||Posted . Owned for 8 months when reviewed. This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The stock specs run as promised but upgrading any parts is the biggest pain ever. Switched back from ASUS to Alienware
Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.First off, for anybody who wants to point out they could build this cheaper than what Alienware charges, I agree, but I also have no desire to be a diy hobbyist when it comes to something I could fry myself. That said, my first really cool gaming rig was an Alienware Aurora R2 which I had for nearly five years. I love it, but the cooling system at five years starts to worry me with the liquid cooled rigs so I switched to an ASUS ROG G20 with a 970 GTX which I still have. It's a great air cooled system half the size of my old R2(which I donated to my kid)and was wonderful when it was just my gaming rig. Shortly after I purchased it, however, I started working from home 40 hours a week, so after using my system all day as a work computer and then deciding to play fallout 4 or skyrim for another four to six hours I started to get shutdowns, graphical errors from the heat. So I purchased this beauty on sale last weekend along with a rocketfish hdmi 4k switcher box, so now have a work tower and a gaming tower. The R7 is plenty fast with the 1080GTX, a ton of 3.0 USB ports, and runs quiet (though oddly, not quite as quiet as my original R2 or the ASUS). Plays everything well on high, and since best buy was doing 24 months 0% financing at the time it was worth to me. Oddly, they had the same rig on sale for the same price online with a 256Gb ssd, but if I wanted to see if the vaunted optane memory with a 1080 gtx would be fast enough for me, which it was, though its nice to know that the addition of an ssd drive later (likely a 1tb western digital) would be an option. Have never had a problem with an Alienware (and the old R2 still works fine as my kids computer after I upgraded the graphic card to a 7780), and hopefully this one goes for another five years.

Nice Computer Until It Died
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.Tried connecting the computer to the monitor with the DP cable, it continually crashed the monitor. Had to switch to an HDMI cable. After two weeks it started crashing, online diagnostics with Dell showed a memory card failure. Shortly after this the computer failed to boot, spent three hours on the phone with Dell Support attempting to fix this with no luck. It has now been shipped to Dell to be repaired. Expected better from a $1,500 computer.

forced to factory reset, then unexpected problems
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. After about a month I was prompted to restart due to some driver failure. I'm not sure exactly what driver, I just decided to restart anyways. This is where everything went south. As soon as this pc restarted it wouldn't boot into Windows. I figured a factory reset would be faster than trying to fix the issue since this pc was only a month old and i wouldn't lose much. After the reset i notice a few things different from the out of box state I originally received it in. I'll list the problem below. -Slow start ups (50/50 chance) -doesn't wake up after entering sleep mode (100% chance) -RGB on side panels turning off (random) -computer shut off immediately after startup (once) Though these aren't the worst, they're very irritating considering the amount of money i paid for it. Anyone else having these issues?

Thanks for your review. We're sorry to hear that your new computer is not performing the way you'd like it to. We'd recommend limiting the number of programs that launch at startup so that your computer can start faster for you:
1. Close all open windows.
2. Press CTRL + Shift + ESC key together on the keyboard.
3. In the Task Manager window, click Startup tab.
4. Select the program or application that you want to disable from loading during startup.
5. Right-click and select Disable.
6. Repeat Step 4 & 5 for all the programs or applications that you want to disable from loading during startup.
7. Restart your PC.

An Awesome Gaming Rig!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Alienware R7 Aurora is an amazing gaming PC. It handles everything from the newest games to VR with ease. I love this system, and don't plan on needing a new one for quite some time. Especially since the system is expandable to ensure it is future-proof for quite some time. Coming with 16 GB of RAM (upgradeable to 64 GB), an 8th-gen 6-core i7 proecessor, an NVidia GeForce GTX 1080 graphics card, and a 2 TB hard drive, you can see that this is certainly a robust system. Now add in that it is liquid cooled, and you will see this syetm is perfect for your gaming needs. I was surprised to see that this system didn't come with an SSD (Solid State Drive), but come to find out, the Optane Memory allows standard hard drives to behave like SSDs, giving an incredibly fast bootup (under 20 seconds). This also leads to incredibly snappy program startups and navigation. Another interesting feature is the external lighting on this computer: you can change it up. You can set the light colors on each side of the computer, as well as the power button. You make make them all the same color, have them all be different colors, or have the color change based on system events, like an email notification. Finally, this system is loaded with USB ports. is has 7 SuperSpeed USB 3.1 ports, and 6 standard USB 2.0 ports, ensuring you'll have plenty of ports, both for fast and slow data-transfer needs.

Amazing gaming desktop!
|Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review. The Alienware - Aurora R7 Desktop is an amazing machine! Before I go any further than that, I'd like to advice potential buyers to be ready to purchase (if you don't already have these things) a monitor and keyboard/mouse to your liking. The keyboard and mouse that come with the computer are cheap and flimsy. You will also need an HDMI cable to connect to you monitor, as the only things that come in the box are the keyboard, mouse, computer, and power cable. The setup was really easy, as usual. After I had the Alienware - Aurora R7 Desktop up an running, I immediately got to gaming. I played shooter, racing, and various types of games that were really demanding, and I have to say that the Alienware R7 desktop handled them without a flinch. The computer is very responsive and with liquid cooling, you can play nonstop without having to worry about a thing. With a 2TB hard drive, you have ample storage room. Another plus, the tower looks amazing!

It is OK.
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I was disappointed about Alienware - Aurora R7 Desktop. It is no different than my old Dell. Alienware is highly slower than my expectation. Even I have purchased Cyberpowerpc. it is junk. Some screws was missing. I think I am gonna move to Apple. Windows and intel PC is not productive. I have purchased apple MacBook pro for my daughter. She was very happy. Still I have been testing Alienware. I might return it. Alienware made me a disappointing.

Waste of money
||Posted .This reviewer received promo considerations or sweepstakes entry for writing a review.I am so frustrated with this purchase. Within 1 month, during an automatic update, the computer crashed and I lost 30 hours worth of work that I had to re-do. Customer service was a joke, no one could help and they seemed irritated that I was even calling. Returning it isn't an option, and it's starting to become glitchy. Talk about buyer's remorse.
