Love these for use for phone calls. Can still hear what is going on, but the call is loud and clear. Microphones seem good, everyone asks says they sound fine. Wouldn't be my first choice for serious music listening, the sound isn't as good as my Bose over the ear headphones, but for background music while working they are also great, since you can still hear what is going on around. I'm not a runner, but I can see the benefit of these for keeping aware of your surroundings.
