Terrible jigonisitc film
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Only good thing was the torture scene which sadly was not quite graphical. Still it was nice they made that female spy suffer for her sins.

Courage and Honor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Reading the "professional reviews," I disagree. What makes this film so great is the fact the actors are actual Seals that have done it for real not some phony hollywood actors pretending they are brave, courageous, dedicated, true brothers that only those who have served become.

Amazing Action Film
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I'll start this off by saying that I LOVE this movie, but I'm going to try to give a fair review of it. If you're into action movies this is a must have, great cinematography capturing some amazing action that is real. Essentially this movie is one giant Situational Training Exercise with a simple plot thrown in. All of the stunts are performed by the SEALs and are what they would do in a real combat scenario, and many of the scenes are live fire exercises. So the action is truly amazing and any action junkie will love it. However, if you're looking for a real in-depth, amazing plot, this movie is going to disappoint you. The plot can be wrapped up in just a few minutes and has no real twists or any sort of spectacular writing to it. Also, as expected, the acting is nothing close to award winning. For untrained actors the SEALs do pretty well, but at times they seem to be trying too hard to play themselves. Overall: Great action movie that, like most great action movies, lacks any thread of an in-depth plot. If you love action, you'll love this movie. If you love plot twists, not so much.

Adrenaline on Steroids
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Is there progress to be made in depicting the war on terror in film? What if you depict events in that war starring the brave individuals who are actually fighting it? Crazy, right? But crazy enough to work? The film opens with voice-over of a man reading the always heart-wrenching last letter. Later we’re introduced to two CIA operatives deep inside an organization with ties to terrorists. Lisa Morales (played by Roselyn Sanchez) and Walter Ross (played by Nestor Serrano) are acting as aid workers in a small town in Mexico while investigating the town’s benefactor, commonly referred to as Christo. Christo (played by Alex Veadov) is a smuggler with ties to a Muslim extremist by the name of Abu Shabal (played by Jason Cottle). When Morales and Ross (Sanchez and Serrano) are discovered, Ross is killed and Morales is kidnapped and held hostage so that she can be tortured for information. Once those in authority discover signs of a struggle in Morales’ residence, a crew of Navy SEALs is called in to perform a rescue mission. Revealing any additional details would give away too much of the story. Now, having only seen the film once, character names and story arcs are kind of a blur. Also, as the names of the lead “actors” in this film are being withheld for security reasons, any praise or criticism of any particular cast member is pointless. Of course, these men are not actors. Then again, I’ve seen plenty of highly-paid actors star in films that weren’t half as interesting. Every action scene was a thrill a minute and those moments in-between were a welcomed relief. I urge all of-age action fans to see this movie at their earliest possible convenience.

great!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First of all, if you get this movie expecting it to be all hollywood, forget it. I love the fact that these are real seals and they had input on everything. Its not actors trying to be soldiers its soldiers doing what they do everyday. This is close to real and in some shoots they use live rounds at training fascilities. Seals train in real world scenarios with live ammo. The story is good enough and it has some moments where you really feel for these guys if you don't already in real life. The acting is good enough, in my opinion. Seals are bad a** and i loved this movie. These guys love what they do and love each other. They are low key and do not brag about what they do. They just get it done period. Great movie and thank you to all that serve. I am truly greatful for all that you brave men, women, and families do for us. Great movie....buy it now!

Intense!
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This isn't your ordinary "Hollywood" war movie. There's no celebrity actor dodging explosions and saving the day. This is the real deal. This movie will have you at the edge of your seat until the end. The first-person camera view is amazing. It makes you feel like you are there. Of course, the Blu Ray picture and sounds are excellent. This movie is worth every penny and should definitely be a part of your movie collection!

Excellent movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Some reviewers have called Act of Valor a "glorified recruitment video" If that is the case, it's a really good one! Featuring active duty Navy Seals, the movie gives us a glimpse of what a real life mission in the War Against Terror might look like. The plot and the threat were highly plausible, the action scenes were intense and very realistic. The only knock I have is the dialog. It seems unnatural and overly simplified at times, and far less profane than I imagine these men truly speak.

Outstanding Movie
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. This movie may seem like a recruiting film for the Navy SEALS, as it was filmed using Active Duty Navy SEALS. They show the cool weapons, tactics, and fun gadgets that they utilize in their normal job. The acting may not be perfect, but they are not actors, they're active duty military. The action is amazing, the tactics are perfect (as they should be). I have already watched this four times, and it will definitely be watched many more times.

Despite great action, an underwhelming film.
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Act of Valor is almost one of those films that is near impossible to review, simple because to say anything negative about the cast, crew, or movie in general is to say that you automatically hate all of the Armed Forces and therefore hate America by default. I say "almost", because there have been numerous negative reviews of this film, and of course every single one has been given the typical, "you-must-hate-America-so-shut-your-mouth" treatment. I see no reason why my review will be given any less of a response. There is a reason why Navy SEALs aren't typically employed as actors. Allow me to applaud the constant sacrifices of those to serve in our Armed Forces and I am certain that Navy SEALs are great at many things, but sadly, acting isn't one of them, and this is the greatest downfall of this movie. One could claim that asking for a good performance from this cast is asking too much, because the film is about the action, not the acting capabilities of the cast. I would agree with that argument only to a certain extent, in that we only care about the action if we care about those who are at stake, and there is never a moment in this film where we get to know any member of the cast past their one-dimensional roles. Outside their fighting abilities, these characters are never developed on any personal level. We are given little to no back story, their personality traits are bland, and the dialogue is beyond dull. If the audience had only been given a reason to care about these men, we could have gotten invested in their plight and genuinely cared about their struggle, because the action and cinematography alone almost carry this film! There were several moments in this movie that I prayed we would get just one good performance or two because the action sequences are some of the best I've seen this decade, but that's all for nothing if you can't give us a reason to cheer for our protagonists. I really wanted to like this film, and in the hands of better screenwriters and directors (as well as actors), this could have been good. Sadly, we're given a clichéd plot and sub-par acting that simply leaves us wanting more.

Humbling and an Honor
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am honored to see this movie. I have always held the United States armed forces with high regard; especially the elite units like the Navy Seals. I don't care about the acting, cinematography or plot. This movie gave me a deeper appreciation for our troops and reminded me how many people have died or been injured to preserve our way of life.

Great movie for SEAL team fans
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Great pace and action scenes. The cast was comprised of actual Navy SEALs and they do a pretty good job of acting, considering that they are soldiers, not actors. Special features are the best and really introduce you to the SEAL team members.
