Customers are saying

Customers express satisfaction with the m15 R3's performance, graphics capabilities, build quality, refresh rate, and screen quality. However, negative feedback frequently centers on the battery life, heat generation, and the inability to upgrade the RAM. The loud fan noise during operation is also a recurring concern for some users. While some users note high temperatures, others find the overall gaming experience positive despite this.

I bought the Alienware m15 R3 core i7 with 16GB RAM and NVIDIA RTX 2070 SUPER. I did a lot of research comparing a lot laptops before buying this and this is a really good gaming laptop that I will recommend everyone to buy. Before I purchased it, I was worried about the weight and the heating problem(common issue with all the gaming laptops). But this laptop really did a good job with cooling, probably because of their new cooling system technology and also because it has separate fans for CPU and the GPU. I play a lot of COD, It worked fine even in High level of graphics. I was really surprised to see that this laptop is really light weight given that this is a hardcore gaming laptop. With the 300Hz screen I didn't even feel like getting a monitor(all the monitors above 144Hz are really expensive), I would recommend you to get the 17.3" laptop if you can spend few extra bucks, even with a 15.6" screen I don't have any complains. In the end I made my friend buy this laptop too and we both are happy with our purchase.

Good desktop replacement, not so great at mobility

This is a gaming desktop replacement even though it is only a 15" laptop. The 2070 Super inside performs well, and though there is a lot of fan noise, its not as bad as some of the other Dells or Asus machines that I've been trying out. Whereas those were built to be mobile and slim and light, this one is still relatively slim, relatively light, but not mobile. This is because of the 300Hz display that leverages the dGPU all the time, so you are looking at 2-3 hours at best when you are away from the wall. If you are always plugged in, I think the m17 r3 model makes more sense, and it runs much cooler (almost 10 degrees Celcius cooler according to online reviewers) due to its bigger frame and bigger fans, which also operate at lower-pitched frequencies than smaller fans. But it is much heavier, no surprise.

    Crappy dell product

When I first opened the box, I thought wow, so this is an alienware computer. It was my first by alienware and I was impressed by the build quality, solid metal, and the keyboard when I first turned it on. Unfortunately, alienware is just another crappy dell product. Thankfully I bought this computer during the holidays, and had two months to try this computer out. Just a day or so after the 30 day mark, the computer suddenly shut down on me while I was playing WOW and gave me a blue screen with a QR code and a message saying no hard drive was detected. Not fun for a $2K computer. I restarted the computer and it acted as if nothing had happened. Nonetheless, I knew I had to return it at this point but I kept it for about two more couple of weeks, during which time the hard drive error replicated itself a few more times and one time when I turned the computer on the keyboard didn't light up and wasn't responsive at all. I had to connect an external keyboard to get into the computer and I updated the drivers for the keyboard and eventually got it working again. I would not recommend this computer at all. On top of the errors I had, it does run VERY hot. Its a laptop and I used it on my lap with a laptop desk. While the heat being blown out of this thing to the sides was alot, the top of the keyboard was impossible to touch because it was so hot. Also, the power cord was very loosely connected to the laptop and would fall out all the time. I can imagine that problem getting worse to the point where the power cord wouldn't stay in at all in a year or two. I'm glad I was able to get rid of this computer. This was the last dell product I will be buying, since every dell i've had for the past 10+ years has been a lemon.

Truly impressed with the speed and quality of this laptop. The power is definitely shown upon loading up a game. The RGBs are hypnotizing and the keyboard feel is really what I fell in love with. I type alot and the keyboard has a very nice feel to it. I've been using this for streaming and photo editing. it performs like if its truly out of this world.

This laptop is spectacular. I have had it for a little over a month now and have no complaints. The initial AWCC bugs were somewhat annoying but extremely easy to troubleshoot. I would recommend undervolting it since the temperatures can get a little warm. I was able to drop the temperature by about 25 degrees after I did that.

Powerful machine, but it get's very hot when gaming on newer games. the CPU won't go above 100c the way they have it configured. It will handle any game you throw at it.

Great RTX2070S but the power brick was forced to upgrade to a huge one, track pad is weird and small, screen has high refresh rate but not good quality. Overall, great to carry around occasionally and use as a portable desktop

Performance is great but there is a static sound when there i use the headphone jack. Also the thermals are really hot, close to 90 degrees during gaming at all times but clock speeds are stuck at 4.2ghz which is really good.

This machine is a powerhouse! It's basically perfect in everything I wanted from a laptop aside from the RAM being soldered onto the motherboard which means you can't upgrade the ram to 32GB from 16GB which would have been perfect. But who cares, I'll just stop leaving 100 chrome tabs opened

My son absolutely loves this laptop. With its speeds, memory and other components it’s ahead of the game for the price category so no upgrades needed. I recommend spending the extra money now versus another laptop when the slower one needs to be put down because it doesn’t function well anymore.

For a laptop, this thing is awesome. I kept deciding on just getting a desktop or going for this, and I'm glad I bought this laptop. The only thing I could think to complain about is the battery life, but that's kinda assumed to be bad when you have a high powered laptop like this.

Pretty nifty computer. Plays high-end games on ultra, including Cyberpunk, with little dropping in the way of frames. Runs a bit hot around the keyboard and the 1920 x 1080 resolution display might not be for everyone, but I really do think the 300 Hz display looks pretty swell. A good portion of high-end games hold up well in higher resolution displays if you hook them up to this laptop externally though. A big downside, however, is the small amount of storage, with 512 GB (which comes down to a little over 450 GB with all the preinstalled software) definitely being a bit lacking considering how sizable in memory modern games have become.
