This is a classic. If you already have a blu-ray copy, only buy this if you want the UHD, the blu-ray is from a previous release.

What can be said that hasn't been said already. I've first seen this as a teenager back in 87 when movies like this were rare and it still lives up to the best that anime has today and even better then some Hollywood movies. If you're new to anime and want to experience the golden age of it you can't go wrong with this film.

A phenomenal release for a phenomenal film! Akira is not only an anime classic, but also a film classic and it hasn't looked better. A solid feature list also make this a must buy. The Metal-Casing makes all the more special and one of the best Blu's in my collection. Highly Recommended.

This is the 25th anniversary of Akira and it does not disappoint. The graphics were great, while the story looks in to a future way of thinking. Groundbreaking story! It comes with two selections on English tracks, as well as Japanese track. Special features loaded with interesting information.

This is a masterful adaption of the manga, but it’s too condensed and misses most of the minutia that can leave the audience wondering what was missed. Even still the animation is beautifully drawn and captivating and the level of detail.

Beautiful movie. Beautiful poppy colors. Still don't entirely know what in the world I saw. Just a triply beautiful form of animation especially for its time. Need to watch it maybe one or 2 more times to see if I could understand it. Even if I don't I will still love it either way.

I already owned this movie on Blu-ray but bought it again because this newer edition has the original English dub on it. I was used to the original English dub with the original voices and the original lines. I couldn't get into the new one because I was too used to the original after seeing that dozens of times.

I had not seen this film before, so I was eager to purchase it and check it out! I am very happy with the results. The Blu-ray transfer and pricing are phenomenal. and the film itself is amazing and breathtaking! Check it out if you get the chance! Regards, Jake

Like alot of others I saw this years ago and became a fan. For the longest time I called this my favorite anime movie of all time, but never owned a copy on blu ray. One day I stopped by Best Buy they had a good deal on it and I had to get it. Thank you Best Buy

One of the best-known examples of contemporary Japanese animation, this cyberpunk adventure takes place in the post-apocalyptic city of Neo-Tokyo. A teen-age boy is exposed to a mysterious energy source and develops telekinetic powers that place him at the center of a conflict that may destroy the world.

After Ghost in the Shell got 4K, I was not expecting another anime to become 4K as well. This 4K limited edition is a great celebration of this movie. They need to make a 4K Steelbook for Ninja Scroll as well.

Akira is nothing short of a classic and it only looks better in 4K. An absolute must have if you are a fan of classic anime and animation in general

If you haven't already heard of this Post-War Tokyo anime epic, it is a standard bearer for most anime / sci-fi action movies that would follow. Great to see they've added the original audio as well as the updated one.

This is truly one of best animated movies of all time. Great action and drama. This movie is a non-stop thrill ride from start to finish. If you are a fan of animated movies then you need to get this movie.

This blu ray of Akira is perfect for fans and new comers alike. Even if you dont like animes, i suggest you see this film. Its considered groundbreaking for the genre and after a view, you will know why. Picture quaility is great and the sound quality is demo material. Plenty of extras as well. Must buy!

Can easily see how many might not like it. Fans of anime who’ve never seen this will be pleased but those who have never watched any anime might be left confused. Overall entertaining and recommend if open minded about anime.

Akira was one of the first Anime science fiction flicks to receive internation screenings, and international acclaim for the storytelling medium. So many movies owe there existance to this movie, both live action and anime, that it is a must see for any Sci-fi Action Fan.

Akira was an interesting movie about a dystopian future and a biker gang. The leader of the biker gangs member gets taken and things go on from there. Sort of funny how there are some similarities to the dystopia to how things currently are now. Check it out.

This film is groundbreaking in every sense of the word. On par with Ghost in the Shell for story depth, action, and animation. A classic film that will continue to hold up for many years. This steelbook is simple yet with the texture, worth being in every collection.

If you bought this around the time it came out, you need to request a disc replacement for the UHD disc. Contact FUNimation and send them an e-mail with proof of purchase and a picture of the disc, also attach your address. They will send you in a few weeks.
