This anime changed my life. I was never a huge anime person until I saw this and it blew me away. I since have been reading the original manga books and diving deep into the world of Akira. Being that I also love steelbooks, this is hands down the absolute nicest steelbook I have ever seen. A bit pricy I just say but, so incredibly worth it. Absolutely love it and several weeks later, I'm still looking at it with joy.

Akira is a classic anime that never gets old. It looks stunning on Blu-ray with an HD 4K TV. I grew up with this movie along side the original Ghost in a Shell, Ninja Scroll, Demon City Shinjuku and Fist of the North Star. Akira stands out among them in dealing with psionic powers. Really wish they'd do a live action. Definitely should add this to your movie collection for the anime connoisseur!

One of the greatest Anime films of all time! What a great transfer! Everything pops with HDR. This was released after the disasturous early limited edition release where hdr was broken. Glad I waited for this version which has since been fixed.

The dvd has great extra's. definitely worth buying and watching this movie if you enjoy cartoons or anime, you'll love this. If you watch it more then once you really start to see why it's such a great movie.one of the great anime everyone should have in their physical media collection. a unique movie. a must see. go buy it!

Great blu ray collection of Akira for a great price - contains original 1988 subtitled version, the original 1988 English dubbed version (the one I grew up with and prefer), and the 2001 re-dubbed English version (that one is ok, but I like the original voices from the 1988 version best) - this was basically the anime that broke that genre into the mainstream - still holds up - recommended

Akira has been brought to 4K in stunning fashion. From the packaging of this cinematic gem, with its beautiful and classic cover art, to the piece itself, with impressively improved audio and visual, if you can locate this elusive, three legged unicorn of a beast, be sure to bring it home.

This set in nothing short of incredible If you can get your hands on it, get it! I've owned every edition that's come out and they just seem to get better. This may be the definitive version. I don't know how they can top this. They've outdone themselves on this entire presentation.

What can I say that hasn’t been said about Akira! It marked the birth of an era of anime on an epic scale! This release of Akira is, in itself, an achievement to bring this classic to aficionados as well as to a new generation of fans. It has action, excitement, and a grandiose story with stunning visuals!

Finally the original 1988 Dub version of Akira is available on the 25 year anniversary Blu-Ray edition ; it was painful to hear the new remastered Dub of Akira that came out a few years back now

Great classic anime. This is one of the movies that brought it to the masses. If you are unfamiliar with this title and enjoy the art form you need to watch it. The only thing that would make it better is the steel book.

As the first disc I tested on my new TV, this presentation of one of the most influential anime films in existence blew me away! The colors popped and the detail is immaculate! A must-have for any anime fan!

The film is visually great, but the movie is based on a very extended manga and as a result has a lot of skips that lead to some strange pacing. It still stands on its own incredibly well, but may lead you to a google search to fill in some of the gaps (and make some of the scenes more clear/impactful)

This edition is a great transfer of a classic anime film. The Dolby true HD 5.1 surround sound is great. The last time I heard the audio from this movie it was on a VHS so this was a huge difference. I was not expecting much as far as a huge improvement in video quality, considering the age of the film. I was pleasantly surprised that the 1080 P resolution looks great on my plasma screen TV.

This anime is one that never ages. I was quite late into the game when I saw this in 2007, but it blew me away! It's in a class of its own right up there with Ghost in the Shell. I've owned this in several other formats, even blu ray, but when I saw this Collector's case with the embossed bike and character on the cover, I had to buy it again.

The pinnacle of Japanimation. This version in 4K-(although not in HDR10+-contact Funimation for the replacement HDR10 replacement disc) is still marvelous and the colors bloom off the screen. Great special features on the film too! Truly a classic of the genre!

This movie is an anime classic. The 4k restoration is amazing and it looks even more sharp than the standard dvd or blu ray. Grab a copy, because you're in for a treat.

What else can be said that hasn't already about this film? Therefore, I will just mention that this is a wonderful addition to anyone's Blu-ray library. A must have in my opinion. Amazing picture quality and sound. Extra's are pretty decent as well.

I honestly haven't seen it yet on 4k. But, I seen Akira way back in the early 90's on VHS. And I was instantly hooked. So watching this in 4k I'm sure I will be pleased.

Excellent remaster of a absolute classic. Fair warning however, the initial release 4k disc does NOT have the HDR version. Funimation, the distributor, but out a notice and they have a simple process by which they will send you the HDR version for free.

This is a classic movie a beautiful story about a psychotic break down, a unfortunate biker, and the destruction of Neo Tokyo, this cyberpunk adventure takes place in the post-apocalyptic city of Neo-Tokyo. A teen-age boy is exposed to a mysterious energy source and develops telekinetic powers that place him at the center of a conflict that may destroy the world.
