I have had Geek Squad for set up a few times now. This time it was not the same for me. I understand that the installer was not an employee of Geek Squad. A third party installer. It seemed that he could not get finished quick enough. I received little to no explanation of how this new equipment works. Now I am fumbling around trying to figure it out.

Bought a new IMac and had an AirPort Extreme router which I wanted to set up behind my AT$T fiber Gateway. I probably could have done it myself but because the Airport needed a kernel update, I decided to hire the geek squad. Hours after arriving the tech informed me that there was not a pass-through option on the Gateway and thus he could not include the Airport into the network, other than as a WiFi extention . I told him that he was wrong about the Gateway but to forget it and just make sure the IMac was running properly and leave it at that. I left for the weekend and came back 3 days later to use my IMac for the first time and to my horror, realized he had plugged the Ethernet cable from the modem into an Ethernet passthrough port rather than the data input on the Gateway. A Uverse receiver was plugged into the data port and my new IMac was sitting outside the Gateway firewall with the Computer firewall accepting all incoming connections and data sharing turned on. The system had been unlocked and plugged in for 3 days. I decided to erase and reinstall the Mac OS Sierra after I corrected the Ethernet cabling issues.

They did what I couldn’t. They were fast and thorough.

Installers got my system working with network - great job done. I'm very pleased overall.
