Never Throttles gpu and cpu using just battery
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.yup, ive gone through plenty of gaming laptops, and this one is a winner. Its the only laptop that does not drop/throttle while just on battery. The design is clean, robust and strong like a pitbull. the 1060 is perfect for gaming on the go. the battery life is super surprisingly great for a 60wh battery for general use like web browsing Netflix or YouTube gets about 6.5 solid hours of use, I could only imagine it with the 90wh battery option. The port selection is fantastic, the display is great. ohh i forgot to mention the cooling on this laptop is the best, ive had the razer 15, msi gs65 stealth and asus zephyrs. None of them come close to cooling. yes yes i know the bezels, not as attractive as the others, but this laptop is total utilitarian and is built to last. A++++. also bestbuy team at Hialeah is always knowledgeable and professional at all times, only place to go to shop and experience products and product knowledge.

Great gaming/work laptop with a few minor issues
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I've been an Alienware owner for several years and just recently purchased this m15 to replace my 8 year old Alienware 13. PROS: This machine has a ton of power and runs pretty much whatever I throw at it. The keyboard feels awesome and the lighting is great for low-light settings. Even though the screen is your standard 60hz fare, it looks great in comparison to the older Alienware models. It's a matte screen but it's a bit glossier than my Alienware 13 was, so it doesn't have that cheap toy look. Also, the bezels are smaller (although the newer m15 has even smaller bezels similar to the Dell XPS). The touchpad, while not glass, is much nicer and bigger than the pads on any other laptop I checked out in this price range. Bonus Pro: If you've ever owned an Alienware laptop then you know about their tremendous power bricks coupled with ridiculously short cables. My Alienware 13 literally had a 3 foot cable and I could barely use it plugged in unless I was right next to the wall. With this model, the brick is still obnoxious but the cable that connects to the brick is like 10 feet long. It's SO much more convenient than the older machines if you need to plug it in. CONS: The machine does get quite hot under a heavy load. If I play Overwatch for more than a half hour the computer is quite warm to the touch. I haven't experienced any real throttling yet as I don't really push the system with the latest games, but the heat is noticeable and I would assume that next-gen games would push it to that throttle point. Also, Alienware's update system is really terrible. I keep trying to update the drivers in the computer and the updates fail, so I end up doing it manually. Dell's update software is also on this machine and I think the two are conflicting- causing me not to be able to use either. Lastly, the 128GB SSD is tiny and it would be nice if maybe a 256GB came standard as there's isn't much room for anything on the main drive. All in all, I'd recommend this machine if you're doing current-title gaming on medium to high settings, photoshop, audio production, video editing with external drives, or just using it for general work. Be warned that this machine is one of Alienware's budget models, so if you're chasing the highest framerates I would suggest getting something with a beefier graphics card.

Very Fast but a little noisey
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I had a MSI gaming Laptop and was skepitcal about not buying another one, but this Alienware Laptop made me forget all about my MSI. The Screen Resolution is great, it is fast, but can get a little noisey (fan motor). I went from 17" to 15" and miss the bigger size, but don't miss when traveling around with it. This model is 2" screen size smaller but it is less bulky then my last lapton. Good Job Alienware!!

Excellent for the price I got it at!
||Posted . Owned for 3 weeks when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I got this on clearance before it sold out, and the 8th gen i7 is still an amazing CPU, so I saw no reason to spend tons more just to get a 9th gen. In saying that, this did have some teething pains out of the box with “OOBE” errors during setup (OOBE means out of box experience, to anyone wondering) and it refused to let me log in to my Microsoft account or even connect to my WiFi to perform system updates. If anyone else happens upon this issue, it’s simple to fix. The issue lies with the Killer network control app that ships with this, and if you either stop the service in Task Manager or uninstall the Killer app, it will then work as intended. Make sure you also install updates using Dell Support Assist as that will provide BIOS updates which are also necessary. Once you do all of that, boom. You should be gold!

Buyers Remorse.
||Posted . Owned for 1 year when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Exactly 1.5 years later and had to replace yesterday. Issues with overheating and decreased performance and instability even after undervolting to preserve. Newer drivers were not compatible and even the AW command center would freeze and refuse to update. GPU issues and daily BSOD plague this machine. Was not worth the 1.6k paid. Performance was decent ( minus the literal finger burning, overheated chassis ) for the first year and then it was a steady decline from there. If you purchase, get the insurance and immediately repaste - but honestly- just get a better model or machine, and save yourself the issues with sending it back to dell.

Good build but software issues
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. Was looking for another gaming laptop and have an older model Alienware. Never had issues with the old one and this one continually gave me the blue screen error "oops something went wrong" every 10 minutes or so. Returned the laptop disappointed with the software issue.

i have mix feelings about this. :(
||Posted . Owned for 1 month when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I bought this product thinking it will help my gaming progress but it seem to slow me down, having one screen intend of two like when i played on PC really just makes it frustrating. But will say that it is a good product.

This is not a gamer laptop
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I’m my experience This computer overheated and made an annoying noise. It could be used to heat my apartment in the winter. Nice look and good for light tasks .if you need a 15” gaming laptop I would recommend the Alienware 15R4. It’s heavier but it can handle the heat.

Posted .Ledneo,
We're sorry to hear that your computer has been making noises and is overheating. We'd recommend using the Alienware Control Center to maintain a comfortable temperature on your computer:
• To tune your system, go to Alienware Command Center and select out of 4 different thermal profiles that will help you manage system temperatures as well as performance output to your preference. These include Cool, Quiet, Balanced, and Performance thermal profiles.
• Our Alienware also m15 follows 8th and 9th generation Intel performance design guidelines, which can lead CPU temperatures to reach 100°C to output top in-game performance.
• We fully warrant the product under these conditions. If you see CPU temperatures rising beyond 100°C on Alienware Command Center, please contact support and they will take care of your issue - https://dell.to/2Inbc8F.
