Great powerhouse of a laptop at a reasonable price

Built quality improved over the last years - Everything is still plastic though so I would rate 8/10
I/O - Moving the IO's to the back of the laptop was actually a great move. I felt a little sketchy before I had this but using it now it feels great. I feel I'm ONE USB too short, but ok. 8/10
Screen is great for its size, contrast is great! It's QHD+, 240hz so that's awesome if you don't have a second screen. 9/10
Keyboard feels really solid regarding size, placement and overall quality feel. Same for the trackpad. 7/10
Sound quality is really poor (at least with my unit) but not that I would be using that a lot, I mostly use Headsets anyway. 5/10
Now what REALLY matters:
Processor - The new R9 7845HX is ABSURD! It trumps the i9's of latest 13th gen. Really good power house with good value to it. Thermals are good for something powerful like this - thanks to Alienware's cooling solution. 10/10
GPU - I got the 4080 version and I couldn't have made a better choice. This is WAAAY better than the 4070 by about 20% and dominates last gen 3080Ti for about 25%. It's 12GB GDDR6X is also a great improvement. It is AWESOME without being overpriced like the 4090. 10/10
RAM - Being one of the new line of laptops with DDR5 is awesome, I just feel like the default 16GB is on the low side....it should come with at least 32GBs (I already did the upgrade myself, but still...) - 8/10
SSD - Didn't perform any specific tests or anything because the nuances on a daily use are pretty much unnoticeable. M.2 SSD slot with 1TB of space, pretty standard. 9/10
Battery - You're a lunatic if you think this power house has a good battery....It's size is good but come on....no one will use this outside of the outlet.... 9/10
Overall - 8/10
If this came with a metal chassis and with 32GB ram from the factory it would be 10/10. Really glad I got this over the Intel version though.

Great laptop but high temps & AMD driver issues

Great laptop for gaming, max out AAA games with Ultra settings at 2k resolution and over 160 fps. Has Mux switch ,2 open m.2 slots and upgradable ram.
The cons for this laptop is high temps. Yes Intel runs hot but this AMD CPU goes to another level hits 100 to 101 degrees Celsius constantly gaming.
Also AMD driver issues for integrated graphics cards. Blue screen constantly on boot up. Did wipe and restore, dell trouble shooter and clean driver install same issues. Went with dell only drivers still there.
If I disable integrated and do Nvidia only, then issue is gone but so is battery life.
Just swapped it out for Intel alienware m16 Intel core i9 at Best buy.
If it has AMD be prepared for high temps and driver instability do yourself a favor and buy the Intel model of this. It is amazing.

Very upset with this laptop. All these amazing specs just to be a pile of hot garbage. It seems like alot of these high end laptops have issues. I was upset with the alienware brand when they have always been at the top. When it ran it was perfect. Then the screen went.

For the price performance ratio, this is a no brainer. The i9-13900hx is last gen, but it still screams and with thunderbolt to boot (no usb-4 on AMD 7945hx or 7845hx). With $250 best buy rewards price down to $1449. Where can you purchase a GTX 4080 with i9-13900hx for that?

What a beast of a laptop this is! I bought it on an open-box sale they had and it was worth every penny. The keyboard is the best keyboard I've typed on a laptop, including my MacBook Pro. The screen is beautiful! I will say that it can get loud when gaming but I think that's normal for a gaming laptop that has a smaller chassis compared to a desktop (obviously). I really like the Windows Hello built-in. The speakers are okayish. They lack bass but its loud enough in my opinion. The battery life for a gaming latop is alright, at least to me. It will get about 3ish hours on battery if you're doing light stuff. I've read that some people play games without plugging in their gaming laptops and complain about the battery life which I think is kind of weird to say as these type of devices chug on power. Anywho, I will say that I wish it had another usb-a connection on the right side because it looks like Dell could have fit one there. I managed to install a 64 GB kit of RAM in it, it's great tbh. The 4080 in this machine is amazing, I've been able to run everything in Ultra/Max settings for nearly every game I throw at it, which includes Hogwarts Legacy, The Last of Us, Starfield, CoD MW2 (2022), Spiderman, RE4 Remake, just to name a few. The Ryzen 9 is such a beast as well, it handles everything it throw at it really well and fast. I highly recommend this device if you are in the market for a gaming laptop. One last thing is that this laptop will come with the beefy 330w charger brick which weighs more than the laptop imo.

Alienware m16 review

In summary, the Alienware m16 lives up to its promise in speed and build quality, delivering impressive FPS in games like TCM at max settings. The user-friendly command center meets my needs, and the sturdy build, while a bit heavy, adds to its durability. The larger power cord is a minor inconvenience, and though not ideal for daily lugging, it's manageable. Regrettably, the laptop falls short in battery, exhibiting a less-than-ideal battery life, This aspect becomes particularly pronounced for users who value portability and require extended usage periods without access to a power outlet. While the price justifies most aspects, the battery troubles prevent a perfect 5-star rating.

All in all I think this is a great computer. I’m getting the power and speed I paid for. The 4080 and ryzen 9 deliver great fps on all the games I play. Currently playing starfield and I average roughly 100fps in new Atlantis. On max to ultra settings. When I look up my 4K monitor I’m still averaging 60+ fps. So the hardware does it’s job. For the command center I am a big fan of it is very user friendly and easy to navigate. I don’t know what the alianware command center was like before this one but I heard people didn’t like it. But this one does everything I need it to. When it comes to build quality it phenomenal. It is definitely sturdy and a little on the heavy side but personally I don’t mind that I kind of view it as a plus because it doesn’t feel cheap and feel like it will break easily. The power cord is bigger and heavier then I would like and takes up a lot of space. I know they could have used a smaller one. So that knocks alittle points off. But not the end of the world. If you are going to lugging this thing around every day it may not be your favorite. Now my biggest complaint is the audio. While it’s working it’s great. It drowns out the fan noise no problem and the quality is good. But frequently the audio will cut out and have a little static so that’s alittle disappointing. For the price I paid I would expect that to work. That is the only thing keeping it from 5 stars in my opinion.

Bought used and ran into issues where the graphics card wasn't detected. Was able to get them sorted out with Dell thanks to their support but it took a good 2-3 weeks before I could start using it. Laptop is very powerful though, a little too powerful. The CPU was heavily unnecessary but consumes relatively low power. Just that the temps would've been better with a lesser processor since it never goes above 50% utilization. Lots of apps you have to manage with the dual GPU and different audio apps. I'd also opt for upgrading or purchasing the 32gb model. All in all, it can handle anything that can be thrown at it. Definitely worth the purchase but be careful and run your tests when buying used.

This is a beast of a machine! Blazing fast processing speed and GPU (4080 does wonders) and the overall built of this laptop is excellent. Just two minor issues for me - it generates a lot of CPU heat (though solved by it's cooling system), and the laptop weight is above average heavy. Other than those, this is an excellent gaming laptop.

My son requested this…got a good sale price, but ended up opting for an open box one. This replaced a 6 yo Alienware laptop, and it’s like night and day. Doesn’t outperform a desktop, of course, and when pushed, fans are noisy, but the performance is outstanding. It blows away my Ryzen G15 - but it should, I paid less than 1/2 the price for that one. Build quality seems excellent, his only complaint is that he wasn’t familiar with Windows 11 and would have preferred 10. Not the slimmest/quietest laptop out there, but was never intended to be. Can’t really judge the battery life since it’s always plugged in, but I’m guessing most purchasers won’t care - it won’t perform as well on battery, and since you are paying for performance, I’m guessing this stays plugged in for most buyers. Thrilled with the purchase.

It is really fast, plays games as youd expect. Feels nice quality wise. Light weight for a gaming computer. However battery life is bad even just sitting idle youre lucky to get an hour unplugged. Its not very efficient at cooling. Will max out the CPUs 100 degree max playing simple games without even using overclocking featurss. But most of that is as to be expected for what it is

Yup, the Concord Jet was flippin awesome, but had a few major flaws, crashes and was a bit to loud and expensive to keep around. Thats this baby right here. It absolutley rips through 'em vidja games but an efficient laptop, nay PC, it is not.. exactly. So lets get this straight. There are people this would be perfect for. If you plan on leaving it plugged in on AC aaaand have an already high aptitude for tech aaand have the patience of... a very patient thing; then you can probably tolerate this machine, because it is a beast (cant stress that enough). Based on my research this would preform close to a desktop with a 4070 gpu, so yeah pretty cool. Want upgradeability? You got it. Fast nvme SSD? Here! The screen is also shockingly tolerable for an IPS panel. The speakers are ok, they get loud but they don't sound all that good. Battery life doesnt really exist. Ive been browsing the web unplugged this morning and it seems like itll tap out arround 2-3 hours max with a reasonable effort to save juice: RGB disabled on keyboard, the back rear facing RGB enabled because its awesome, AWCC set to balanced, windows on power efficiency mode and screen set to MAX brightness because I'm not in a dungeon. This will probably remain a capable machine for quite a few years to come, just as long as it can survive its own bugs. Buggy BIOS, buggy MUX switch, even buggy RGB. Yes it runs hot but that's how dell configured it, so if they believe it'll last then it might. But you also dont want to drop over 2k for something that "might last", do you?

Amazing out of the box. I went with an open-box version, and it's working great. Awesome build quality, easily upgradeable (upgraded to 32gb RAM), and is aesthetically pleasing. Temps are normal, no coil wine, and easily get 165+fps on extreme settings for MWIII. Best gaming rig ive ever owned. The only negative is I'm not the biggest fan of the Alienware Command Center (AWCC). Feels half the time, and slow. Other than that, the machine and its performance are spectacular.
Also: Charging brick is big, but not as bad as everyone makes it out to be. Dell/AW has a smaller one that can be purchased from their website or Amazon if it's a dealbreaker.
