Sound quality seems to be compromised

I got this to be able to stream Spotify via Bluetooth to my stereo in the garage from my phone. Due to the sound quality reduction I am no longer using this for that purpose and I am using an old tablet connected through the earphone jack directly to the input to the stereo. A better option anyway as it doesn't disconnect when I walk away.

Good unit, but batteries go bad quickly.
