When I purchased this computer it was advertised it had an SSD but upon further look later on it did not have one, only about 3 years after this computer began to also give me issues.

Alienware, Aurora R6 Desktop is an adequate multiple function computer. Streamlined; doesn't take up much space and light enough to move about easily. A good computer for a beginner gamer.

    Aurora is Alienware's rockstar!

The latest gen Aurora R6 (and R7, if you want to spend a bit more) are the shining stars of the Alienware lineup. They are the systems meant to prove you can, indeed, have a nice balance between pre-built quality and DIY value... And, in some ways, a much better value, at that. This particular R6 (has 7692 in the model) is a great mid-high end system priced at that sweet spot, a few hundred below $2k (even cheaper, on sale). The case design and its fit and finish are superb and like anything you can expect from Alienware. The inside is a marvel in case design, albeit a bit cramped, but easy to work on and upgrade (if you want to add drives, a second GPU, etc...) This is not to say this is a perfect system... There are a few noteworthy mentions. The particular R6's sold by Best Buy all seem to have been spec'd out with the 460W PSU option and, although this specific model includes the liquid cooling option, I don't believe the GTX 1080 would fare well with a twin sibling pulling power from the 460w unit. I really think a machine of this caliber should always include a PSU option that can easily accommodate a second GPU of the same series, and NVIDIA themselves recommends a minimum of 500W for a single 1080. If you build your own through the Dell website, depending on the starting configuration you choose, it will give you an option to upgrade to the 850W PSU. Highly recommended if you plan on running an SLI setup in the future. However, the way Alienware has been able to safely accommodate what would seem like an under-powered PSU in such a setup is by providing a unit that supplies ample power to the 12V rail. You will be completely OK with this if you intend on keeping a single GPU in there. The second thing I'd like to mention may or may not be important to most, but, this board is based on the z270 chipset. It does not support 8th generation Intel Core processors. The i7-7700 is a great CPU, and it won't be much, if any bottleneck to the current generation GPUs, but it is something to consider if you plan on eventually stepping up to an i7-8700 or K series. The R7, which you can buy directly from Dell, is based on the z370 chipset and comes with 8th gen Core processors already. Finally, and this is probably most important to those finally considering a pre-built system and are used to building their own, as much expandability as it is offered with these systems you must remember these are highly proprietary case designs and a future platform upgrade (motherboard, CPU) will mean ditching the whole system, case and all, in the name of progress. If this is going to be your rig for the next 5 years, that may not be an issue, but if you like to upgrade the internals often, you may reach a point, sooner than later, where you will need to "step out" of your R6 as a whole in order to get the latest and greatest. The above are pondering points more than drawbacks. The system is priced aggressively and it retains all of the aspects, both in quality and design, that make it worthy of the Alienware badge. It does not try to be anything more, nor anything less. It knows where it stands and it does it well. If you are in the market for a late-7th gen Intel Core gaming rig with an excellent GPU and simple, yet elegant looks to boot, the Aurora R6 will not disappoint.

    Best Deal For The Money

Never did I think I would really buy an Alienware! (We all know the Memes) Surprisingly this PC was priced better than any other manufacture I could find (With the sale price) with a GTX 1080 and i7 7th gen, let alone liquid cooled. I thought the information was wrong in the description regarding liquid cooling because I thought Alienware only put that on the 'K' processors but nope Liquid cooled! Running all my games on Ultra and the tower is extremely quiet. I keep checking the cpu and gpu temps and ice cold! Highly recommended, really happy that best buy matched the sale price I found elsewhere. Overall 10/10, couldnt have built a better computer for the money.

Dear Oscar, Thanks for your review and we're so sorry to hear that your new computer is freezing up and crashing on you. Here are some tips to help with the freezing concerns:
      1. Run a Computer Diagnostic. To determine if your computer is experiencing a hardware problem, run the Dell Preboot System Assessment (PSA) Diagnostics. For information on how to run Diagnostics, and to determine the issue, refer to Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2iaiujA.
      2. Check Safe Mode for Symptoms. To boot into safe mode, please follow the instructions below:
      1) Start the computer.
      2) Tap 'F8' on the keyboard immediately and every one second until the Dell logo screen disappears. From there you will see the Windows Advanced Options Menu on the screen. (If the Windows Advanced Options Menu does not appear, restart the system and try again.)
      3) Select Safe mode with Networking and press Enter.
      4) Log on as the administrator or as a user with administrative access.
      5) Open applications and test the computer in safe mode. If the symptoms exist in safe mode, please continue the troubleshooting steps in this article. If the symptoms do not exist in safe mode, the issue is likely related to a driver or software and you may wish to complete steps 6 and 7 to see if you are able to resolve the lock ups or freezing.
      3. Check for Malware. Malware (Virus, Spyware, etc.) can definitely cause a Windows system to lock up or appear to hang. To check for malware on your system and to ensure that your computer is up to date on security software, visit Dell Knowledge Base Article: http://dell.to/2wWP1zI.
We hope these tips help you. For the full article you can view it here - http://dell.to/2tW5m33. - Bryan Dell

    Awesome gaming PC!

This PC works great. Would have given five stars but had to drop to four stars due to my experience. Do yourself a favor and buy the geek squad protection plan. Bought the first unit, worked great for four days, then it prompted me to due a BIOS update, which I did. After that it kept going to black screen, lagging, not responding, etc. Useless. I was not dealing with that for such an expensive machine. Took it back to Best Buy and the Geek squad looked at it and said they could test it and find out the problem and more than likely have to send back for repair at a time frame of 2 - 3 weeks. I said nope, and because I was still in my 45 day returns, retuned it for a brand new one. Got it set up and did NOT update the BIOS and is working fine for 3 weeks now, plus I bought the two year warranty through Best Buy. Loving this PC! Can play PUBG and Overwatch on ultra graphics with no problems at all.

    Computer "elegance"

For years I have successfully built my own computers... Crunching the numbers, I found that I could not build this quality of computer, for Best Buy's price on this one. The R6 is elegant by design, whisper quiet, and blazing fast! I run flight simulator games that were good before, but now perform with greatly improved realism, and smoothness. I am very glad I made this purchase.

Had to take into store after receiving to make operable and then had to get online help from a dell service contractor. Without knowing higher levels of program changes this animal keeps locking up. The only way to stop was to activate a screen saver that at least keeps it running (somewhat). Still have to press start button to wake it up if setting for a long time. Too costly for what you get. Have had computers that cost 25% of this one that gave me 4x as much satisfaction. Note: Be prepared to buy external speakers to get any sound output.
