Huge upgrade from her previous machine and I've heard nothing but good things. Says all of her games look brand new and theres virtually no wait time to load everything up.

We would like to thank you for taking the time to provide us with your feedback. We apologize for the issues you have come across with your new Alienware m15 R5 gaming laptop because it is overheating and the fan is too noisy.
To help with the overheating issue, we would recommend making sure the BIOS is up to date on your PC. I have provided a link to the Drivers and Downloads page so you can check for and do any applicable updates. Dell has also released an Intel Power Management Utility to help with the overheating that you may be experiencing on your computer. For this package to take effect, the system power plan must be set to Balanced under the Additional Power Settings. Also, the Power Mode option that is displayed when you click the battery icon, should be set to Better Performance. This package only takes effect on AC power and not on battery power. The Intel Power Management Utility can be found here - http://dell.to/3tStRgX.

Below I have also provided steps to run a pre-boot diagnostic test that can help with fan noise:
1. Restart your Dell PC.
2. When the Dell logo appears, press F12 key to enter One-time Boot Menu.
3. Use the arrow keys to select Diagnostics and press Enter key on the keyboard.
4. Follow the on-screen prompts and respond appropriately to complete the diagnostics.
5. If the test fails, ensure to write down the error code and validation code.

I got this as an exchange from the HP Omen 16. This thing IS capable of VR, no issues at all. Smooth like "butta". Nice size, not too loud. seems to get a little laggy ever now and then on the pc side.

Not worth the price tag when considering both sides. Macbook, Asus or MSI. Not worth buying high-end Dells when the drivers are so bad that I can't even turn off the keyboard backlight. Hardware isn't even that good for the price either.

This is two years later and it completely died on me and of course I don’t have a warranty because it ended after two years. My warranty literally ended two months ago this computer has so many problems it’s not worth it.

This is certainly not the experience that we like to hear from our customers. We appreciate your feedback and will use it to help improve our current and future products.
Below I have provided troubleshooting tips with the full article that can help resolve the overheating issue:
1. Make sure the system is in a well-ventilated area.
2. Use laptops on flat surfaces to improve airflow. Hard table tops are recommended and avoid using any type of cloth or any other soft material under the laptop.
3. For desktop systems make sure there is enough clearance around the system to allow the air to flow. If the system is in an enclosure try to move it to a more ventilated area for testing.
4. Check that the air vents are clean and that there is nothing obstructing them.
5. Update your system BIOS to the latest available in Dell Support Site.
6. You can reset your BIOS settings to undo any changes that could be causing the system to overheat.
7. Disable NVIDIA G SYNC and run a stress test using SupportAssist.
8. Navigate to the Thermal Controls in the Alienware Command Center, which is found under the Fusion tab. There you can adjust the thermal control of system fans and change the status of active venting.
