This Bluetooth transmitter/receiver works exactly as described. Right out of the box it includes the transmitter, the power cable (micro USB), RCA cable, Aux cable, and even an optical cable. This has literally anything you need to begin using.
The first thing I did was take my old school iPod and connect it via Aux. Unlike most Bluetooth items I had to read the instructions as it is not obvious to use right away. You have to hit the pair button twice to get it into pairing mode. It then connected to my wireless headphones and just like that I was listening to my iPod with Bluetooth headphones. That worked very well. I then went for a walk around my office. I went to the printer and then to a coworkers office. It did not lose connection once. My headphones connected to my phone would always lose connection in those 2 places. The range is very good.
I then hooked it up to my stereo receiver and put it in receiver mode. I sent a signal from my phone to it and cranked out music to my basement surround system via the receiver. I then took a walk with my phone around the different rooms in my basement and it also did not lose reception.
I cannot wait to use this in the summer as I plan to connect 2 wireless speakers to it and feed them off an Echo Dot for some outdoor tunes. I feel the range should have no issues as there are no obstructions.
I highly recommend this Bluetooth transmitter/receiver as it works exactly as described and will likely give you no issues as I have had none.

Received this as a birthday gift from my son. I have older audio equipment, with sound quality far superior to the Bluetooth speakers I have that I was using to play my digital music. Plus, I have quality speakers connected to this system spread throughout my home, including my garage and back patio. Unfortunately, my older equipment does not have Bluetooth capability, so I wasn’t able to play downloaded music through this system. The Aluratek allowed me to overcome this problem with ease. I had no problems connecting to my music source (iPhone) and I can take the phone anywhere in my (large) home and not experience any degradation in sound quality. I’m very pleased with this gift!

Audio sync issues

I had high hopes for this unit. I've been looking for a bluetooth adapter to use between my Home Cinema 2150 projector and a Samsung sound bar. I took all the goodies out into the living room and there was about 12' from projector to soundbar. I used the extender in transmit mode to send the audio from the projector to the soundbar. The video source was a Roku 3 via hdmi with the audio going from the projector to the transmitter via 3.5 pin cable. I had major lag issues using the Spectrum app and YouTube app. I thought maybe it was the video source, but both lagged. If it's on my end, it has to be either the Roku, the HDMI cable or soundbar. I will say the bluetooth connected immediately to the Samsung soundbar. I just couldn't find a way to eliminate the lag between audio and lips moving on screen.
So then I grabbed a pair of bluetooth Jaybird wireless ear buds. The sync was much better, almost perfect as I sat next to the transmitter. I could still see a second of lag, but it was probably watchable.
I'll have to continue trying different cables and configurations to see if I can get the transmitter to stream to the soundbar without lag. If so, this would be a five star item, but as it is right now, it's just middle of the road. It doesn't work out of the box for me, but YMMV!
Unfortunately I wouldn't recommend the unit as it doesn't accomplish what I would like it to. Others may find it works for their needs. Buyers need to base their choice on what they are trying to get the unit to do. Just understand it may not be great in all scenarios.

I looked at the manual online before ordering; it looked easy to understand. I needed to be able to use two headphones at the same time; it said it could do that. Best Buy had one at the store, so I brought the Aluratek home. The hookup was simple. Then I connected the two headphones with the bluetooth feature. I am listening to music as I write this, upstairs in my study, while my receiver and TV are downstairs. Disclaimer: I have been using the Aluratek for only about 30 minutes, but so far, so good. (Incidentally, I am pairing two Tribit XFree Tune Bluetooth Headphones, which are excellent and have great sound. They are very comfortable to wear for extended periods.)

Bluetooth where you need it

I love this product. It enables bluetooth where I need it. 1) From my TV since no TV supports bluetooth transmitting to headphones 2) To a speaker set where one of my PA systems is connected to a non-bluetooth mixer. This device features both receiving and transmitting and it TRANSMITS TO TWO headsets! I can watch TV with someone in the bedroom and not wake up the kids!
Also I like the bypass feature where it converts optical output to an aux-- very helpful when I bring my hack karaoke system to parties since different venues have different set ups.
I only have two issues with this:
a) connecting the two headsets is not easy-- I need to make sure that all other bluetooth devices are off in my immediate area to connect successfully. I had to do it in multiple attempts because even though there are lights that guided me through the pairing process (tx mode), I needed to pay close attention to the headsets to complete a pair. It is not that hard, but it is definitely tricky.
b) Audio quality is average-- it is very headset dependent so do not expect good quality from regular earbuds. On my good headset, the audio quality was acceptable with good stereo effects on an optical output.
So far, I did not experience any drops in connection throughout a couple of movies and episodes that I watched (even when I had to do snack runs in between!) Overall it is a very good device. It is light, complete (especially that it has the wires you need included!), and very versatile.

Good if you're *always* using BT

If you're always using BT, or rarely using it, this is a good purchase. However if you sometimes want it on, other times off, this can be a bit cumbersome. It would be really useful with a remote where I could grab my headphones, flick the switch, and this would turn on and intercept my audio to my headphones when, for instance, my wife is sleeping but I still want to watch TV.
It works as advertised, but the implementation could have been a bit more robust to *really* fill the needs of what I believe most people will be wanting this for. How many people get a TV and just want to listen via BT headphones *all the time*?
