Since that was the primary reason for purchasing it, I had to return it. Never got a chance to try it out. My answer to the question "Would I recommend this item" is for those who may be buying it because you have Spectrum as your TV provider.

You're correct that the Spectrum TV app is not currently supported on Fire TV devices, including the Fire TV Cube, which is an important consideration for customers who rely on Spectrum as their primary TV provider. While the Fire TV Cube offers robust equipment control capabilities for cable and satellite boxes from providers like Comcast, DISH, DIRECTV, AT&T U-verse, and Spectrum set-top boxes through voice commands and infrared control, the dedicated Spectrum streaming app is not available in the Fire TV app ecosystem. For Spectrum customers, you can still access your Spectrum service by connecting your Spectrum cable box to the Fire TV Cube using the equipment control feature, which allows you to change channels and control your cable box with voice commands through Alexa. However, if your primary goal was to use the standalone Spectrum app for streaming without a cable box, the Fire TV Cube would not meet that need. Thank you for sharing this feedback!

Much more responsive than the last gen Cube and all the sticks. The USB A port and pre installed media player makes it easy to plug in an external drive and play movies you already have. Only minor issue the player doesn't seam to have a subtitle option. +1 on the actual ethernet port and not a dongle. Some people complain theres no USB 3.0 and the ethernet port is only a 10/100 but its a non issue. No streaming channel comes remotely close to 100Mbs in bandwidth and even a 1:1 rip of a blue ray wont come close to saturating a USB 2.0 connection. The ports are sized properly for the device

Anyone who has tried typing a search on TV with a remote knows how a annoying it is.

I especially love the voice functions. The compact design takes up very little space. I'm still exploring all of the units capabilities. Can't wait to find more uses and apps.
