Consider upgrade to Aeropex if you sweat

After 2 yrs, my first pair cracked near the ear and would not stay on my head. After a couple years of hard usage, my second pair stops working as soon as i start to sweat. I am upgrading to Aeropex (supposed to be waterproof) this time and fingers crossed.

It seems more of a novelty than for actual safety. Another thing to consider is that it can still cause loss of hearing. It won't damage your eardrum but will damage the little hairs that actually detect sounds. So don't listen with the volume too loud.
