    This is a true powerhouse of a machine - however, at the sheer cost...this is expected. A few of the downsides: the system heats up quick, the speakers sound tinny and for a 4k screen, the resolution doesn't always feel spectacular. All downsides I believe I can look past - as long as no other issues arise in the coming weeks. At this price, I'm going to be far more nitpicky with overall function of the unit. I would recommend if this is within budget.

    Solid laptop but runs a bit hot. If this i9 variant supported undervolting, then it would have gotten an additional star. Also the lunar light paint finish seems to be more on the delicate side so it scuffs and chips easily. For the price, even on clearance, it should be lower.

      Here are the steps to troubleshoot your heating issue:
      1. Update the system BIOS.
      2. Configure Alienware Command Center.
      • Open Alienware Command Center
      • Set the Active System Theme - Thermal as Performance Mode
      3. When the system boots up, using the preinstalled software Dell SupportAssist run the stress test.
      • Dell SupportAssist > Hardware Checkup > CPU > CPU stress test
      4. Launch the Alienware Command Center, go to Fusion, and monitor the CPU frequency.
      • The CPU peak temperature should be less than or equal to (≤) 100 ℃
      • When under high stress, the system average temperature can be expected to be less than (≤) 100 ℃

    I have been struggling with low end laptops for a while, this piece of artwork responds brilliantly and I couldn't ask for better. I haven't explored everything or benchmarked it yet, but I have no doubts about it doing absolutely everything I expect it to do with little to no issues.

    This laptop is a beast, extremely powerful and can handle whatever you throw at it. It does run very hot so make sure you have a mat or make sure it is elevated, by the way get ready for the brick of a power supply.

    The laptop in general is pretty good, the only issue I got since day 1 is the Fx for the “alien head”, “stadium” and ON/OFF “alien head” doesn’t work, I reinstalled 3 times the command center following step by step the instructions but never worked, I really like to get that issue fixed…

    Definitely a solid laptop if you can find it open box. The price is definitely too high for it only being a 3080, but everything else is top notch. Was able to run every game in 2k resolution with highest settings.

    Amazing laptop but for the price i wish it didnt have so many software issues. Since day one i opened it up and the RGB on keyboard and trackpad never worked. Issue was identified by dell to be the alienware control center however after 15 reinstall sith multiple versions it still broke. Ive read online as well alot of customers have had this experience as well.

    Do not buy this laptop. My speakers sound horrible, there is a vibrating sound coming out of the left speaker and it gets hot very fast! I contacted Dell support and they said they would be able to help me with no problems. It has been 1.5 months, way past when I could return it to Best Buy, and it is still not fixed. They also said they will not offer me a replacement. So I am stuck with an extremely expensive piece of junk.

      Here are the steps to help resolve your heating issue:
      1. Make sure the system is in a well-ventilated area.
      2. Use laptops on flat surfaces to improve airflow. Hard table tops are recommended and avoid using any type of cloth or any other soft material under the laptop.
      3. For desktop systems make sure there is enough clearance around the system to allow the air to flow. If the system is in an enclosure try to move it to a more ventilated area for testing.
      4. Check that the air vents are clean and that nothing is obstructing them.
      5. Update your system BIOS to the latest available on the Dell Support Site.
      6. You can reset your BIOS settings to undo any changes that could be causing the system to overheat.
      7. Disable NVIDIA G SYNC and run a stress test using Support Assist.
      8. Navigate to the Thermal Controls in the Alienware Command Center, which is found under the Fusion tab. There you can adjust the thermal control of system fans and change the status of active venting.     The laptop is great at gaming. The only thing is the fans have to be operating at 90% to give you the performance, which makes it loud when gaming. Other than that great laptop.

    Couldn't even set up the computer because the entire keyboard was inoperable out of the box. Was able to plug in a USB mechanical keyboard. Did every update, windows, dell, alienware, drivers... everything. Did a factory reset and tried everything. Even contacted alienware. Their response "we know this is an issue. We expect to have a bios update in 10 days". Absolutely no way a computer that sells for $4k after tax and everything should perform. I'll be returning it.

    Great Work & Play Laptop

    Used for traveling. It is a really good laptop to take on the go. Does everything I need it to do (work and play). My only two gripes are to be expected with a beast like this. It is hot and loud when gaming. Also, the battery life is pretty short. Again, this is to be expected when you are gaming for sure. Overall, this is a great beast for on the go, as long as you have somewhere you can plug it in. You might also want to be using noise cancelling headphones while gaming.

    Hardware seems to be working fine, alienware software is buggy/crashes. Speakers are HORRIBLE rattles and squeeks. Feels sturdy and power supply is smaller than most

    Worked well out of the box and continues to do so. However, if you ask it to do anything challenging, the fans will come on (not overly loud) and it will get warm to hot. The biggest issue I have is that the secondary keys that are not caps are not lit up. It is VERY had to find something like the underscore unless light is shining on the keyboard even during the day. I am getting an external keyboard for it.

    Major Keyboard Issue

    The Keyboard fails every few weeks. All the lights turn off and the Keyboard Stops working completely. No Keys work. Laptop works with External Keyboard but Internal Keyboard Fails. I talked to Dell Support and they keep asking to reset my OS which I do multiple times and it works for few Weeks but the issue comes back again. I sent my Laptop to Geek Squad and they just returned it next day stating that the Keyboard works fine. I cannot reproduce on the stop since it happens so Randomly. Dell Released Firmware update which I tried to follow but it says the Firmware is updated already. There are multiple online posts about this Laptop and Keyboard not working online which you can check. To fix the issue follow below steps 1. Turn off the Laptop 2. Disconnect the Power Cable 3. Press and Hold the Power Button for 30 Seconds 4. Turn the Laptop Back on It fixes it for next few weeks
