    Ridiculous upcharge

    Geek squad adds on an upcharge just for mounting above a fireplace, even if it's a simple drywall job. In my case, I already had a TV mounted above the fireplace, and it was to be relocated to another room and replaced with another TV. The tech left my original mount and just hung the new TV. He did a great job. However, I have a problem paying an upcharge for mounting above a fireplace when it's unwarranted. I called that day to get a refund, but the rep said that the job hadn't been posted as complete yet, and they gave me a ticket number. I have since been unsuccessful with getting this rectified after calling multiple times. I need someone to call me back to process my refund.

    The guys couldn’t install the tv above fireplace!! They looked like they tired and they wanted easy work !!! So they said they can’t install on fireplace They install on the wall !! The work was too hard to them because the TV is big!

    They did try to teach us how to use it but I wish it was complete job

    Kyle had difficulty, partly because we had the wrong cable box from Spectrum. However, he did not set up all the Linksys modules. One still is not working. We still have unresolved issues. We also need some small Sonos speakers.

    Not a necessary expense if you have an electric fireplace. Shouldn’t have let them talk me into. Wait until the installers come out to make the decision. There was no issue with my install, but this charge was not applicable to my circumstances.

    Unecessay charge for install above fireplace

    18 inches above the fireplace is an opening 45" w X 36" h x 30" deep. this was made for putting a Tube type TV in. The opening has a frame bolted into the sides and vertical struts for additional strength. The mounting bracket is securely bolted into the frame. The installers unplugged the cable box, etc. and lifted the TV off the mount. They removed the straps from the old 55" TV replaced them on the new 65" TV and lifted it Back on the mount. I was told by Geek squad customer service that on three different occasions that the installer would be able to make a determination if the charge was warranted. he told me that he had never been told that he could do that. Is someone lying are is it poor training. This was a regular install nothing special was required or done.

    They were pretty good installing my tv on a stone fireplace but I was charged an additional $20 for “special bolts and drill bit”. I already paid $150 through Best Buy why am I charged again. The home consultant should have informed me of a possible additional charge.

    On time is about the only thing that went smoothly The geek squad stated that the soundbar won’t work with this model tv I Removed the brackets from the tv and mounted the soundbar myself after the geek squad left

    Showed up over 4 hours after scheduled time (8:45 pm). Supposed to be the Geek Squad , obviously sub-contracted as 2 “installers” pulled my 75 in TV (lying flat) in the back of their truck into my house. Nothing on them or their vehicle said Best Buy. When the “installer” started using vise grips on an allen head screw, I asked them to leave that I would do it myself. My wife and I installed it the next day on our vacation. The charge for this was $350. Over the fireplace, sound bar mount and Geek Squad setup and installation. On top of that try and call support and wait on hold for an hour or two. I guess I am not the only one with service problems. This was a $3800 purchase and my last at Best Buy, Hello Amazon.

    The two gentlemen that came to my house did an excellent job of mounting my television. They were very courteous and did not leave a mess. They made sure everything was in working order and I knew how to operate all the equipment before they left.

    I'm impressed by the way the two geek squad members installed my new tv. They called and confirmed when they expected to arrive and showed up as promised. Handled the installation over my fireplace. took the time to explain and answer any questions I had.

    Vendor named John. He came in with dirty shoes. He was too short to compete install above fireplace. Thankfully, Anthony, his helper was able to help. Drilled 6 holes in studs before being able to mount successfully. Had to pull out vacuum to clean up mess. Very negative person, ex., kept saying things like mount won't work, outlet is in wrong place, can't do that, we're not geek squad, etc. After TV was turned on, no assistance with going through tv options. Will not recommend Geek Squad as I paid 199.99 for 1 yr, 79.99 for install above fireplace, 50.00 tv set up and another 50.00 tv set up moving old tv to bdrm and had horrible experience.

    After entering he insisted that the mantle had to be removed in order to mount the TV. We the other "tech" arrived he started looking at the mount never said a word. The first "tech" than began to measure over the fireplace and stated he could not mount it because the studs were to far apart ( my husband had already removed mantel because of first "tech" statement) . They would not mount because he stated he had a family to feed and did not want to lose his job. They apologized for not being able to complete the job and left. We called in a reliable contractor who mounted the TV with no problem. We cancelled our geek squad service the next day.

    Used equipment already attached to the wall

    The agents mounted the TV on the mount already attached to the wall so there was nothing special about it being above a fireplace. I don't understand the extra charge for this when there is no real fireplace or chimney involved (gas logs only).

    terrible service, seems like they have no idea what they were doing. maid extra holes on my new tiles on fireplace. couldn't even put the bracket in the middle of the fireplace. had to take a sick day from work and supervise the whole process. worst they were trying to convince me that the Tv look good and best can be done, i paid $600 for this and didnt expect nothing less than perfect, almost drop my new $4,000 TV, had to help them hold it, also wear shoe protectors in costumer house, dont be on your phone, and dont tell me you are in rush

    up selling at it's finest, talked to the chat box before setting up the install and paying for it. the sales rep i spoke to did not mention the up charge for installing over a fire place, and insured me they would have no issue running my cables through the wall for me. checked out and had to pay for the additional "fireplace" service, then when the service guys showed up they would only run cables through the wall for me if i paid for the kit they offered at double the price on amazon... next time i'll do it myself
