Was going to build a rig. I do photo processing and video editing. I priced it and got this on sale. Great pc. Quiet. Easy to access inside for adding memory or drives. Replaced the optane memory with a samsung evo ssd. The system is very fast. I do not play games so I can't comment on gaming performance.

I'd moved away from pc gaming in favor of consoles for years. I'm so glad to be back on pc! I'd forgotten how much more versatile a pc is, and this alienware system is just out of control. Coupled with 4k display, I literally could not ask for any more from a system. I'm beyond satisfied with this purchase.

Replaced my Asus i7 desktop from 2010 with this system. Easy setup and startup. Ran several games on it and it was very fast. I find the fan coolant system very quite. This system supports Oculus which I plan to add this fall. System is new so cannot comment of longevity but currently very happy.

I researched heavily for the perfect computer for my son. He's a Headmaster's list student and loves gaming. This computer over exceeded my expectations. It's simple to set up, super fast, handles gaming and videos are sharp. School work is a breeze. Only wish I purchased one for myself too!

Bought this for my kids for Xmas. They love it. Boots up extremely quickly and runs well with all games we’ve thrown at it. I looked into building my own gaming desktop but for the price, couldn’t go wrong with this system. Live the customizable lights and alien face power button.

I waited until this item went on sale as it did about 4 months ago and finally they dropped the price. I am pleased with the speed, quietness, and versatility of the desktop so far. The only downside (and there are not many) is that the dvd/cd drive is a bit flimsy. Nice product so far.

As some background I have never subscribed to the notion of buying a pre-built computer. I have been building my own PCs for most of my life and never really considered going a more mainstream route. That said, the Alienware R7 is a well constructed, high performance computer for the money. I was immediately struck by how compact the enclosure was for the hardware it is packing. It appears to be a BTX enclosure housing a custom motherboard (Z370) and cooling solution. So keep that in mind if you start having a desire to upgrade beyond the GPU, RAM, HDD/SSD, or possibly processor. The R7 came equipped with: i7-8700 16GB RAM (DDR4-2666 Dual Channel Config) 16GB Optane module & 1TB HDD (in software RAID) GTX 1070 (4GB) DVD writer On board Killer Networking (E2500 ethernet and 1535 Wi-fi module with Bluetooth) Windows 10 Home x64 Please note this is the i7-8700 non-K model with 65W TDP. This is not overclockable, but will satsify most gamers. This is a fast six core processor based on the latest Coffee Lake design from Intel. Runs exceptionally quiet even under full load which is a real plus. The GTX 1070 is a rough equivalent to the previous generations 980TI which not that long ago was the fastest game in town. The 1070 can make quick work of nearly all AAA titles maxed out at 1080p. Even 1440p resolution is possible in most with some dialed down settings. Don't bother thinking you will be doing 4K gaming... it just doesn't have the grunt. If you are looking to do VR then this system will have you covered as well. It was silky smooth with my Oculus Rift. What is nice about going with a pre-built system such as this is that GPU pricing has skyrocketed thanks to cryptocurrency mining so that suddenly makes this machine look like a real value. The area I was most concerned with was the Optane cached conventional hard drive. Surprisingly, the approach is very fast and for most operations feels like you are on a machine with a full SSD drive. The only time the cached drive shows its limits is when moving large files (>16GB). Then things slow down to the standard drives transfer rate as the cache drive simply can't help. A 32GB Optane drive would have been better in a machine like this, but most people probably won't notice. The Alienware R7 does come with some preloaded software to allow for control of the case lights (and Alienware accessory lights if you have them). Works fine and allows for a fair amount of customization if you are into RGB lighting. Also has the Killer networking software for packet prioritization among other things. The machine also comes with a keyboard and mouse, but it is certainly nothing fancy (and actually pretty flimsy). I didn't even hook them up, but used my current Corsair hardware. Lastly, the machine does NOT come with a monitor. Overall, I like the machine more than I thought I would. It is snappy and offers great gaming performance. My kids love it and it is now their favorite gaming PC in the house. The R7 offers a quality machine for those that have no interest in building their own.

If you’re looking for a computer that as good quality, look no further! The price was over the top and they added so much money for taxes *screech* but besides that it was pretty easy to set up and works like a dream! (Only if you’re willing to spend a ton of moolah)

Liquid cooled i7 8700 + 16GB 2667MHz RAM + GTX 1070 - bang for your buck. RGB illumination is a plus too. Probably add a NVMe SSD like the 960 EVO and you have a machine to last you for 2-3 years easy!

I bought this computer to replace my 10 year old customer built computer. I didn't realize how slow my old computer was until I got this one. While the video card isn't the top tier card it runs everything I need it to at 60FPS. The drive while not SSD was "normal" speed at first it seems like the Intel Optane Memory function does some kind of caching that speeds up the drive over time to near SSD speeds. I installed a second 2TB drive for my games and it to uses the Intel Optane Memory function. The USB 3.0 also makes transfer to external devices about 5 times faster as well. I highly recommend this computer, especially if you can get it for under $1,200 like I did. The only downside I can think of is that the keyboard and mouse that come with it are substandard. I upgraded both of those within a week.

I’ll start by saying I know the basics about computers and what the specs mean. I got this on sale for $1250 and have no problems. Using exclusively for VR gaming . For someone not looking to build there own, I see this as a great option.

It’s a crazy time for PC gaming when you consider the skyrocketing prices of both ram and GPUs. This PC is an excellent alternative for the price. In the current market, you would spend well over the sale price of this machine if you built it yourself.

Had this over a year now. It’s great but replaced the GPU recently with the RTX 2080TI and bigger psu. Just preference, nothing wrong with stock parts. Has been running a bit slow last few months, especially on start up

This is a great gaming system. Worked great right out of the box. It is fast enough to do anything we are going to do with it. Since it has a full sized case we can add more video cards or anything else we want to do in the future.

I got this computer as my old 7 year old computer was close to death. I wanted a new one for Flight Simulator. This one is the gold standard. Has a top of the line graphics card. Would also be perfect for gaming. Overall very happy with this.

I've had the computer for a month right now and so far so good. It's a little loud but I just had to adjust the fans and open it up and move some things around. Other then that I'm loving this computer and I get a good FPS on all games.

The aurora R7 was a great deal, super easy to set up and get started. Computer is super fast and makes playing games super fun with great fps. I would recommended this computer to every one. I'm still amazed at how fast it runs.

My previous 10 year old potato could not survive the rigorous tasks of running buggy alpha and beta games. But the Space ship from above has delegated the potato to sacrificial babysitting duty.

My last gaming computer died (not an Alienware), I was pleasantly surprised to see this computer available right off the shelf. It has the RAM, CPU, and video card needed to runs today's--and tomorrow's--games.

So far it has plowed through all the games I have thrown at it on my steam account, loads up pretty fast and I do love how alienate is constantly updating the bios. Awesome rig, recomend to the general PC gamer.
