Customers are saying

Customers appreciate the superb sound quality and comfortable design of the AW510H Wired 7.1 Gaming Headset. Many also highlight the convenient retractable microphone and lightweight feel, making it enjoyable for extended use. However, some users found the fit to be inconsistent and reported issues with bass levels and overall volume. A few customers also felt the price point was somewhat high.

    Amazing sound

These headphones are amazing. I'm no audiophile, but the difference between these and my turtle beach is astounding. I can here stuff in game that was never there before. Having the option to go USB or 3.5mm is a bonus. While not noise cancelling, these fit and are constructed so well they block out a ton of background noise. The cons, the volume slider is very touchy. The slightest bump, even unintentional, drops the sound way down. No instructions were or quickstart guide was provided. Had to bomb around the dell site for software drivers for this, and the command center is not real intuitive. That's the reason for 4 stars. Sound quality only, 5 stars.

As I write this review I find the sound very clear and loud clear. The only issue is long term wearing seems to be a bit bothersome. Speech is well heard ( used if for video chat test) Takes some getting used to for adjustments to ear cups They are removable to be clean or replace. 4 Locking 45 degree turn to release. Not super loud over USB, but my windows 10 machine downloaded the software and enable the use on first boot up. Overall pretty happy with with them. Build quality is awesome!

Comfy headsets for a noisy space

I use these with my PC in a place that is very noisy and often crowded. As soon as I slide this headset on, I'm greeted with glorious quiet. The audio is crisp, and I have no difficulty hearing it, no matter how loud the environment around me. The cups fit snugly over my ear and are comfy. I don't have to worry about taking earrings out to avoid having my ears pinched or stabbed like with some other headsets. The mic works great too. Slides out of the way when not needed and super flexible to get just right. Would definitely recommend.

    Comfortable but FLAWED.

PROS First off, I want to say that these are very comfortable. I have a larger than average head so naturally finding a comfortable headset is a little harder than most people. The audio quality is equal to or slightly better than my already good old Razer Kraken V2's that I replaced with these. As with most modern Alienware products, build quality is also solid; these things feel like they could last a decade and still look as good as the day you bought them. FLAWS If you were looking for a gaming headset to use for comms in competitive games, I sure hope that you don't like to listen to music/game sounds at more than HALF VOLUME because otherwise, THE MICROPHONE WILL PICK UP THESE SOUNDS!! As you can imagine, if you are open mic in Discord this can be extremely distracting for your teammates. Now you may be wondering why the mic picks up so much of this sound, that is because the cans on this set leak an ABSURD amount of audio; not to mention they are not effective at all at sound isolation; so I hope you enjoy hearing everyone in your room; while they hear every game sound/lyric you are listening to. Lastly, Alienware Command Center is GARBAGE!!! It is a buggy mess and is a horrible user experience. Do not recommend using that if at all possible lol. Only get these if you don't care about competitive comms (or if you plan on strictly using Push To Talk) and don't care about any sort of sound isolation. (I bought these on a different retailer but wanted to get this review here to warn people if these are things that would make them unhappy with their purchase)

    Fantastic audio

Let me start by saying I am a professional audio engineer, and I am very picky with speakers in general, and headphones specifically. Many headphones may sound good, but very few sound *accurate*. This pair from Alienware is accurate. I used them instead of my normal work studio headphones for a week, and I think I may just stick with this pair. The audio I produced with these as a reference was precise and reproduced exactly as I intended on a variety of other speakers. Putting work aside, I have thoroughly enjoyed listening to music, as well as gaming. I've not used the microphone for anything more complex than a few phone calls, but the sound quality is decent (which is about all you can expect from an on-board headphone mic). Just about the only negative is that they are difficult to transport - too big and fragile to toss into a bag, so I've had to carry them separately. All in all, a great pair of headphones.

Alienware delivers again with solid gaming peripherals to compliment their excellent Gaming PCs and Laptops. These headphones are advertised as 7.1 channel but it seems like that is only the case if you connect them via USB and use the accompanying Alienware software which is only supported on Alienware laptops and desktops (Command Center). The 3.5mm connection will work with any device that has a 3.5mm minijack and you'll get some excellent stereo headphones and microphone support. The design and style of these headphones are great. Sure they are a little on the large side but they fit great on my 7 3/4" baseball cap head which is on the larger size. Better too big than too small for extended play sessions. Overall these are great headphones that look excellent as well. Alienware delivers again!

I use to always game with turtle beach headsets but now after switching over to the Alienware PC, I figured I’d buy Alienware headphones and I am NOT disappointed. Love these things. Easy to set up and great sound quality.

    Good Looks, So-so Sound

I love the way this headset looks, so I really wanted to like it. unfortunately, I found the sound quality and comfort to be severely lacking. First, the headset itself looks great. The finish is a slightly shimmery matte white that looks and feels good. It's a larger headset with big, around ear cups and a mic that can be left in one earcup or pulled out. The earcups swivel, and the headband does not fold for travel. The earcups are also very deep and covered in a soft fabric that holds heat in. I found that after about an hour my ears had become very hot and uncomfortable. I had to take a break to cool down. Included are cables for every situation, including a Y adapter in case you have a separate mic and headphone jack and a USB adapter to use them strictly as a USB headset. The cables are sheathed in a nylon material and are extremely microphonic, meaning every movement of the cable (like when it rubs on my shirt as I turn my head) translates to loud noise inside the headphone. Since the cable goes up one side to my shoulder the noise is constant and annoying. Additionally, sound is disappointingly muddy and muffled. These seem to be tuned to offer MOAR BASS(!!) for gaming and nothing more. They are not useful for listening to music, and speech from other people is so muddy it's hard to understand them. While I love my Alienware gaming mouse, I would look for another alternative when picking out a gming headset.

Cool looking. Sweat a lot for long term use(3~4 hours). The microphone got stuck inside.
