Amazing gaming machine. FPS through the roof. No mechanical keyboard but still very nice. Not the best display for media content but excellent/fast for games. Meant to be a desktop replacement not a portable machine but it was still lighter than I expected

I bought this laptop as a replacement and am very happy. The laptop has some type of metal liquid thermal paste. The heat consumption on this laptop is solid. This laptop now has a mux switch which becomes enabled after updsting bios. My laptop had the bios update and mux swifch enabled. My direct3d time spy score was 13413 after enabling mux switch. This is not an i9 processor but i7 does well for any game. This laptop has 4 fans two on side and two in back. The I/O ports are also in the back which I like. Power port is located in top left corner. I would expect this laptop to last me years. I upgraded the ram to 64GB and 2x 2tb NVMe drives. Runs all games on max. The price is not work what it is but alienware is always expensive. If you can afford the laptop buy it.

Not much to say aside from the fact it's fast and super sleek. I've always wanted an Alienware and they live up to the hype. Will likely buy another Alienware when I need to update.

Are high frames your thing? The Alienware x17 R1 offered by Best Buy is a great choice for gamers looking for high frame gaming. Let me start with my dislikes...I don't like 1080p gaming at 17". That's just me. I understand some who play games like Valorent or CS:GO higher frames are the goal. In a laptop, you aren't getting a 300+ refresh rate at a resolution other than 1080p. However, if you are a competitive gamer you're probably better off gaming on a monitor, and, with the 125 tdp 3070 including in this laptop, you're not hitting the highest of frames. Solid frames, no doubt, but you'll need more power. Secondly, I don't like all the ports in the back. The power supply and the HDMI? Fine. All the USBs? that'll be a no from me, dog. Really could have used more inputs on the sides. Now, with that said, this is still a very good gaming laptop! Outside of the inputs all being in the back the design of this laptop is very nice. The machine is relatively light and thin for it being 17" packing what it has on the inside. It's easily opened with one hand. The Tron Bar? Beautiful. The RGB is all fully customizable through Alienware's software. The keyboard feels really good. I would have preferred a number pad with a 17" laptop, but still, solid keyboard overall. Good feel when typing. I wouldn't use this as a day-to-day machine over my Macbook, but it's definitely solid. If you're fine with 1080p, there's nothing you can't play with great performance on this machine. I was getting 120+ frames on Apex Legends and COD Warzone easy and hitting that performance with very solid temps and everything maxed. This laptop was maxing out at 75-76 degrees on the CPU and GPU. That's very good compared to a lot of the other options. Overall the Alienware x17 R1 is a very solid laptop. Beautiful design and the specs are strong enough to provide a top-tier 1080p gaming experience. Yes, you can game at 1080p at a lower price point with a 3060 and another brand, but you'd be hard-pressed getting 1080p gaming at this level, with a design of this caliber, while also avoiding heating issues.

The x17 is the flagship 17in gaming laptop from Alienware. Incredibly well built and cooled. Screen is amazing. The only con I can give it is the backspace key only works if I push it in the right place, otherwise the it doesn't work. This is ny 5th Alienware laptop and the first time I had a problem out of the box. As with any gaming laptop, the battery life is average for non-gaming applications such as web browsing and streaming but that is to be expected. Overall, I love this thing!

I have to say, I didn't want to like this laptop. It was the most expensive one I looked at and you can easily save $500 to get the m17. But I gave it a try because it's pretty much a step up from the m17 in every way. And wow, best laptop I have owned hands down. I've had numerous gaming laptops and desktops over the years going back to the massive first gaming laptops in the early 2000s. Pretty much every single one I've had, would have an issue with cooling. No matter how nice you get, it's always the downfall with gaming laptops. Well then comes in the x17. I read about the new cooling system they added and also came to the conclusion, that if your going to get a gaming laptop, it has to be big. Slim and light and gaming, just aren't a real thing unless you playing light games. This thing cools. It would be nice if companies would really start working on the cooling systems as a number one priority, and then adding power. Because the power means nothing if it can't stay cool. The fans on this computer aren't even "that" loud to be honest. at full speed, it's moving a ton of air. Power wise, it's great also. It has a higher power gpu them most other gaming laptops. Time will tell on how well it holds up. My applause could all go out the window if it doesn't last longer then previous laptops I've had that burned out. Battery life is a joke which is expected with a powerful gaming laptop. Screen is not exciting to me as I play mostly mmorpgs and refreash rate doesn't really change anything.

I've had mine for 2 weeks now. Plus I'd installed a 2TB Samsung 980 m.2 SSD. This computer is a beast! I'm upgrading from my 4-year-old R5 17, which was already an amazing computer. This one will last me at least 4 years. My ONLY GRIPE is that if Apple can include POWERFULLY LOUD subwoofers and drivers in their iPads, iPhones, and Macbooks. Why can't Alienware, (or any other gaming laptop company) include quality speakers for a change? However, I've got my Bose QC35II's connected via Bluetooth, so I rarely hear the tinny speakers. Your money is going in the right place with a powerful laptop like this, for content creation and gaming.

I had been looking for a new laptop that could handle all of my day-to-day activities. I use it for work, gaming, video and audio production as well as streaming music and videos. I wanted to find the most powerful machine that I could, and I think I found it! This laptop came packaged very well. All you get it the laptop, power cable, and some documentation. As soon as you take it out of the box you can tell this is one solid and touch machine! It had a good heft to it. Which is not good if you're looking for something light and portable. I was basically looking for something that I could move around my house, not take to college classes and things. I fired it up and the SSD fired up within seconds. I was up and running in a matter of minutes after going through the windows setup process. I also immediately updated to Windows 11 and it runs that without ant problems. All of the jacks are on the back of the laptop aside from the headphone jack which is on the side. I would have liked to see at least a Micro SD slot on the front since that's something you access a lot, but that's a small gripe. There is also a ring around the whole back of the laptop that lights up. It can be hard to see the ports sometimes with that bright light, but again that's another small gripe. The keyboard and screen are beautiful. Its a full color keyboard that can be programmed with tons of colors and patterns. The only thing that this and pretty much every other keyboard manufacturer forgets is to make the symbols under the numbers light up as well so it makes it hard to find symbols if you're a touch typist like myself. The screen is kind of matte so you don't get any horrible reflections off of it. I have been using this for about a week now and I can tell you its a workhorse. It easily runs your day to day tasks. I was able to very quickly edit videos and photos using Photoshop and Premiere. It had very quick rendering times thanks to the SSD and 16GB of RAM. Gaming was also a dream with this machine. It claims a 360 Hz refresh rate, but I have yet to find a game that takes advantage of that. I was getting in the 200's though which is very impressive. The only games i've played on it were Counterstrike and Borderlands and they were quick and smooth as butter! I look forward to trying out a bunch of other games on here in the near future when time allows. The battery life is OK on this machine. You can expect to get about 2 hours out of it. Not the greatest, but it was expected for such a high performance machine. I was a little disappointed that there is not a easily removable / swappable battery in it. Would be nice to be able to have an extra battery or 2 to extend the life if you're on the road and not near an outlet. Overall, its a very solid and rugged computer. Built of mostly metal parts and high quality components, it will give you years of high end computing! As I said, its heavy so I wouldn't want to carry it for long periods of time. But it would be great to bring over to a friends house for gaming or to move around your house. If you're looking for an all around computer that will handle everything you throw at it, this is your machine!

Well this has been a stressful ordeal for me with me being technically challenged. So first i read & watced all the reviews I could. Finally decided to spend a bit more on a reliable brand with the least amount of negative reviews. In fact about the only downside people said was the price. The setup was very eazy, although it didn't have windows 11 like advertising said. I was however told a geek squad member will walk me through that at my convenience. This is in my opinion a very nice, well made laptop! I have downloaded Dayz, Reddead Redemption, Xcom,& my MMO I play and this thing purs like a kitten also very cool temps which I keep checking because Im a worrie wort. I never saw tge temperatures get over 75 & 81 degrees. It usually was running in the 50s. I bought a cooling pad (that sucked) but didnt need it at all. It is also in my opinion quite. I had read its a bit loud. I could barely hear it even with fans a full blast it was just a winding sound that to me wasn't loud at all. I also was concerned about the Alienware Ware Comand Center, had read it was a bit complicated. Again in my opinion its not to heard to set up, not that i did all that much in it. I just set the mouse & headset up. Very eazy, oh i also set some colors up. This is an impressive rig & so far I would definitely recommend it. Its only been two days, but Im loving it. I also sprung for the total tech support. They have been great!! Very polite, professional, and helpful. This is my first purchase through Best Buy. I am happy with both this laptop & Best Buy as a whole!
