One of the best films this year. Brad Pitt is good.

I felt that the first half of the movie was wonderful however, the second half went way to slow.

Telling the story of an astronaut's journey to Neptune in order to reunite with his estranged father becomes a metaphor for communicating deeper wounds in James Gray's Ad Astra. Starring a terrifically memorable Brad Pitt, the pensive meditation also speaks to deeper truths while displaying gorgeously spectacular visuals. The sci-fi drama lands on Ultra HD with a beautiful 4K HDR10 presentation that offers a welcomed step-up over the Blu-ray but the Dolby Atmos soundtrack is relatively similar to its DTS-HD MA counterpart. Featuring the same set of supplements as the BD, the overall UHD package is recommended for hard-nosed sci-fi fans and the curious.

This is a pretty good film. Beautifully shot. Brad Pitt delivers a great performance. Been a fan of his for years but this performance stands out to me. If you love sci fi and Brad Pitt…get this film!

The voice-over in the beginning of the film describing the mission sure sounded familiar, even the pacing, to a film from the '70's A.N. with a similar mission 'take out a decorated officer'. Good sci-fi, but not on the same level of Interstellar, a five star film.

Ad Astra is a really fun sci-fi film starring Brad Pitt and it looks great in 4K This is a film that needs to be seen by more people as it isn't very well known. If you enjoy a good science fiction movie then you definitely need to check out Ad Astra.

Good plot but you really have to love science fiction to sit through 123 minutes.

$10 for a 4k movie on Black Friday is a good deal. As for this particular film... The special effects are pretty and show up nicely in 4k. The story and script though are bland, and far too much of the movie relies on Brad Pitt's internal monologue.

I can honestly say that there are moments in this film that I’ve never seen visually before in film, tv, etc. The 4K looks amazing. Performances are great, though Pitt’s performance as a hard-to-rattle astronaut can come across as wooden, but I think that he’s perfectly portraying that kind of personality.

I liked it. Definitely different and not quite what I was expecting. I’m a fan of these types of movies. Interstellar is one of my all time faves and this doesn’t quite reach its level but I also feel like it maybe wasn’t trying to. It’s a good movie and I definitely recommend it.

This one is a slow burner. I truly had no idea what the story was about going into this movie. All I knew was it was Brad Pitt in space and that was enough to warrant the purchase. Luckily it was on sale because it's not a movie I see myself going back to time and time again. I was hoping for something along the lines of Gravity or Interstellar but it's definitely it's own thing. Little hints of both the movies I just mentioned but it just wasn't my cup of tea. Story was good, cinematography was solid, visuals and CGI were up there so overall I didn't hate it and rating a middle of the road 3 feels just right to me.

The beginning was very compelling. However, once the main story kicks off, the movie becomes more introspective in a plodding way. I believe that the film was finished in a native 4K digital intermediate...it looks wonderful in 4K. Bought it blind, and I don't plan on watching it again.

This movie seems to be a little underrated in my opinion. The visuals throughout, coupled with the atmos sound field give the high points a pretty exhilarating feel. The movie revolves around the younger Astra missing out on much of his fathers life, and its all due to a similar mission. Sure there's some slow points that build the plot, but there's also plenty of action scattered throughout. This all comes together for a slightly suspenseful ending to button everything up. If you have a 4k tv and the ability to play this in the Atmos sound format, then this will be an enjoyable movie!

Ad Astra movie, or For the Stars, is a vehicle for Brad Pitt, Tommy Lee Jones, Liv Tyler and Donald Sutherland to show their acting chops among the Infinite, find alien life, save Earthlings, and conquer the broken man-boy-Daddy barriers of Time as they travel out toward the Stars. Beyond Neptune. The CGI and photography are awesome, but the plot sucks and character development and acting wooden.

The guy on the cover there is Brad Pitt. He's this hollywood actor who once played a stoner guy in a Tony Scott film that was supposed to be a Quentin Tarantino film. But don't worry, because years later, he was finally able to be in a Quentin Tarantino film. Which film, you ask? You guessed it: Once Upon a Time in Hollywood!!! Also, he is in this movie, Ad Astra. Tommy Lee Jones is in it too, which is interesting because he was in a Coen Brothers film (No Country for Old Men) and so was Brad Pitt (Burn After Reading.) Small world right???

Enjoyed the movie. It is definitely not for the masses. Many will view it as slow and boring. Many watch movies for the mere fact of entertainment and not dive into what the movie is really about. This movie can make one appreciate life
