For a tiny speaker, it gets pretty loud and the sound is well balanced without sounding too tinny or too bassy. It does have the annoying voice announcement of "Powering on, Welcome to Altec Lansing" every time it's turned on. But I can live with that. My one real issue is that sometimes on spoken word, like audio books and podcasts, the speaker will cut off every once in a while cutting off words. I don't know if it has something to do with pauses or not.

You get a lot of great sound from a small package at a great price and fast delivery!

Bought this for use in the shower, and it is perfect. Doesn't matter if it gets a little wet, and the sound is stellar!

Everything proof. Had the last version, got this for my girlfriend cause she loved mine and the color.

My speaker sounds louder than I thought it would be

I bought one because I wanted to give my friend a good gift, I decided to buy this speaker. When my friend tried it, I was embarrassed because the sound is not good quality and the price is way high for what it is. I would recommend getting a speaker that is on display and you can try it and hear it for yourself before buying a speaker. If it's not on display you risk the chance of buying a bad quality sound. The bigger ones that were on display from this brand sounded great but this specific speaker was not on display and I assumed that because the larger ones were good the baby one going to sound great too.

I bought this speaker about 2 weeks ago. Sound is good for size and seems to be at least snow proof as I took it snowboarding although it spent almost no time in the snow unless I was strapping in. It rattled itself off of my waist high table and no longer works. If you have or get one of these, DO NOT DROP IT!

Best Buy's website advertises the Altec Lansing Baby Boom, IMW-269, as having two 1-inch drivers. This unit clearly does not have two speakers. Scrolling lower down the page, I find that they also list that the unit has 1 speaker. On top of that, the unit's physical design makes it seem like it has two speakers. A bit confusing... Also, if you click on the "Quick Start Guide" PDF that they have linked, the diagram clearly shows that there is a 3.5mm aux input jack on this unit. However, there is no aux jack on this unit. I am very disappointed, as these are the two main reasons I bought this thing. Other than that, for all intents and purposes, it's a decent speaker. I will attempt to contact Altec Lansing about the misleading information regarding this product.

Speaker was a Christmas gift and because I didn't have the receipt, they said it was older and was not willing to help! Unit not charging, not turning on, not able to sync .... now headed to garbage where it belongs! Do your homework ... don't buy this product!!

1 BIG complaint. When powering on the is a VERY loud "Powering On. Welcome to Altec Lansing" voice that plays. You can't turn this off or down. Even if the volume was low when you powered it off. It turns on LOUD. This makes it impossible to use discretely as anyone within 100 feet of you will hear it turn on and off. once on it works fine. Do Not Buy if you plan on using in an office, presentation, etc as its welcome message is annoying and unacceptable.

Volume level and sound quality is good for such a little speaker but it doesn't play the first couple seconds of audio which is annoying if you are listening to an audio book or podcast.

Junk shuts itself down continuously. Yes good signal in my home or 20 yards away makes no difference. I am a human fkg being I do not need this P-O-SHT this to shut down unless i tell it to shut down. Second time I ordered online from Best Buy and the Last.

Seemed great at first, then the sound started to get weird. I think it had to do with the wire I used to plug it in. Now the wire doesn't work at all, it's super loose in the hole. They do have a one year warranty, but I can't find the receipt. Keep your receipt!

I git the Altec baby boom as a gift. It is not loud at all and after 2 months the speakers qre now rattling and the music is skipping out. HMDX and JBL make better longer lasting speakers. I am very disappointed in the quality.
