like watching YouTube or doing email will be perplexingly sub-par. So make the display properties change to 144 Hz (or higher if you want... because 200 Hz and 240 Hz do look marginally better at the cost of higher power consumption) and be amazed at how good this TN based monitor can look. Sure there is a small amount of yellowing at the far extremes of the panel (off-axis color shift) but it's minimal and the newer Win 10 dark themes help to mitigate the appearance. Your tolerance to this may vary but personally I've seen many other gaming monitors in the 2K and 4K vein that have much worse screen uniformity across color, lighting and clarity. And monitors of that caliber are markedly more expensive. I highly recommend giving this monitor a try. CoD MW Remastered looks truly amazing, as does Quake Champions - two titles I play regularly. I would also recommend that any potential buyers use one of many YouTube 'earthscape' videos shot from the international space station to check out their settings. If you have it right, the clarity is mind blowing... and this isn't even a 2K panel much less 4K.

I got an amazing deal! Awesome monitor!

So I got this monitor yesterday for $265 Open Box: Fair condition. I also purchased 4 Years of geek squad for 68 bucks? When I arrived at the store, I asked to see the monitor to see any physical/pixel damage. I ended up receiving a BRAND NEW one off the spot, because I guess they sold the open boxed one before I arrived? I'm not too sure how that happen but I'm EXTREMELY HAPPY. Onto the monitor, its a 240hz panel G sync 1080p with 1ms response time. I purchased this for FPS games (since I have my 1440p monitors for story mode) and it MAKES A DIFFERENCE. I've been using 144hz for the past two years and I love it! But 240 with g sync looks unreal. Also keep in mind that I have two 27 inch g sync 144hz 1440p Dell's paired with this thing and this is probably one of the best 1080p panels I've used. I know it's a TN panel but it looks amazing to me. Overall, I LOVE this monitor for fps games and I suggest it to anyone looking for a 240hz panel. The only negative I can say is, if you don't plan on using this monitor for competitive games, get a 144hz panel 1440p. I have a 1080 TI and I only reach in that 200fps when I play on low settings on low demanding games (Siege, CSGO, Overwatch, etc.) So expect to run those low settings for maximum performance!

First off you must calibrate this bad boy to get the full benefit. I honestly was unimpressed at first but jumped online looking for calibration settings to help get its mojo back. My biggest gripe is the size of the stand and the buttons that require you to learn exactly where each button is since there is no labeling. Did I mention mojo? This monitor is a fluid beast, its supreme with first person shooters. It doesn't skip a beat and is a fluid as water. If you are a serious gamer looking for a quality display then stop looking, this is the one. Fire it up, do some calibrating, sit back and enjoy.

Admittedly, I'm not as much of a gamer as I was "back in the day". Priorities change and life takes us in different directions. I do, however, appreciate a lot of monitor real estate and a great picture. At 27", the Predator XB272 fit my needs perfectly. I didn't care for the initial settings as they were way too bright. Other reviewers have mentoned this as well. Given everyone has color brightness preferences, this isn't that big of an issue. I really liked the stand and mounting options. Everything felt very solid and well constructed. Some monitor stands feel very flimsy.
