Bluetooth from nearly any audio source

Back in the day when I had a MP3 playing portable CD player, I needed a way to get it to play on my car stereo. So, I bought a little battery operated FM transmitter and with the right tuning I had this portable device playing on my car stereo.
Leap forward many years later and now we have Bluetooth connections with car stereos, wireless speakers and headphones. However, some tech is still a bit outdated and may not connect to Bluetooth. Welcome the Aluratek - Bluetooth Audio Transmitter.
This device is super simple, small and works surprisingly well. You can take pretty much any device that has a headphone jack or RCA audio plugs and make it Bluetooth capable. From your old Walkman, a TV or even a cellphone that you don’t want to pair to another Bluetooth device. Simply press the pairing button on the transmitter and enable pairing on the audio device and it connects. Then plug it to an audio source with the 3.5mm cable or red/white RCA adapter.
The Aluratek - Bluetooth Audio Transmitter can also connect to two audio devices at the same time, like two pairs of headphones or two speakers. I actually found that having two audio devices running on this transmitter actually worked better than dual audio option on my cell phone.
On a full charge it has ran for 12 hours straight before dying. It uses a micro-usb charging cable and works while plugged in. So, if using near an outlet you can plug it into a standard charger block, or if using on a computer, into a USB port for endless use. As for range, I have walked around my entire house with headphones and only having minor interruption in the farthest corners with the most walls for disturbance. I did occasionally get some audio pops, but I think that may have been from wireless interference as I do live in an area where I can see multiple wireless devices. I was also surprised by the low latency while watching videos, as I have seen other devices lag seconds behind video. This is also dependant on your audio device as well though and will have the best performance on a device that can use aptx low latency.
Once this is paired with something, say a Bluetooth speaker, you can keep that speaker on and just plug this device into any other audio source without having to pair anything else. Like the phrase “pass the aux cord,” you can pass the transmitter and anyone can be playing audio without having to go through the pairing process each time.
Note, it does say “Not for Use With Smartphones” on the package. However, if you are pairing it with headphones or speakers, you can plug the 3.5mm jack into a smartphone as it acts just like an aux cord would. However, smartphones can usually pair with those audio devices directly themselves.

Outstanding, Bluetooth Universal Audio Transmitter

The Aluratek Universal Bluetooth Audio Transmitter with Bluetooth 5 (model ATB05F) is an outstanding and useful Bluetooth based audio transmitter. This is a must-have device for travelers, gym rats, and especially couples that may share a love of the same book or music and have a device with either a 3.5mm audio out or RCA audio out. This device’s single purpose is to adapt the audio output of devices that have either a 3.5mm headphone jack or RCA audio out to Bluetooth headphones or speakers.
The typical uses for this are in the gym – while you are using the treadmill or other cardio machines TVs - and Airplane entertainment systems. But since this device has both 3.5mm and RCA cables - the device can be used to adapt sound from a whole host of devices with audio out jacks. While testing I used my cell phone, my Kindle, and a TV. The device is extremely simple but also very effective. The sound was excellent and there was no noticeable lag. Having recently reviewed another similar item; the Aluratek device has one additional benefit in that it’s Bluetooth can simultaneously connect to a second Bluetooth device – thus a couple could listen to an audiobook together while walking, or even watch a movie together on a long haul flight to say Rome!
The device is rated for up to 10 hours of battery life but can be charged while in use which would be effective on longer flights. Knowing that battery life ratings typically are inflated I would expect this device to last 5 – 7 hours. The device has a 50-foot range. It has an auto-shutoff that turns the device off within 5 minutes of disconnection from an audio source. It comes with a 3.5 mm audio cable, a 3.5 mm to RCA cable, and a USB charging cable. The device has a 1-year warranty.
Pros: Simple and effective – does the job it was intended to. Dual Streaming capability. Price – the 29.99 price for this device is spot on and is a great deal.
Cons: None Noted.

Minimal range, slight delay in what's being heard

If you're looking for an inexpensive "plug in & never have to bother with" blue-tooth transmitter and you sit within 6-8 feet of the TV into which this transmitter is plugged, then this Aluratek may fit the bill for you & is the least expensive available at BestBuy. I used it for 6 months with 2 different headsets paired to it in its memory (so I could be charging one headset while listening to the other). I never had any problems with its connecting to my headsets when desired after they'd been paired.
My biggest disappointment (& why it did not "fit the bill" for me) was I can't move around anywhere in my room; as soon as I move 2' from my chair (in which I sit while watching the small TV in my room, mostly when I'm sick or suffering), reception is very poor (totally gone within another couple feet). There is a slight delay since it is plugged into the TV's headphones input (not so when given other options as with the MEE 2 headphone BT Transmitter, which is what I use now...twice as expensive but worth it to me in my use of the transmitter), but I wasn't even aware of the slight delay until I'd bought the different, better BT transmitter.
The Aluratek comes with a USB power cord for charging. I have so many USB plugs from prior cell phones & other Android devices, that I used one with the cord & kept it plugged in 24/7 so that I never had to worry about running out of charge at a most inopportune time during a movie.
I much prefer the MEE audio dual headphone BT transmitter & recommend it instead of this device if you ever might want 2 sets of BT headphones plugged in or prefer to have no delay (comes with TOSLINK digital optical SPDIF audio cable [best latency for least delay between video & audio], 3.5mm audio cable [worst latency], 3.5mm to RCA adapter, all 3 of which come with each MEE transmitter...so know what inputs you have on your TV & consider every situation in which you are likely to be listening to your TV via BT before buying a transmitter to make the best informed decision. The MEE costs about twice as much but is even easier to reconnect headsets (quite automatic) and offers the significantly better latency & range (I can now move freely about my room without diminished quality of sound, even down the hall a good 50+' from the transmitter before the reception gets bad or is lost) over the Aluratek Bluetooth Audio Transmitter
[ The MEE BT Transmitter can be found at https://www.bestbuy.com/site/mee-audio-connect-universal-dual-headphone-bluetooth-audio-transmitter-for-tv-black/5471900.p?skuId=5471900 ]

I use this to watch sports on my TV that doesn't have bluetooth built-in and to not have the TV blasting while my partner studies. It works well with my Sony bluetooth headphones and I am even able to adjust the volume via the built in controls on my headphones. I also used it with my Anker bluetooth earbuds, but the sound control was not available with them, so keep in mind that the volume control is going to depend on the type of headphones/earbuds you are using. Other than that, the connection takes a couple of tries sometimes, but mostly works as it should on the first try. For $20, this is a steal as I even contemplated buying a newer TV since my TV is from 2014, but this little gadget works most of the time and saves me from having to replace a perfectly working TV. Thanks Best Buy!

I use this transmitter to listen to TV audio through headphones. It's very easy to set up and straightforward to use.
The audio quality is pretty good, though not perfect. There is a fair amount of audio sputter even when in-range of a fully-charged device. When the battery starts to get lower, the sputter gets significantly worse, and there is just a slight delay at times. Your mileage may vary on how annoying you find that, especially if you're listening to something where dialogue is really critical.
As would be expected, the audio cutout gets worse the further you move away from the device. It can get a little iffy before you start getting close to the advertised 50 foot range, but shouldn't be a problem if you plan on staying nearby the device.
The battery does run out fairly quickly even when powered off, so if you're going to be using it a lot, you should plan on charging it often.
All in all for the price point, this is a handy little device and I'm happy with it.

Overall, I'm pretty happy with it because it allows me to listen to my receiver with my bluetooth headphones. The range and sound quality are quite good. At first I had an issue with one channel or the other cutting out, but that ended up being the headphone jack or socket on my receiver. I fixed that by "jiggling" the connection. I'm using an adapter between the 3.5mm jack on the device to my 1/4" socket on my receiver. Two things keep me from rating this 5: (1) the indicator light is tiny and hard to interpret and (2) sometimes the pairing takes a while and requires me to put my headset back in pairing mode.

Basic Bluetooth transmitter that misses the mark

I bought this transmitter because my rear seat DVD entertainment system could not play through the factory infotainment system clearly via the FM interface. I didn't want to use an audio patch cable so this was a good wireless solution. It does transmit Bluetooth signals, but only A2DP and any receiver that requires a password to pair will not work with this. You have to buy the matching receiver. However, when it is paired with the receiver, the sound is really, really clear and the volume is so much louder than the standard headphone out volume. Interestingly, the battery life is shorter than the matching receiver, but the USB charging is quick and efficient. The only reason for missing out on 5 stars is the inability to pair with car radios that require a passcode verification.

This is such a great device and makes perfect sense to have in this day and age.
I like to be able to watch tv or movies and hearing the audio has always been an issue with having kids that go to sleep early. I am always fiddling with the remote for the tv to try to find a happy audio setting.
This Bluetooth transmitter works seamlessly with my 8 year old Sony TV. I have this plugged into the audio jack on my tv and listen to my shows and movies with my Sony wireless headphones. Sound is in sync and I’m able to watch my entertainment at my own leisure without going up and down on the remote all show long for loud scenes or soft spoken scenes. Being able to pair 2 headphones to this at the same time for a his/hers experience to watch tv in our home has been such a relief. I can watch a movie and keep the volume at my desired headphone level with explosions and loud noises...and I don’t have to worry about the bass from the home theater shaking the house and waking up little ones that are asleep by 8 pm.
I’d say this device is a great investment for anyone who wants to be more immersed into their tv shows, music streaming, and entertainment with Bluetooth headphones paired. Has been the device I needed for years but never knew it existed.

Pros/Cons of the Aluratek Bluetooth Transmitter

I first bought the Aluratek Bluetooth transmitter as a way to send sound from my LG tv to my Bluetooth headphones (I wear the headphones as I was born with a hearing loss). A tip: before buying this product, check first to make sure that your tv has either a headphone jack or the analog RCA (aka audio red & white) ports in order to then connect the Aluratek transmitter. I didn't know that it was required for my tv to have one of these connections in order to connect/use the transmitter & was disappointed with this fact after I had purchased this product. :-(
After further study of the back of my tv, I saw that the only sound output it had was a Digital Optical (aka fiber aka Toslink) sound output. :-/ After doing some extensive research online, I found & bought a digital-to-analog converter that converted/downgraded the optical sound output to analog (aka the red & white audio ports) & that also came with a built-in headphone jack. Once I plugged in & then hooked up the digital-to-analog converter to the optical sound-out port on my tv with a cord that came with the converter, I then plugged in the Aluratek Bluetooth transmitter into the headphone jack in the converter, switched the transmitter on…& voila!! I could hear the sound from my tv on my Bluetooth headphones!! :-D
A CON that I've found while using the Aluratek transmitter is that there is a brief (half a second or so) sound delay with what you watch on the tv & what you're hearing (aka the sound not syncing up). Also, a very frustrating con: if you have Bluetooth headphones that can connect to 2 devices at the same time (like mine do) & you have your headphones connected to, say, your iPhone & the Aluratek transmitter at the same time…& you get a phone call, the Aluratek transmitter will automatically disconnect from your headphones & so you will lose the sound coming from the tv. The same thing happens when I have my iPad & the Aluratek transmitter connected to my headphones. The Aluratek transmitter will suddenly disconnect if my iPad plays a notification sound when I get a notification. Usually, to correct this, I then have to turn my Bluetooth headphones off & back on, & then I can hear sound from the tv again. Tip: I often put on the 'Do Not Disturb' setting on my iOS devices first before I connect my Bluetooth headphones to the transmitter. That way the transmitter doesn't disconnect when something happens on my iOS devices & I don't lose the sound from the tv. Yes, I have a lot of patience when it comes to technology. :-)

I found this easy to pair with a Bluetooth speaker. I use it with a small television in the morning to listen to a news program as I move around between different rooms. I have found that it has excellent range. There can be a slight delay making the audio slightly out of sync with the picture, but for my purpose that doesn’t matter and it isn’t always noticeable.

I work with multiple bluetooth devices and transmitters. This one works fine once it is connected. It does not connect with some newer wireless earbuds. It has more complexity than power, multiple 'modes' to learn and understand, yet requires the headset to be placed within an inch to discover and connect. Over time it has degraded, requiring daily resetting and difficulty getting into 'discovery' mode. When it does finally connect, the sound is clear, no delay, it's excellent, but be prepared for frequent resetting and codling sessions with this one.

If you need a BT transmitter that supports better codecs with decent range, buy this.
Do not hesitate.
I've been holding off on getting one of these, but with a recent turntable purchase and my awesome Sony BT headphones (WH1000xm2) I figured the other reviews of this product said "this is worth a try."
I really don't see why spending any more than this would make sense unless you need extreme range or longer battery life. I've compared running the same source with this and with wires on the same source material and headphones- there is no difference. Period. Yes this will have to compress audio but the freedom gained is nice (read on).
I've got them connected directly to the "line" output on a new Audio Technica turntable several hours of the week as to not disturb my wife (night nurse). Using my headphones (yours may vary) I can still control volume. And these transmit enough volume without any distortion.
I've even connected them to my phone, which I use with BT all day at work as a comparison. Yeah, these actually may sound better than the BT output on my G5 Plus, but that phone also doesn't support aptX....but the range is better if you're already using a BT source and need a little more range.
My only complaint is that the included cables are really really really cheap but I already have a mix of various cables to use with these.

I've only been playing with this for 2 days but I can already tell you it's worth the money. I bought it mainly for my Woojer Strap Edge so I wasn't tied down with wires. This works perfectly. I have it connected to the Strap and my Bose 700 headphones. Perfect quality, no latency (I tested it several times), and a fairly long range. I am able to walk around multiple corners and through at least 2 walls, I haven't had any issues, latency starts around the 2nd corner, but it's barely noticeable. Connection is extremely simple and intuitive. I would highly recommend this for anyone looking for a bluetooth adapter that has a number of uses. The ONLY con I have is that its battery powered, but it can still stream to both devices while plugged in, with no static sound.

Works as designed. Paired with Bluetooth headphones (Bose QuietComfort SE) after a few tries. We keep a 3.5 mm headphone cable plugged in to Aluratek & TV; we switch TV speakers on & off using the TV remote. Simple to operate: just turn on & off; after initial pairing, the Aluratek and the headphones connect automatically. Good sound quality. Battery lasts at least 10 hours.

Works well on the airplane monitors. Sounds come out clear. There are times when my ear buds won't connect for some reason I have to hit the refresh button on the dongle a few times before my earbuds would connect. The real downside to this device is the battery life I feel is too short. Other wise I like it a lot.

This would be great to listen to the radio or streaming music. But I plugged it into the headphone jack on my practice guitar amp at home. It worked to my earbuds but there is a 1/2 second delay making practice impossible. You can’t pluck a string and hear it 1/2 a second later. Big drag cause my wired headphones get in the way. I tried a second pair of earbuds to see if the problem was on that end but it wouldn’t pair with that set at all.

I got these to use on the plane. The headphones they sell in the air really suck. I want to use my own noise canceling Bluetooth headphones and this definitely did the job. It recharges or can be charged right there in the USB port... it is very easy to sync and you can listen with good quality headsets for a long flight. So glad I got this!
I also tested it out on my television at home and it worked well. If I want to watch TV another people want to sleep I can just plug in the Bluetooth and I will be able to listen to the TV. Although if you have Apple TV, there is a way you can wirelessly connect your Bluetooth to the TV without having to use the adapter.

Works in the headphone jack of my audiolab amp syncing with wireless earphones. Pairing was a bit tricky first time, spotting the difference in the indication light, but it's been straightforward since. Sound quality is good, doesn't seem any different than using headphones in the jack directly.
