I wanted to love this monitor, but the experience was unacceptable.
Brightness Issues: Out of the box, the display was extremely dim. I had to spend an inordinate amount of time tinkering with settings just to make it usable, and even then it often wasn’t.
Build Quality: After only 48 hours of use, I noticed dozens of micro scratches in the upper right corner of the screen. At first I thought I saw strands of hair, but it turned out to be scratches. The monitor was brand new, never cleaned, and only had the protective peel removed before use. I never touched the panel directly, so this was shocking.
HDR Performance: Because I had to artificially boost brightness through the NVIDIA Control Panel, HDR looked terrible. Whites were washed out, colors lost depth, and overall performance was disappointing.
For a premium product, this is simply not acceptable. Between the dim panel, poor HDR, and fragile screen surface, the Alienware 27" 4K OLED was a major letdown.

Purchased as open box, excellent condition. Monitor had threaded screws in the back plate, which, after some research, only come into play when the monitor is being disassembled - like during a warranty repair.
After taking the monitor home, plugging it in, and turning it on I discovered multiple flickering streaks horizontal on the panel itself. Present across multiple input devices. Consulted the Dell knowledge base, known issue. Solution, run a pixel refresh. Okay, did that. Didn't change a thing. Knowledge base next steps? Internal to Dell only, apparently, and must involve full replacement of the panel.
Also, by utilizing the USB A to USB B cable to connect the monitor to my PC (in an attempt to update the firmware, before I realized there were no firmware updates available) it installed Alienware monitor control software to my computer without permission, no request, somehow subverting UAC on Windows 11, which I vehemently disagree with for many reasons.
Not only will I not buy another open box monitor from Best Buy, I will never purchase another Alienware or Dell (parent company) product.

An eye-popping crystal clear OLED experience, coming from an LCD this display will surely surprise you!
4k at 240hz, a fine compromise until 5k displays hit the market!
