Everyone already knows how fantastic the movie is.

Wow this 40 year old movie looks good in 4K. The did a very good job of transferring. Still just a little grain but this looks way better the the DVD and the Bluray.

I'm not usually one of those people that repurchases the same movie every time the studio repackages it in new box and throws in only an extra feature or two; however, this was such a great deal I couldn't pass it up! I already owned the very nice Alien Quadrilogy set, but this edition of the first film was an sale for $2.99! Included was a blu-ray and digital copy, the latter of which would have been $14.99 on a streaming service! And if that wasn't enough, the package artwork is gorgeous. Admittedly the box itself is a bit on the flimsy side, but this is probably the best deal I've ever gotten for a blu-ray of this caliber. Thanks Best Buy!

Everything about this film is classic. The sets. The style. The alien. This film set the standard in so many aspects. I personally love Ridley Scott's approach to the film. Controlled. Tension filled. Waiting for the right moment. Poised for attack. This film is lead with such expertise. It can still stand up to the sci-fi films of today. I wrote an additional review for Aliens, and I'll say the same thing in this one as well, just stick with these originals and avoid any of the films after Resurrection. Do yourself a favor and check this film out. Due to its age, it can be purchased almost anywhere for a great price. Then realize that this film was made in the 70's. Yes, the 70's! But that didn't stop them from creating excellent special effects, makeup, costumes, and sets. A film that was so ahead of its time. Simply put, a classic.

This is a classic movie in every sense of the word. It started a whole franchise and was a well deserved 4K upgrade. The steelbook however. is very boring.

Good movie! As far as looks: with HDR and upscale to 4K, the picture looks great! As far as sound: The DTS surround sound in this movie is amazing!

Hands down, this is the best Alien has ever looked. I have had all editions since it first came out, hoping against hope that it would look good someday. Well here it is. I also replayed my blu ray after just to check it out. I am so glad I bought the 4K Only thing about the 4K, the image is so good that when the head comes off and is on the floor, you can really see how fake it is but thats the only thing negative I will say about this movie. Buy it you will be glad you did. Viewed with a Panasonic 9000 on a Sony OLED A9G

Although it lacks an Atmos soundtrack, the improvement in PQ (both detail and HDR) makes this a worthwhile upgrade for this sci-fi classic.

A must have for any space horror film fan! This film is beautiful in this version and gives you two versions to choose from - theatrical or directors cut. You can never go wrong with the theatrical but prepare to see additional scenes you never expected on the director's cut. I saw this film in '79 so it was a great surprise to see some additional scenes added. Buy this for no other reason at how beautiful this film cleans up darker scenes and how crisp the detail and watching this movie looks. You can't go wrong here!

I bought this movie on sale it was originally $7.99 and the sale was 2 for $10. It was a good classic film that was on my movie bucket watch list.

This is a great conversion of the original Alien movie. Although most of it is dark, the HDR shines during scenes and makes bits of color pop.

I'm assuming at this point if you're interested in this movie you've probably seen it considering it's 40 years old. I've bought it about 40 times throughout the years and this is hands down the best way to watch the movie in my opinion. The 4K has it looking as good as it's ever looked and the eerie nature of the movie is enhanced by the darker blacks and better overall soundtrack. Pick it up if you're a fan and looking for the best experience possible.

Like the use of tanks instead of cartriges. Only negative is it isn't very user friendly if you want to scan and save from your pc.

I was a bit skeptical about purchasing older films with 4k remasters but decided to take the plunge with this one when it was on sale. Needless to say I'm glad I decided to. The film looks as if it was almost shot today instead of 40 or so years ago. It's incredible. The movie still holds the grit and darkness of the original, but with such better clarity. Especially towards the end of the film when the shots get darker as the alien approaches on the crew. Very glad I decided to upgrade to the 4k version of this. One of my favorite films just got better.

I got this movie more for a visual demonstration of my new TV, but it’s consistent with the series in plot and dramatization.

This review is for the steelbook itself. I love the color scheme. Mostly black and bright green. Worth it if you can find it.

I have seen this movie so many time I just had to get this when it came out on 4K love the picture and sound beautiful...

I remember seeing this movie for the first time at the TV after seeing the sequel Aliens, and I was amazed how intense & creepy they made the movie appear with the effects & visuals used in 1979. I never screamed or was scared senseless by this movie but when I saw the Alien stalking beautiful Ripley down the strobe-light & steam filled corridors, I liked it. I pretend Alien 3 & Alien 4 never exist because those movies disappointed me alot(They Sucked!). I saw Alien: Covenant for FREE because I bought this Blu-Ray with a Movie Certificate! That was awesome! We need more Alien Movies!!!! Bring on the crazy Alien madness!!! Yeah!

Fantastic! Who would've thought a film made in 1979 could be upgraded to 4K! The picture, color, and sound is magnificent! If you've never seen this movie, you owe it to yourself to see it. Basically, it's a "truckers in space" movie. The atmosphere alone will give you the creeps, not to mention the "arrival" of the titled "alien." I don't want to spoil it. I saw this movie as a fan and held on while other movie-goers ran for the exits! This belongs somewhere in everyone's Top 100 movies of all time list.
