    Video Editing Made Easy

I can admit that I am not a video editing professional but I do enjoy making videos; from vacation videos to funny YouTube videos. However, almost each time I endure the editing process, I reach the end of my rope when it comes to patience. Fortunately, there’s Adobe Premiere Elements 15. Elements has made editing easier. The Smart Tags feature is spot on when trying to dig through a collection of videos in order to find a scene that had a certain landmark or person(s). Smart Tags locates what you are looking for and saves time. You’ll appreciate that time that you save in using it. The guided instructions are another nice feature that will make basically any newcomer feel like a professional. With so many features to explore with Elements, one could easily get sidetracked without the guided instructions there to help you out. One feature that I was absolutely thrilled to see was the Haze Removal. In short, this feature sharpens the clarity of the scene. This is great when you want and need colors to “pop” in order to convey the feel of said scene. I think we can all relate to making and editing videos and wanting to add music in order to personalize the scene(s) but a lot of the time, the music doesn’t exactly sync with the scene and end up being off balanced. The new drag and drop music edit feature is simple and allows music from your library to be synced properly with the video scene of your choice. I would be amiss if I didn’t mention that Elements does a fantastic job allowing access to photos for slideshow collages. With Elements, you can edit in more ways than I can list here. I can certainly state that the editing process is brilliant and is VERY accessible for newcomers. You’ll wonder you didn’t purchase this sooner. When done right, Elements can make a medium grade video look as if it was filmed on a high-end camera.

Adobe Premiere Elements 15 can make professional styled videos. It will take time for a beginner to learn all of the ins and outs of video production with this software. All others should be able to browse through the tutorials quickly for any small amount of help needed. Once registered on the premiere elements website you have a wealth of tutorials to help gain understanding of new features and topics. My digital television programs in the .ts format are not compatible and must be converted, before I can use them in this software. Some pictures must be optimized to maintain continuity with other pictures of different sizes & pixels. Adding music is easiest when using wav files, but other files might cause difficulty because of licensing agreements and will give error messages. Adobe Premiere Elements 15 has many great features to create beautiful videos. The software makes organizing, video collage creation, haze removal, face detection and the remixing of music files to the length of the video easy to do with a few clicks. There are search tags for quicker findings of similar pictures or videos to combine into one stream. You can import one or multiple files at a time. Project settings are based on first clip on the timeline to give space to work with. You can also edit and enhance your videos with motion titles mixing black/white with colors in the background. There are more commands available that I have not explored, but I can say that Adobe Premiere Elements 15 is the “Rolls Royce” of video software.

Initially out of the box it can be a bit intimidating but the install was easy as it came with the basic DVD install or you can install from downloading straight from the website for touch based devices. It didn't take take long to install but did need more space than expected. The overall interface looks nice and it opens up directly to a guided or tutorial page easy for anyone to understand. I particularly like this because there are times when I just want to create a quick video to share and this allows you to import media fairly easy and guides you thru the rest without much effort. Once you have completed a project you can share directly to a social media outlet of your choosing or just save it to your Hard drive. The automated storylines are pretty good as it makes it easy to drag and drop all your selected media and auto syncs the music and images/video into a quick project. If you are having creative block this helps and you can adjust and edit your timeline as you wish from here. There are so much details that I have yet to discover using this software, but it is definitely worth it to purchase even more so if you use photoshop which integrates with this perfectly.

I'd like to start off by apologizing for not using the appropriate videographer lingo. I never really used adobe software, mainly because there were just too many settings that were confusing to me or I just didn't understand what they did. However, with Adobe Premiere elements 15, I watched a quick youtube video on how to use it and now i'm making my first unboxing video =-). This software makes it really easy to cut and splice multiple video's, add transitions and do voiceovers. Overall I am really liking this software and would definitely recommend it.

The adobe photoshop elements is the consumer version of the adobe phtoshop pro. It provides almost all the features of the pro version with an easy point and click interface and can make you amateur videos look professional! Premiere Elements works with the Organizer, a free companion helper app that assembles and manages all your photos and videos in one interface, giving both the photo and the video app access to all assets. Social networking is now a prominent mode of photographic engagement for families, and with this new version, Adobe is making videos even more attractive and sharable for Facebook, YouTube, and Vimeo with a dynamic collage feature, renewed focus on people and faces, special effects across multiple clips, timing soundtracks to videos, and more. You can buy the DVD but if you dont have the DVD rom you can download it directly from the website and then use the key provided in the DVD case to activate it.

I'm new to creating videos, and I find the software very easy to work with. You can edit videos down, splice different pieces together, put together simple slide-shows or even collages of pictures. All of this is about as simple as dragging and dropping your picture files onto a bar to put them in order. I haven't delved very deeply into the power of the software, as I'm just a beginner. However, there are simple to follow videos and tutorials which walk you through the software, step by step, to make sure you understand what you're doing. I don't just mean the video shows you. I mean you interact with the tutorial overlay on the video you're working with. It walks you through making the edits on the file you want to edit, rather than you trying to remember every click and step. I'd say this is great software if you want to edit your home movies, create simple videos for YouTube, or I'm sure much more.

Installation Installation was relatively quick for what I expected to be a more entry-level product. Unfortunately, on my solid & stable Win 10 64 bit i7 rig, the program hung at the stage of updating the Visual C++ libraries. I was forced to go into the task manager and force terminate the installation and try again. It required 3 attempts to complete the installation without issue. I've also noticed that on a few occasions that the program doesn't close cleanly/properly within the Windows 10 64bit environment. These errors are clearly registered in the Windows Reliability and Problem History and seem to occur if you don't exit the "project" environment in a prescribed manner. I suspect this will be widely reported on by the user base and addressed by Adobe in the coming months. I would characterize Adobe Premiere Elements 15 as a small footprint application. Presentation The program's GUI is fairly simplistic in arrangement and gives three level of options to create/produce your video creations. Quick - Guided - and Expert. The menus and buttons are pretty straight forward and the appearance of the main window is pleasant and easy on the eyes. I do think the tutorial resources are a nice touch and probably the reason this level of product still commands such a high list price. You'll need to determine the return on investment for that facet of the product offering for yourself. I found it to be helpful. Usability I found the entire process to be pretty much straightforward and easy to follow if you use the more guided/automated approach or even when I went into the more advanced methods. Macro type functionality that allows easy button-push cleaning up video files is pretty handy and appreciated, and they worked well. The exporting/finalization functions were stable and fast through the different output formats I tried out. Incidentally, my machine is an Intel i7, 4970K that isn't overclocked, with 16GB of 2400 DDR3 RAM and fast SDD storage. Overall Impressions I think this package is a good alternative for those wishing to capture and produce simple to intermediate creations from their smartphone video files or action cams. It's not what I would call completely intuitive like that which Apple offers up but for the money, Adobe Premiere Elements 15 is a decent choice (when offered at a serious discounted, sale price). I do find the installation issues I encountered a tad bit uncalled for these days, as there isn't much to this program on the front-end - and the Microsoft component management should be smooth in the world of Windows 10 - but at least I was able to brave through the installation without contacting Adobe support for assistance. Overall I would recommend to those seeking this level of software that they try as many free demo versions they can access and make their final choice for a full licensed copy of a video editor by virtue of their own personal preferences and just as importantly - the cost basis. The list price for this software doesn't justify the cost of admission for it's "elemental" approach.

Being a somewhat new photographer/video guy, I wanted something good but not quite professional level as I don't know yet what most of the terms used mean in the higher end programs. I do plan on learning and getting better but Elements is the perfect companion for either just getting started or still at the amateur level. I was quickly able upload, edit, and add some cool effects . Nothing was overwhelming as I could add transitions and splice multiple videos together very easily. I have a lot to learn on this still but it really is motivating me to put some cool stuff together. It's definitely meant for users at my level. Highly recommend this to those that just need something to learn on and your finished products can look spectacular

Currently, I use the free Windows Movie Maker utility which is actually very easy to use and has most features I need. However, I’ve used Adobe Premiere in the past and occasionally miss some of the more advanced features it had. Premiere Elements seems to be a good compromise in both features and price. The software comes on a DVD, but is also available for download if your machine doesn’t have a DVD drive attached. I installed from DVD and had a minor problem with the installation: the two installers that run seemed to conflict, so I had to manually close the first one before the Premiere installer would complete. Once I figured that out, it installed just fine. Once running, there are a number of helpful tutorials and step-by-step guidance available to get you through a video editing project. There are also three editing modes available: Quick, Guided and Expert. Having had some experience with Premiere before, I soon switched to Expert mode and it had a lot of familiar editing features. I’ve not contacted tech support yet, but I was puzzled by one issue I ran into. I had recorded some audio on my phone in Samsung Voice Recorder and attempted to use it with a video. The .m4a file format was available when selecting media to import, however when I selected my file I always got an error saying "the importer reported a generic error.” I was able to play the audio file in Windows just fine, so I’m not sure what the problem is. There are quite a few canned sound effect and ambient music scores available to choose from, but I feel like I’ll quickly tire of using those. One feature this software touted was the ability to auto-mix a music file to make the length match your video clip. In other projects I’ve worked on, this was always the most time-consuming part of the project--making the music come out just right. In practice, this feature didn’t really work very well. It did adjust the audio, but with glitches at the beginning and end that were not acceptable. I may attempt to use it in future projects, but I have a feeling it may not work quite good enough. Other than that, the software has worked fine to produce a couple of short video clips for me. I’m glad I have it in my software toolbox now, and I’d recommend it as a cost-effective option for people looking for something a little more sophisticated for video editing.

First let my ten year of age son use the program, no instructions from me, and in literally no time he was turning out a very cool video with effects, sound, narration, and more. Very cool. Layout of tools is quite intuitive. Have used an advanced video editor for making home videos to share with family and the fact is I would be just as pleased to have used Adobe Premier Elements. Lots of editing tools and VERY well priced. Solid program, easy to use, and it is quite a lot of fun to make videos.

While I am technically savvy, I've had trouble with editing software in the past. This software makes it relatively easier to edit videos and remove the shake that comes with my daughter holding the camera. Adding text or effects to video or video transitions is very easy, but you have more control in the advanced tab. I would recommend this to family and friends interested in organizing their media and creating videos to share with others.

Better options out there for photos

As a stand-alone photo program, photographers can do better than Photoshop Elements, namely Lightroom. Though if you are familiar with Photoshop but don't want to pay the exorbitant price of Photoshop (or need the full suite of tools in the full version), this could work well for you, though I still think that Lightroom is a better option for all photographers. If you already have Premier Elements and just need a good photo editor that seamlessly integrates with that video editor, that would be another place where I could see this program being valuable. Final word on this though would be that if you are even slightly serious about your photography, you owe it to yourself to try out Lightroom first. It was intended for and built by photographers and uses all the same lingo as photographers use so you are always talking the same language and it is a language you should stay in since it will help you do a better job creating, managing, and editing your photography.

So let's just get s couple of things out of the way for a product like this. This is my first piece of video editing software that isn't free like Instagram or something on the Windows 10 App Store. My two rigs are also above average in my opinion at running software like this. I run a hand built PC with a pretty good graphics card and a Core i7 processor. My laptop also has a multimedia card and a Ultrabook Core i7 processor so processing experiences may vary, but I would consider my desktop to be capable of 4K video rendering while my laptop is more of a portable 1080P setup thanks to it only having two physical cores and a relatively lower end graphics card. I really like this software for family projects and the interface is really nice and easy. It will even guide you through various projects if you are like me and you are a beginner, but it will also let you take control if you want to tweak with some finer details on video and create some neat effects. For me CTRL+Z was handy for getting used to this kind of work, and it even has a built in tutorial built in. I do personally recommend some sort of cloud storage for it, but I am a little disappointed that it doesn't have support for directly importing projects right from the cloud, but I suppose that would require storage on the rendering device. Overall I am really happy with this piece of software and I think it is a great starting point for any video editor.

These days, just about every computer you can get will come with a video editing package capable of handling basic cuts, transitions, and filters. If that's all you're looking for, you probably don't need to invest in anything more advanced. But if you're looking to do something a bit more ambitious, but can't justify the high cost of a subscription to get access to the full professional versions of Adobe's products, the Elements version of Premiere is probably what you want to aim for. There are several drag-and drop guided editing modes available which are all pretty much what you'd expect from a standard video editor, just with a little bit of added Adobe flair thrown in for good measure. They're quite serviceable, but honestly that's not really what makes this product stand out. For that, you want to switch to the Expert mode, where you suddenly get access to fine control over various effects, chroma keying, and several other effects. You definitely don't have everything that you might get with a full professional level video package. But if all you're looking to do is make a really impressive video for youTube, a wedding, a fanfilm, or just for fun, this will probably meet your needs.

Downloading the program to my computer felt really archaic in the sense that it took a while to decompress and settle on my desktop. After initial setup was completed it was fairly simple to upload a video and mock up and play with editing. Being a beginner with video editing and trying to understand creating my own mini-movies at home I am glad that Adobe offers Premiere Elements without intimidating features. I like that when I have completed a video that I can export it to a social media site so that my friends or family can access or view treasured videos. If you are on the cusp of mastering basic video skills, I also learned that Adobe offers a tutorial site through Premiere Elements where you can learn to export videos to tablets and devices which is really cool for showing off later! With the holidays coming around I am sure this is going to come in handy quite a bit.

This is the first real video editing software I have ever used and I am by no means anywhere close to an experienced editor. But, that said, Adobe premiere has all the tools anyone could ask for. There is a basic mode and an expert mode that offers a ton of control. I stayed mostly in the basic mode of the tool and even there you have more than enough options to play with. There are many filters that help correct any film flaws or help you give your video a little extra character. Premiere offers video transitions and allows you to chop and splice a video any way you need. My only complaint about the program is that my fairly new core i5 laptop had a hard time running it. Like I said I'm relatively new at this but, it looks like you will need a fairly powerful computer to make full use of this program. So if you have the machine and know what you're doing, this is the tool for you.

Adobe's Premiere Elements 15 is a solid video editing program that most would consider a step up from entry-level consumer offerings. It has a number of new add-ons aimed at automatically creating quick movies from your existing files. I had mixed results with those, but that's normal (in my experience) with auto-created media. If you pick and order your clips carefully before using them you may get decent results. However, this program is great for diving in and building your own movies using the many powerful tools. If you're used to the Adobe UI, you'll find this a great deal and familiar. If not, it may take some time to get up-to-speed with it's approach. I used the Mac version and found the UI counter intuitive to what I'm used to. All-in-all I would still recommend this program - especially for those looking for a less expensive version of Adobe video power.

It took less than 15 minutes to install Adobe Premiere Elements 15 on a 5K iMac (the package also includes the PC version for the Windows crowd). I used the included DVD inserted into an attached DVD player. I could have installed it over the internet as they provide that capability for those who do not have a DVD player. I was looking for a small (in disk storage size) video editing solution to ultimately install on a laptop computer. Adobe Premiere Elements 15 works well with stills, video clips and audio, sporting a completely new user interface. In other words, this is a totally new piece of software. The only time tools appear are when you are actually using them keeping the work space uncluttered. eLive, Quick, Guided or Expert are different modes of editing providing automatic and semi-automatic features as well as guided modules to match your abilities. You determine the amount of control you want to use. Video collages, audio remix and the new interface are probably the three most welcome changes / additions to the program. The collage capability allows you to create a video based on a collection of images while the audio remix does a stellar job of tailoring an audio clip to the length of a video clip. Although finished clips can be further edited in Adobe’s Pro applications, Adobe Premiere Elements 15 did not have good compatibility with Adobe’s Pro software as of the time I installed it on my system. For optimum compatibility you should consider Adobe Photoshop Express 15 for your companion still editor.
