It is everything as promised. It replaced an older Alienware which had a audio hardware problem after over two years use. It was covered by our Best Buy warranty and we got full credit. We upgraded to this new model. My Autistic son uses it many hours a day. Best Buy downloaded the information from the old one and nothing was lost. Best Buy has been excellent and the staff was very helpful.

Very nice item just may be a tad pricy and does tend to be hot to the touch.

My boyfriend uses it to play high performing games and it does beyond that.

Great gaming laptop. Got this for my son and he loves it .

Think this was the most well package computer boxing I’ve ever opened.. So far so good still early on though.. recently upgraded from an OK computer to this and he found the only thing I have to get used to it is no touch screen again.. last computer had a touchscreen took forever to remember that.

First things first: * This has the 12900H, not HK. IMO, that's not a big deal, you're going to be thermal limited with the HK anyway * This has the 3080 *NON* TI. The TI option would be nice but likely not worth the price premium. It at least is a full power 3080 with 150w+boost TDP. * Does not have the Cherry MX mechanical keyboard. Again, would be nice to have but the per-key RGB keyboard is pretty darn good Now that we have that out of the way...I buy a lot of laptops as I like to try various models and having the most power possible in a portable form factor has appealed to me for years. I can say that this is one of my favorites to date. Most laptops in this performance tier have significant thermal issues or questionable quality / design choices...not the situation here. Pros: * Great form factor, particularly for a 17" laptop * 4K display is beautiful and bright * Thermals are excellent, particularly for this form factor * Full power RTX3080 and blazing fast 12th gen Intel * Ram upgradable and 2x NVME slots * Performance is where is should be for the specs (Timespy > 14k) Cons: * Bottom of laptop gets very warm on the lap if doing anything intensive. Plan on using a desk and/or laptop pad * Alienware utilities (Command Center etc) are still flakey after all these years * I do wish Best Buy would have opted for the 3080TI model, but even going direct through Dell, the minimal real world performance gains didn't seem worth it to me Misc: The m17 r5 is a solid alternative at a much lower price point.

Amazing purchase. Bought as an open-box item without any accessories. I bought a charger separately online and once i set everything up, it worked perfectly and was a great deal. $1400 for a $3500 computer… Can’t beat that.

This system has surpassed our expectations. It has excellent graphics and speed and super refresh rates.No more lagging or glitches during multitasking.

The first time I used an Alienware , although I bought it unwrapped, but the inside is as good as new, such things are cheap and as good as new, who does not love

Excellent laptop. I haven't had a game that didn't play well on it yet. If there would be any improvement it would be on the heat dispersion from the GPU. It gets HOT.

I bought the x17 r2 model and it was great out of the box, until it wasnt. Everything was going fine until i tried to plug an ethernet cord into the rear ethernet port. It would go in, but then immediately fall out. After looking into the port i noticed that there was a metal strip blocking the top of the ethernet cord from clicking into the port. I had another alienware laptop and compared the ports, and confit that the metal strip across the top was not supposed to be there. i called best buy and spoke with someone in the geek squad call center. She advised that i would have to bring in the laptop for a geek squad professional to take a look at it and i would have to pay for the appointment. Well, i told her that i was not paying for an appointment for a $3300 laptop, that was fresh out of the box. She continued to tell me that i would have to pay for an appointment. I told her that wasnt happening, hung up and called back to speak with another associate. The new associate was able to nake an appointment for me and said i would not have to pay for the appintment. This review will be continued after the appointment tomorrow. Im not paying anything for a defective laptop out of the box. This is the second laptop ive gotten from best buy in 2 weeks that has had problems. The first was an ASUS rog 15 that was constantly running at 96c under no load. Best Buy seriously had some QA problems.

Love the laptop. Does get hot when gaming on max settings. Only problem I’ve had is the Alienware Command Center stop working, but is not a big deal.

Laptop wont respond to power or show any signs of life after purchased open box 2 months ago. Have not used this laptop for more than 10 hours since purchasing and its already black screened and unresponsive to power in any port.

Good bang for the buck. I use to build desktop pc’s but needed something that took up less space. Definitely worth the money

My son is absolutely obsessed with this computer! It’s the only thing he hasn’t broken when he gets mad at losing a game.
