This DVD set is a great addition to any collection and as crazy as it sounds the artist had enough foresight and mentions technologies in the anime that have only become common in the last couple years for motor sports technologies

Akira is an anime classic that helped inspire numerous genre breaking movies - including The Matrix. Highly recommended not only b/c of the packaging, but also just the movie itself is a must watch of any action/sci-fi fan.

Huge upgrade compared to the previous release on bluray. Crisper clearer deeper image quality. Sound is way better too. Highly recommend!

I remember watching this whenever I could as a kid and it’s no less amazing now on blu-ray than it was back then in SD. As it’s been updated it takes me back to when I was a kid sneaking up late to watch this on cable.

So this movie still holds up! However if you bought this version. Be aware the HDR does not exist on this disk. Had to send my receipt to funimation to get the HDR disk replacement. Was able to watch the movie. Colors were pretty solid and the 4k looked really good. This is a anime staple. A must watch if you love anime

Picking up Akira in 4K UHD was a great spur of the moment decision and loved seeing it in this format

Excellent artwork and cinematography. We didn’t end up finishing the movie but so far great. Would recommend it to people who appreciate fine detail in animation.

Just like i remember. Says hdr but looks sane as i remember it from when had it on vhs so no idea but looks and plays good.

Bought this at a risk, never seen it before, but was read this is what started Anime up in the West. I am a huge anime fan, and for it's age, it was a really good movie.

Amazing new transfer of the incredible Japanese anime adapted from the seminal manga series by Katsuhiro Ôtomo. Back from a time long ago when cel animation was still done by hand, the artistry on display here is simply breathtaking.

Anime doesn/t look like this anymore, anime didn't even look like this at the time! Exceptional example the medium. There is gore, keep the little ones away. But wow everyone should see this at least once.

4K Ultra HD Blu-ray Disc. Sad to see Best Buy’s Physical Media sections dying out!!!!

This movie is an Anime classic. And remastered in 4k if you have a home theater system this movie will come back to the front of your mind like never before.

This is the version of Akira to get. I've owned multiple versions on DVD and Blu-Ray. This has most of the special features from the double-DVD version, and the best picture and sound quality of any release.

This is as close to a definitive edition as you can get. The only thing that the extras is missing is the "production report" video. They used some footage from that documentary, but that's pretty much it. The only reason i wouldn't give this a perfect score is because of the extras. Kind of a missed opportunity. The main selling point for me was that they finally released the sought after 1988 english dub.

Bought this copy for my brother because he's asked about it. Although it does not sound as good as the limited edition that was released a little while ago it still has great quality for any fan of the movie. The special features are better then the previous release so that is definitely a plus for anyone looking for more content. This film was way ahead of it time and is deff worth a watch for anyone interested.

Akira for me harkens back to best time in anime. It is truly one of the all time greatest films. And this blu ray edition has the original English audio as well as tons of great special features. A must buy

Akira was a groundbreaking movie when it premiered and is one of my favorites. A gorgeously animated classic that stands the test of time in blu ray. If you are into anime or are curious, there is no better movie to see.

I find that this cutting edge type of animation holds up better against anything CGI can produce in today's time. A must have in any anime lover catalog collection.

Classic and groundbreaking film when it came out. Aged well. Read the manga also to get the experience. The visuals push you to the limits.
