Good upgrade but not mind blowing. The blu ray was already pretty good the picture quality is not super noticeably different.

Great Release for an Underrated Movie

Beautiful visuals, great sound, and lots of special features. Love that there's a directory commentary with Ridley Scott (haven't listened to it yet but I'm looking forward to doing so) and deleted scenes. This a beautiful movie that deserves to be viewed in the highest def you can. This steelbook edition is very pretty and definitely my favorite packaging for this release. The movie itself I think is underrated, with thoughtful themes being meaningfully explored and cleaning up some of the messing thematic issues of Prometheus while still leaving room for more exploration in the next film.

Not so impressed with the transfer of the movie video wise, the audio was somehow good that could compensate its weakness.

Ridley Scott and H.R.Giger practically defined the Sci-fi Horror genre.I'm too young to have truly enjoyed experiencing ALIEN back in the late 70's for the first time. I was born in 1981 and by the time i was old enough to appreciate it,we already had so many great science fiction stories/movies. This is another great addition in the ALIEN saga and as a big fan i loved it. Of course some may not have liked it,or it could have been better, but it is exactly what it is. In Retrospect its a Ridley Scott ALIEN film finished and final and as a fan its perfect too me because it is.

Not as good as Prometheus. Its worth watching but lower your expectations. 1st half is great, 2nd half...not so much.

This movie is a disappointment. There are some good things, but it leaves you with more questions than answers.

For the collection it's worth it, for anything more or not in Steelbook 4k form I wouldn't spend the $15.

A Great Package for an OK Film

I didn't love Alien: Covenant by any stretch, but I'm a hopeless collector who usually likes to pick up the big blockbusters on blu-ray, especially if they come with fancy exclusive packaging. And Steelbooks are some of my favorite cases, with unique imagery and sleek design (and this is no exception). As for the film itself, although I liked it a bit more on a rewatch, I think Ridley Scott is misguided (and frankly, a bit arrogant) in his attempts to explore ideas of Creation through the Alien franchise. He's convoluted the Alien story beyond recognition, removed the mystery of the Xenomorph, and he's basically spit in the face of years of fandom and canon. He could've easily started a new sci-fi franchise instead (and nearly did with Prometheus, with its tangential connection to Alien). However, Covenant, despite having head-scratching moments and idiotic characters we care nothing about, still manages to offer some thrills and gorgeous visuals. Will I be rewatching it often? No. Did I enjoy the commentary, getting inside Scott's head? Somewhat, yes. And I'm happy to include it in my complete Alien collection, as splintered as that franchise may be.

The awakened crew are shaken, demoralized and still far from their destination, so when they hear a distress signal coming from a nearby planet that seems habitable, they decide to take a leap of faith and head there rather than go back into hypersleep and risk death again

What you would expect from an Alien movie

If you're watching an Alien film, you know what to expect. That being said, I think this movie starts to bring the gap between Prometheus and the original Alien. Still, I wish 1) the movie would have been called Prometheus II, or just "Covenant" to be consistent and 2) that it would have answered more questions. I guess that will happen in subsequent films. Good movie overall.

best edition to the alien franchise

'Alien: Covenant' might just be the second best film in this franchise. Ridley Scott does a wonderful job of building a bridge between 'Prometheus' and 'Alien'. While the two androids David and Walter are definitely scene-stealers, the human characters are also for the most part much more interesting than in the previous film (especially Katherine Waterston as Daniels, Danny McBride as Tennessee, and Billy Crudup as Oram). While I love 'Aliens' too, I'm glad we're getting to see Scott's full vision for the Alien franchise.

A difficult film to watch, in a good way. If you don't mind being uncomfortable for a lot of the film, there's a lot to admire in here. It unfortunately goes off the rails in the last major sequence but redeems itself with a diabolical ending. A flawed film. The film has an odd visual aesthetic which the UHD presents well.

I always loved having a complete collection of all the Alien and Predator movies, so when I had found out that my collection was missing these newer movies I HAD to have them. Best Buy was the place that had them cheapest and free shipping what a great deal! They arrived just in time to for my birthday too. With COVID taking away all the fun stuff it was nice to have something arrive in the mail for my birthday at least. <3

'Covenant', the newest Alien addition from Ridley Scott, is a well made horror-thriller. It is good that Scott is at the helm for these Alien films because his vision stays throughout and gets the series back onto the track that he would have originally liked and keeps focus on the Aliens instead of a single character, (Ripley). Can't wait to see where he takes the next film.

    Immersion, Connection

I'm a devoted fan of the Alien/Predator/Prometheus movies. This movie was one of the best (though it is hard to choose a "best"). The story line connects to threads in other movies, which gives the movie depth and really pulls you into this world. The wider context makes you feel immersed in this Alien world. This movie exposes more human (. . . etc.) connections than the other movies, takes off in new directions, and shows us a new Alien, beyond the Alien we all know and are revolted by. I loved this movie.
