Not Necessary

I was talked into this by the sale rep in the store. Other than connecting the wires, nothing else was performed. I know this is basic setup, but this was novice work.

Fantastic

They set up everything and were very patient in showing us how everything worked and took a lot of time doing the installation. They have also been great for my neighbor and make sure to let us know that we can call them at any time if we have any questions about the system. We have not had to call, but my neighbor has several times and they are very responsive and willing to stop by to make sure she understands how to work her system. I would definitely highly recommend this service!!!

Ask for the Geek Squad

I basically redid it after he left. Have had the Geek Squad many times and will use again. Just ask for the actual Geek Squad.

Install failure
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.This is more of a Geek Squad Review. But does touch on Best Buy's customer service philosophy. I was looking forward to having my newly purchased Sony XBR55X900E TV installed today. But it was not to be. Upon my Geek Squad Tech arriving, I showed him where the XBR55X900e would be mounted. As well, I showed him the brand new, never used full motion wall mount I purchased elsewhere. Without any effort to inspect the mount or exploring how the mount attaches to the wall, He dismissed my mount as "unsafe" even though it is rated for 55" TV's up to 89 pounds, and sold by a major retailer. The Tech did offer to sell me a different wall mount off his truck, a proposition that I found distasteful. Interestingly, BestBuy offers many similar mounts with identical attachment hardware. The attitude conveyed is if ‘you don't buy my TV wall mount, you don't get your TV installed’. One positive comment for the Tech, was he remained courteous throughout our brief encounter. While the discouraging downside is the overall impression conveyed that he was more interested (as it turned out, the impression affirmed by the BB manager as well) in refunding the transaction. In fact, the attitude was rather cavalier, more so - we would prefer to refund rather than satisfy a customer. When asked for the name of the Tech’s managers, I was informed that the Tech currently does not have a manager, or any other supervision. He did volunteer that a colleague was filling the role until a manager is hired. The broader downside (which BB is eager to explore) is to ignore the impact of poor service on future sales. In my case, I was planning to replace all my appliances via Best Buy. My decision is largely influenced by the conduct of my sales representative as well as my overall in store experience. That said, given the rather lack luster service side of the transaction, accompanied by the clear implication that my business is not valued, and dismissible, I will shop elsewhere. Curious that BB with the assistance of Geek Squad is more eager to step towards retail oblivion than extend even a modest effort to resolve a problem.

Basic set ok but some devices not all added

One guy was nice, the other annoying

Professional & Informative Team

Different techs but very nice, courteous, and professional service. Didn't hurry through any part of the setup and could tell from their demeanor and actions they know how to get the job done right. This gave me a high level of confidence. They are also very personable and was glad of all the tips and techniques they passed on during their service call.

Did the minimum set up i did the rest
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.The service guy set up the tv on my stand but failed to secure to my wall with the existing hardware, failed to level the unit, failed to synch my remotes failed to "walk us through the install and new tv connections". My wife didn't even know where the power button was. I later did all that i was told he would do but still couldn't get the remote to program. Overall this guaranteed replacement if anything was damaged so still glad i got the service.

Service was terrible
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.We recently had set up for a specialist to come and install our new rock speakers and a new receiver in our outdoor bar area. First thing was they told us they would be there between 8-12, they showed at 1, and was a guy that had been his 1st time ever coming out on a job alone, was supposed to be a guy named Kelly and he didn't show up for quite awhile and only stayed for a few minutes. The speakers were horribly set up, wires everywhere, no rhyme or reason to where the wiring was attached when the initial guy said they would hide the wires for us. They didn't even wait for me to show us how to program it. Then when calling back the original guy from our initial visit to see if they can come back out to fix stuff, they never called back. VERY VERY disappointed in the GEEK squad service will never again pay for the service would rather hire someone else for this and my computers. After spending $225 for them to "professionally" come out and install our speakers, I could have done the job they did for free.

They explained everything and made sure it all worked (and I understood how it worked) before they left.

not a pleasant experience

They were not easy to work with to get my TV installed on the day they said they were coming. They did not show up or call at least twice. Once the installer finally showed up, he was the nicest gentleman.
