This is a great machine and offers good price-to-performance! The build quality is phenomenal! Port selection pretty much has everything you would want including Ethernet, full size SD card slot, 3 USB As, 3 USB Cs, HDMI, and even Mini DisplayPort! The 480hz screen is super smooth even if it’s a little ridiculous. While I think a QHD+ screen makes more sense at this 18 inch size the panel is still very good with great colors and good brightness for indoor use. The 16:10 aspect ratio also makes the display super immersive and just so satisfying to use! The fans on mine can be a little whiny at about 50% speed but I guess that’s what headphones are for. The 4070 is very potent especially with this display’s resolution and you can play almost anything with it. Trackpad is plastic and is ok to use but not super smooth. Speakers can get very loud just don’t expect it to have the definition of a good pair of headphones. Battery life will probably be ok but not great because 7000 series Ryzen is less power efficient and the display doesn’t support 60hz refresh rate, the lowest you can go is 120hz. Lastly and this was the big surprise it has Advanced Optimus and G-Sync which is something I hadn’t seen before in a Ryzen based machine!! Also, getting it with Total Tech is great! Best Buy’s extended warranty is a nice safety net. So overall this is a good value and a great price to performance option!

Alienware m18 18" Gaming Laptop Review

If you're looking for sheer power and top-tier gaming performance, the Alienware m18 with an AMD Ryzen 9 7000 series processor and NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 definitely delivers. With 32GB of RAM and a blazing fast 480Hz FHD+ display, this machine handles everything from AAA titles to heavy multitasking with ease. Games look incredibly smooth, and the performance stays consistent even under load. However, all that power comes with a trade-off—this laptop is big and heavy. At 18 inches, it’s more of a portable desktop than a true laptop. It’s not ideal for frequent travel or lap use, but if you're using it primarily at a desk or in a gaming setup, it's an absolute beast. The Dark Metallic Moon finish gives it a sleek, futuristic look, and the build quality feels solid and premium. Pros: Outstanding performance Gorgeous 480Hz display Excellent cooling and build quality Great for serious gamers and creators Cons: Very large and heavy Not ideal for portability Verdict: If you want desktop-level power in a laptop and don’t mind the size, the Alienware m18 is a fantastic choice. Just be ready to carry some extra weight.

I love this computer, talk about fast because this thing can sure download big games that are like 100GB in less than 20 minutes. And wow those graphics are superb, I’ve seen so many movies, YouTube videos and played many games at the highest resolution and there’s no lag at all. Everything runs smoothly even when you go overdrive, the fans do sound loud when running certain big games but hey, as least you get to play the game without any problems. It also helps to know that the fans are keeping the cpu cool. So if you do buy one and hear those fans running loud, don’t get worried right away, it’s totally normal. This is my first gaming laptop so I’m talking from experience. Another cool and amazing feature about this laptop is it shows you the temperature it’s running at and you can choose how you want it running, from the lowest and quietest mode to the most highest and loudest. This sure is one hell of an awesome gaming laptop and if your new to getting them then I for sure recommend this one. Also getting an external hard drive or upgrading the laptop will make it more powerful as well, either way just the way it is, it’s powerful enough already. Best decision I made.

Can literally play any pc game on steam and other platforms! Great for gaming, movies, work, school and what I love about it is that it’s portable you can take it anywhere and set up a powerful and reliable laptop that can keep up with a lot of desktops on the market for its price the only flaw is the battery life is short because of how powerful of a laptop it is but let’s be real if your gaming on a laptop your gona keep it plugged in plus it’s 18 inch screen makes it all more that worth it the fans keep it cool when you turn on performance mode by just clicking one of your hot keys at the top of your keyboard just a great item overall

The Alienware M18 is a gaming beast. The display is lovely, the build first-class is pinnacle-notch, and it is filled with all of the ports you want. Yeah, it's highly-priced, but trust me, it is really worth it for the energy and style you get.

I had this computer for approximately two weeks. When it was working properly, it was a fine computer, however there were way too many blue screen of death events on this new computer for me to be comfortable moving ahead with it. I ended up switching to another Alienware m18 laptop with better specs and an Intel chip instead of AMD, and there have been no problems.

Getting this beautiful Alienware I knew going in it was an 18 inch laptop, but even still, I can't believe I am still in awe of how massive it really is in person. Though I am used to ~16 inch range for portability, the m18 is a gaming beast that replaced one of my desktops. Every game I threw at it, it just laughed and asked for more. Packaging was simple. No need for flashiness when all you're gonna care about is getting ready to game. Laptop came well protected and bundled with what is the probably the most biggest and massive power brick I have ever seen in my life. And for good reason. The laptop has hardware that is going to need the 330w that the brick can handle. Setup is quite simple, but gave me a little scare. I read other reviews and didn't see it mentioned, but after plugging it in to charge to 100% and then turning on, the RGBs lit up and the Alien "looking" power button lit up, but there was nothing on the screen nor evidence it was turning on. Luckily, I was patient enough and after roughly 15-20 seconds, the screen finally turns on to the Alienware logo. By the way, to me at least, it's not a 1 time thing. It is every boot up. I am used to almost instant or just a couple of seconds, but I will let it pass. After doing the Win 11 initial setup, I noticed Dell didn't pack a ton of bloatware into the OS and everything I didn't want was easily removable. Thanks Dell. Build quality is fantastic. Although she's a beaut, she is heavy. Good thing too as I would expect that for not only the price point but also the hardware packed in. Full sized RGB backlit mechanical keyboard with a 10-key layout is perfect for my big hands. I can rest my wrists comfortably while typing/gaming and it doesn't interfere with the large trackpad. There are little to no bending/flexing/bowing while holding the weight of my hands. Speakers are built into the bar above the keyboard, but to me it's more for looks than functionality. While it'll get the job done if you're in a pinch, you should be using headphones or an external speaker system anyways as a gamer. Sound quality is literally missing any bass at all. Performance for mobile gaming is top notch. Because it is a FHD+ screen, in my opinion, the hardware is literal overkill for 1920x1200 gaming It's higher than 1080p but not 2k (1440p) so the hardware really isn't pushed to maximum potential. That being said though, you can play a vast majority of games on High or Ultra and your eyes would be more than happy. 32gb of RAM, Ryzen 9 paired with a mobile 4070 is a recipe of greatness. I played and benched Shadow of the Tomb Raid on High with Ray Tracing on highest setting and got over 170 fps on average. Also played Diablo 4, Resident Evil, GTA V and many more with no problems or performance hits at all. One gripe I have is a normal one on laptops. With hardware like this, the AMD Ryzen and the 4070 will get hot and man, do those fans kick in. Yes they do their jobs to cool it down, but they are loud, like mini jet engines loud. Even wearing my headphones and playing at the same time, I could still hear them. Another issue I had and it may or may not effect some, but I like to use external monitors. I used not only HDMI and DisplayPort built in connections, but I also tried out my thunderbolt docking stations. First I tried using HDMI to my 32" 4k 60hz monitor as I thought the laptop could easily run games on it. Even something like Subnautica struggled with 24-30 fps on it. Then I switched to DP and tried it on a 27" 144hz 1440p monitor. Performance was slightly better but I would be a lot of hiccups in performance. Some areas would give me 144 fps, then drop to 50, then level out at 70. Might not seen bad, but I even lowered graphics from High to Medium. Even using a docking station instead of the built in HDMI or DP ports reproduced almost identical results. I could not figure out what I was doing wrong if anything but my other laptops did better in this department with slight lower end hardware. Being a hardcore gaming laptop, this beast needs to be plugged in at all times. Not kidding at all. I would clock about an hour before getting the message to recharge. It's quite laughable, but I knew this going in. In my testing, it didn't matter if I used performance or battery saver modes in Win11 settings. As I said above, I am using this as a desktop replacement and it does the job beautifully doing so. If a desktop replacement or addition to a gaming setup is your goal, take a look at the m18 because it will do the job for a long while. If portability is priority, you may want to rethink your choice. For me, the Alienware delivers on the all the promises it makes and works great for my gaming needs.

Alienware m18 FHD+ 480Hz Gaming Laptop - AMD Ryzen 9 - 32GB Memory - NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 - 1TB SSD - Windows 11 Pro This 18” gaming laptop preforms well but the size and weight ( 9 lbs)put it in the luggable category. Adding to this the power brick is huge and weighs in at about 3 lbs. You are not going to be dragging this around with you except to a LAN party or to another room but it is a good desktop replacement with plenty of built-in connections, a full size keyboard and responsive touchpad that has a light touch but ignores when I rest my wrists during typing. It sports 4 different light zones including custom lighting for t each key. (Programmable with up to 16.8 million distinct colors ) The screen is very nice at with a 1920X1200 resolution though I wish that it came with a touch screen. The battery life is around an hour but that is to be expected with the performance, cooling and screen size/resolution. As expected you get much better performance and cooling (Alienware Cryo-tech™ cooling, ) with this monster laptop plugged in. The fans don’t get noisy even in battery mode. My suggestion is that you get yourself a good laptop cooling stand just to keep you performance up and temps down. A big plus is that you don’t get any heat coming up through the keyboard like I have experienced on other gaming laptops. It is equipped with a AMD Ryzen 9 7845HX processor (76MB Cache, 12 cores, 24threads and up to 5.2 GHz Max Boost), 32GB of RAM and a dedicated NVIDIA GeForce RTX 4070 (8GB GDDR6V-RAM) video help to make this thing work and perform well and it can handle anything game wise you can throw at it. A 1TB M.2 PCIe NVMe SSD gives plenty of space and even has a SD-Card Slot. The machines RAM a nd storage are upgradeable. The touchpad is a Multi-touch gesture Premium Precision glass touchpad with integrated scrolling. It has integrated WiFi with a Qualcomm WCN6856, 2x2, 802.11ax, MU-MIMO, Bluetooth® wireless card giving great wireless connection. And for Video conferencing you have a 1080p at 30 fps FHD IR camera with Dual-array microphones integrated into the top of the screen. Though I am surprised it didn’t have a physical shutter for privacy. The sound quality is pretty good out of the Realtek ALC3254. Stereo speakers, 2 W x 2 = 4 W total. The Alienware command center gives you a lot of controls to set things up the way you want and surprising enough there isn’t really any bloat ware on the PC. You also get one month of Xbox Game Pass Ultimate for PC-including EA play. It has the following Ports with the majority on the left side and the back with one Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 1 Port on the right side. I would have preferred the side ports to be on the right side for a cleaner desktop setup. Right side Type-C USB 3.2 Gen 1 Port Back (2x) Type-C Port (Includes USB 3.2 Gen 2, Display Port 1.4, and Power Delivery (5V/3A) capabilities) Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Port HDMI 2.1 Output Port Mini Display Port 1.4 SD Card Slot Power/DC-in Port Left side RJ45 Ethernet port (2x) Type-A USB 3.2 Gen 1 Ports with Powershare Global Headset Jack This is a nice choice for a desktop style computer in a compact setup but not really a laptop. And it can certainly perform. With lots of connectors you can set it up the way you want it to be with external devices. It has a couple of things I hope they change for the next model but it is much better than the competition.

The hardware can do everything you need it to do, get great fps playing all the big game tittles and more, only game it has struggled just a little bit is Starcitizen, but that game is on a stupid level. Im most impressed with the airflow. Highest I've seen it get is 73c and thats playing Starcitizen with balanced mode on, but thats still impressive. Everything else it runs them high 50's-mid60's Celsius in an cool area. Screen is amazing as well, get astonishing picture. Only complaint and its easily fixable is running a lot of games that support the 480Hz stutter here and there. Just set it down to the next lowest option, usually 120Hz but the games still look the same honestly. Always wanted an Alienware and very happy I went with this one.
