Customers are saying

Customers regard the x15 R2 gaming laptop's performance and graphics capabilities very favorably, with many praising its power and visual quality. However, some users experienced issues with overheating, battery life, and occasional keyboard problems. The laptop's noise level during operation was also a point of concern for a few customers. While the display and refresh rate received positive feedback, potential buyers should be aware of these reported drawbacks.

LOVE THIS COMPUTER… granted the main reason is the price point with the specs made it a steal, this computer still cuts through every game I put through. Marvels Spider-Man ran at 70fps! Only, and I mean only two critiques is a schotty battery which isn’t too bad since I’m usually near a wall, and a stupid amount of updates to get the command center up and running right.

Everything is pretty great on this laptop. It's fast, reasonably quiet, and has decent battery life. Only complaint I have is the Alienware Command Center software. That could be a bit more intuitive, and it required me to reconfigure the operating system on the first boot-up for the software to even function,

Excellent laptop. Upgrade from a mSI G76 and this one beats it in all aspects. It’s lighter, feels more durable and the performance is top shelf. The fan can get loud at times, but that it common knowledge. This machine is excellent, especially for the price i paid.

This is my first gaming laptop, and so far it's a great performer. Runs on the hot side as expected, but a cooling pad underneath does the trick. Great screen, fast performance from the CPU and graphics card, will be using it for video editing as well as gaming. Lots of power for the price.

The pros. It is a great machine love the I-9 love the 32 gigs of RAM another 340 Hertz of the windows 11 without the keyboard of the commander the command center I should say I love everything about the laptop it looks great the lighting is good also. And the cons. Only one con is it heats up very much under load when playing a graphically intense type game you go to the settings super high so my suggestion would be to run at medium settings to probably counter this heating.

Best Gaming Laptop I've ever owned...

tldr; I'm a habitual laptop buyer, owning Razer Blades, Asus Strix Scar's, MSI Raiders, XMG/Eluktronics, etc. the x-series from Alienware is the BEST balance of everything I personally have wanted in a gaming laptop that I have personally purchased. The biggest barrier of entry for the Alienware x-series lineup is price. The question then is, is it worth it? Obviously, this will have to be a question only answered by you. But let's take a pragmatic approach to why I finally chose to purchase only my second Alienware machine, in the 20+ years I've been pc gaming. After weeks of research, comparing, and debating, the X-15 consistently kept making it to the top of my short list of gaming laptops that I would consider purchasing. I wanted something manageable in size, fast'ish (more on this later), great screen, felt good to handle, decent keyboard, and provided customization on cooling profiles and performance. When consider all of this, there's quite a few laptops that definitely meet some of the criteria. However, the Alienware x-15 met met all of it for me. To make this less of random commenting, I'll give an easy to digest pros and cons from someone who's owned most of the laptops from Dell's main competetitors from the past several years. (+) Amazing aesthetic, hardware design with state of the art cooling. Seriously, a 140W TGP RTX 3070 Ti in something that's as thin as a Dell XPS. (+) Screen - I have the 360hz 1080p panel, and I feel this is the perfect resolution for 15". The pixel density is comparable to a 24" QHD monitor. Quality of this 1080p may vary from unit to unit, but my unit have very minimal backlight bleeding. The colors are deep but accurate, contrast is on point and brightness is much higher than many gaming laptops come with (the standard 300-325 nit range). Also, the 3070 Ti is a beast at 1080p. It'll keep nearly all games you play on high+ settings with 100fps or more. This number would drop down a bit on a QHD panel. (+) Keyboard - I use a Dell XPS 17 for work and if I didn't know any better, the x15's keyboard is taken from the Dell XPS line. It feels EXACTLY like eachother. With that said, this has to be the best keyboard on any gaming laptop I've ever used. No exageration here; the keys are snappy, the caps are a perfect size, and layout is perfect. For some however, the absence of a numberpad may be a downside. (+) Thermals - I've watched some reviews and have read some comments about the thermals of this laptop. Lets just make this simple and get it out of the way. For the thinness of this laptop, you'll find no other gaming laptop that can compare to it's cooling capabilities. Yes, the temperatures can really get up there, but that's if you're running it in performance mode or higher. This is indeed running the CPU and GPU at a higher wattage than comparable laptops that are this thin, but able to keep the thermals in range of Intel and Nvidias operating spec. I mean, how impressive is that? You'd have to move up to a thicker laptop to get similar performance with significantly less noise if you wanted the same performance that the x15 gives you. I personally keep the performance mode on "Balanced" and I have minimal fan noise when playing Fortnite or Overwatch 2 with my son, or League of Legends on my own. (+) Speakers are good (not great) with tuning that helps it sound a bit better. I'd say these speakers are better than most gaming laptop speakers currently on the market. Great clarity without any clipping issues at higher volumes. Lack a little bass, but still passable. I think it sounds better than Razer Blade 15 speakers, but falls short to the Asus Strix Scars' sound (I think the Scars and G15 have the best speakers in gaming laptops currently). (+) Size Ratio - Performance to size ratio is incomparable. Nothing this thin (and at 15") can come close to the performance WITH the refinement this machine has. The Razer Blade 15 comes close to refinement and size, however it's a tad bit thicker and it's TDP/TGP is lower for the same components. (-) Alienware Command Center really needs some work. It works, but it's just a mess to navigate through and takes a very long time to initially open. I end up just leaving it open, and minimized so that I don't have to re-open it, and wait again. (-) Fan's can be a little annoying when in full out performance mode. It's just physics, the fan's are a bit smaller (because of how thin the laptop is), and there's four of them in here. It's cooling an i9 processor and a 3070 Ti GPU. That's A LOT of heat to dissipate in a super thin, 15" chassis. If you're playing with headphones, it won't matter. But if you enjoy playing without headphones, it might annoy you. To combat this, I use a cooling pad and leave my performance setting to "balanced". The fans do kick in, but it's pretty quiet. (-) Size, since the backside does have quite a bit of a "lip" or "chin", it's top down foot print is that of a 16" or 17" laptop. Width wise, yes, it's 15", and it's extremely thin. But from a top-down perspective, it's sizeable. So plan your backpack/laptop bag purchase accordingly. In conclusion, I'm extremely happy with this purchase. This laptop checks off most of the "what I want in a gaming laptop" check-list more so than any other gaming laptop I've owned. If the price of entry isn't a barrier for you, I think you'll be extremely happy in this investment! For context, the list of laptops that were on my short list for premium gaming laptops: Alienware x15, Asus Zephyrus line, Razer Blade 15, and Lenovo Legion 7. And we know how this ended!

Expensive but gets the job done, have always bought used items from Best Buy but didn’t realize they have laptops that don’t come with their chargers so be aware of that! Nice laptop that plays games, it does get very hot though, kinda gets me worried because it doesn’t take very long of low or intense gaming. However I’ve been having a major problem with getting the Alienware command center to work. It sucks because Alienware requires this program to work so you can change your LED settings keyboard colors etc … I’m not a flashy person so I’d like to dim or turn off the large led light on the back and I can’t do anything.
